Joe at Hudson Automotive Repair and Service was fantastic. We drove down from Connecticut to look at an RV we were considering purchasing and needed a last-minute pre-purchase inspection. When I called Joe and explained our situation, he was able to fit us in quickly.
He performed a very thorough inspection of the RV and took the time to explain everything in detail so we fully understood the condition of the vehicle. Hudson Automotive went above and beyond on my Airstream project. I was at a loss on where to begin, it had extensive water damage and needed a complete overhaul. They replaced my subfloor, installed custom cabinetry and countertops. I was looking for an off-grid power setup with no knowledge but the team helped me select a solar system and power storage option to suit my needs. Looking forward to working with them on the next phase of interior design features later this year after my summer tour ends.
Joe is a gem saw me on the side of the road at a Mobil gas station and offered me assistance with a flat tire. He took time out to put the spare on and I followed him back to the shop and he fix my tire and got me back on the road and he would not take any money from me.
He was a true angel in my time of need and showed me that there are still good people in the world. Definitely a trustworthy place to go.

Joe is a wizard of mechanical magic! He and his team went above and beyond after an unfortunate breakdown on the thruway in my camper. They figured out the issues immediately and had us back on the road by the weekend to enjoy our trip. I will make a point to schedule all future services at this facility based on honesty and efficiency alone.
Nowhere else we’d take our accessible van! We bought a Toyota Sienna with a ramp, slightly used, and it has needed extensive work/modifications, so it can be driven by someone sitting in a wheelchair. Joe is an absolute expert with all things Braunability (certified dealer), unlike EVERY other mechanic we tried before. My husband’s van works perfectly now - thanks Joe! Highly recommend.
I just wanted to share my experience again with regards to my father‘s handicap accessible van that I sent to Hudson automotive because I was completely comfortable and confident with the work that Joe and his extremely competent and knowledgeable Technicians that he has working for him there. My father‘s van had problems with the ramp coming out and the automatic sliding door getting jammed every time I try to open it so I took it in to the shop and not only he completed the work and resolved all my issues with the van, he didn’t charge me anything because he told me that it wasn’t as bad as he initially thought and didn’t require much work because it was basic rewiring of the control unit that opens and closes the door and replacing three fuses with the appropriate resistance so they wouldn’t keep burning out as they did prior any work being done.
What a great feeling it is to know that there are still some good honest people out there because he is definitely one of them because if I brought it to any other shop, they would of definitely charged me at least the two hours of labor even though Joe told me that it took 45 minutes for his Technicians to repair the issues.
That being said, I will never go anywhere else to have my cars looked at.
Joel helped me with a transmission issue on my handicap accessible van and I had a great experience. He understood how important the van is for my family since I use it to drive my uncle around. He stopped what he was doing to take care of my situation right away. He completed the repair in one day, which made a huge difference for us. He was professional, respectful, and easy to work with. I highly recommend this shop and truly appreciate Joel’s help.

Joseph and his office assistant Emily (out on maternity leave) are awesome! Personable, Knowledgeable, and Professional along with expert top notch work/skills and abilities. Joseph will not leave you unsatisfied as he aims to explain his work in detail, and ensures you know what work needs to be done, why it needs to be done and how he plans to do the work for the best outcome. He gives detailed estimates so you know what you’re paying. He and his business are major assets to the Hudson Valley community. Highly recommended. Pics show I took my RV in to get the ladder it had secured and Joseph discovered major water damage so he repaired/restored the whole back end, including the necessary electrical work and mounting. He did a great job. I can climb up my ladder with confidence it is safe!
Joe has done various services on my pickup and RAV 4. Everything from oil changes, tires and 100,000 miles service. He is a good people person and listens carefully. His competence in performing repairs is noteworthy. He has integrity in his approach to doing business . Joe comes up with creative solutions to odd problems.

I have been to Hudson Automotive several times for repairs and oil changes. I was completely satisfied with the work and the prices. I was online looking for the shop telephone # to make an appointment ,when noticed and read the reviews ....... I DON'T BELIEVE those reviews to be true. If you want a good and honest mechanic go to Joe. I will be making my appointment on Monday.
Having auto problems? Bring vehicle here and you will have Auto nightmares. Very bad bad man. Tells you what you want to hear. Then does not do work, steals your money. Lies about supply chain problems. Lies to your face. Lies on phone. Lies in text messages. Lies in emails. Will lie and say that’s not my customer. Can’t say enough bad issues with the “business”, must be a reason he is in court with old partner. You make the choice.?
I know of three van conversions that have gone wrong at Hudson Automotive Repair and Service or Hudson Automotive Mobility and Conversion, their new name.
One is detailed in Stephen Weinman’s review. This conversion ended up in a lawsuit against Joe Akchayan.
The other two were people who are too nice to write reviews but that’s not really nice to people who may end up going to Hudson Automotive Repair and Service and have similar experiences.
The second van was taken to another conversion center because of multiple problems, and they wouldn’t touch the van, stating the problems with the van were too extensive for them to get involved.
The third van was damaged while at Hudson Automotive Repair and Service and when the van owner complained about it, Joe denied having anything to do with the damage and the argument ended up in him keeping some equipment that was hers.
Joe is absolutely amazing and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. He is polite and you can tell genuinely cares about helping his customers and not trying to rob you for services. Completely satisfied with his work and definitely plan to continue using this shop for the long run! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!!
Had problems with my Honda noises and check engine light, the service writer was very helpful and friendly and got me in immediately definetely recommended if you need repairs done!
Joe is an awesome dude. I ran out of gas near his shop so I came to knock on his door. Not only did he drive me back to my car, he put a gallon in my tank so that I could make it to the gas station. Really solid guy. I’m so grateful!

I highly recommend this shop. I have been taking my van to Captain Vantastic for years and most recently for a routine mobility equipment check. They are always so professional and go above and beyond. I wouldn’t trust any other shop for my mobility needs!!!
