This place was the best when Mike owned it, best mechanic in the area... BUT it has gone downhill since he retired!!! The owner is rude and can't be bothered because he has many other business that he spends more time on. Staff there seems to be a revolving door. I dropped off my car for an alignment and it pulled to the driver side badly after. Then I took my truck in for diagnosis, the truck sat for a week in the back and they never looked at it when they scheduled me on a Monday. I spoke with the owner when I picked it up, he said he had no clue what was done to the truck because he was not in the garage all week.(Apparently my problem) He had no issues with keeping my truck for a week and not even looking at it. I took both vehicles to Rowland St and they were fixed immediately with no issues! Take everything to Rowland Street. Mikes is going downhill fast!!! Current owner is more concerned with other businesses and is so busy he doesn't even remember clients who have been bringing vehicles to his garage for years. Anything good at this shop walked out the door when Mike left. RUN to ROWLAND!
I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else. After years of being loyal to another shop, I had to give Michaels a try in a pinch… one stop was all it took! I spent $800+ over time at another shop, to be told my car had no issue. Phil took one look, fixed the issue and had me out of the door for less than $100. Needless to say, the old rust bucket is gone, and the new ride has only ever been to Michael’s! New or old, these guys will make sure you are aware of what you’re driving, and that it’s in the best possible shape to keep you going!
Great experience everytime! They are honest, efficient and easy to deal with. They give you a detailed bills and let you know about any known upcoming maintenance possibilities or expenses. Also quick with any qoutes or suggestions. Very thankful to them and plan on being a loyal customer. Also they have alternative payment methods for any work. Thank you Michael’s Automotive!!
Michales has been working on and taking care of my cars over the years and they always get them in and out swiftly and fix whatever needs fixing. I’ve used them for years and will continue to and refer then to others !
This is a really good garage to get you in there and they do what they have to do and get you out and a decent amount of time and they were super super patient with my children and I there this morning I appreciate them and all their hard work

I needed new tires and was calling them to schedule having the tires put on my truck. Not only did they set up my appointment but ordered my tires for me which saved me money. They noticed my inspection and service were due and offered to take care of that work also. Everyone is always helpful and great to work with. Being a female having my vehicles worked on and feeling confident that I’m not being upsold on crap I don’t need ID awesome. Getting quality, needed work care of, says something. Great garage and I’d recommend to anyone!
Had an issue with my starter and some fuses in my car. These guys did a great job getting it fixed and running like it was new. Very transparent, fair pricing and speedy service. Can’t recommend them enough.
Mike was able.to get my jeep in to look at within a few hours after my accident and tell me what damage might be. After talking with insurance company had ro get my jeep taken ro another shop to get fixed and Mike was great help with that. I am from out of state and finding someone ro help me quickly was so nice since I don't know the area. I would definitely go back and recommend over amd over again. Thanks for all the help.
*The reason the review was put up a few years later is because I am now needing a new alignment and am looking for a place to have it done. It reminded me of the experience I had. I definitely should have left the review the same day. However, I was too busy fixing the damage to my truck.... Replying to my review and stating you have no record of me implying that i would just, out of nowhere, decide to write a bad review about some random shop just reinforces my decision to not go back. I definitely should have gone back in and said something after I saw the damage and demanded repair. However, after the bad experience, I didn't really want to go back at all.
Went here a couple of years ago. Needed an alignment done on my truck. They were recommended by another mechanic because they have a nice alignment setup. Anyway, I had replaced most of my front-end components, including new upper control arms as well as new alignment cams and bolts. When they were loosening or tightening one of the adjustment cam bolts they must have used and impact in the bolt side as opposite to the nut side, which caused the alignment cam to break the alignment pin that the cam rides on. When the truck was ready, they told me what happened except blamed the issue on the truck being rusty. However, everything in the front end was new and should have been very easy to adjust and tighten by hand. They said the alignment pin was broken and would require welding to fix. However, alignment pins on my truck just press in with vice grips. I ended up fixing it myself. The frustrating part is they broke something due to their own negligence and just gave it back and charged full price. If I break something that I'm working on and it's totally my fault, I'm obligated to fix it. Even if it will cause me to lose money because it's my fault. This fix would have been simple. Yes, they would need to take the front end apart to do it, but that's the right thing to do. I'm guessing they assumed it would be the last alignment the truck ever got, which isn't the case. The truck is still running and driving great, and I have alignments done by another place that knows what they are doing. I don't know if they actually thought it required welding to fix or just told me that thinking I didn't know enough about the way the alignment system works on the truck. I didn't cause any issue when checking out. I just know now where to not have work done on my vehicles.
Went here for a second opinion on my vehicle. A little bit of a roller coaster, but they ended up matching what a major dealership had said ultimately (engine replacement required). The team there took the time and went above and beyond and resolved the issue without needing to replace the engine. To note, this could easily have been a "just replace it and it's much easier situation." For whatever reason, the shop did some extra work (which I personally probably would have shot myself in the foot trying to do for the headache it probably would have caused) and saved me about 3500 dollars.
So kudos to you, Michael's automotive. Glad I went here off of a somewhat whimsical recommendation from a local customer. Definitely plan on returning for future maintenance items.
Still waiting on the vehicle (for other unrelated things), but considering it's (safely) drivable again and they have been super easy to work with, I decided to leave a review.
We just relocated to the area and had an emergency with my car. I just started a new job, don’t have any family in the area, and was absolutely panicked regarding the situation. I originally brought my car to a different mechanic and didn’t have the best experience. If I could give this place a billion stars I would. They answered all my questions, were very responsive, charged what needed to be fixed, and was very timely in the repairs. The only positive thing about car issues is coming here!

I was travelling and called ahead to make an appointment, because I needed to get new tires for my Honda Pilot. The tires were the original and were pretty worn (36k), but some road debris made it an emergency replacement. They stayed a little late, got me some great new tires, and the price was better than fair.
They absolutely deserve their high rating!
All around great service here. They keep you informed about your vehicle and what it needs now and in the future. Example I thought I need breaks but I was wrong and informed that my break are good for another couple of months. Other place in my experience would have just done them because I said hey I need breaks but not here they definitely look out for you.
I had an emergency with my car when the trunk wouldn’t close due to broken tailgate lifts. I called for quick assistance, and they were very accommodating and helpful. They scheduled me in the same day and promptly removed the faulty parts. Their service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely return here and highly recommend them.

Bought a 2014 Elantra there almost a month ago—-such an easy smooth process, everyone was really friendly and helpful. The car was in great condition, the tech went through it again before they let me buy it—I would definitely purchase from them again and will most definitely be using them for any auto care I need.

I had FANTASTIC service at Michael's Automotive in Ballston Spa yesterday! I accidentally dropped off my car one week early without realizing until I got home -- I called the shop to see if they wanted me to come pick it up, but they didn't even bat an eye! My car was serviced (oil change and inspection) and fixed (new back break pads) within a few hours, with great communication along the way. My Toyota Sienna is now ready to hit the open road. It goes a long way to have a local auto repair shop you can trust! Our family receives this level of service every time we bring a vehicle to Michael's. Thank you!

Absolutely made a customer for life. They gave it to me straight and I felt they were extremely reasonable for the all the work they did. I've been hosed quite a few times going to the various chains and dealerships in the area and it admittedly put me off a little too long from getting some needed work done.
Glad I went with my gut and gave them a call - there's a reason people trust them with their classic cars and there's always a full lot out front. These guys rock, they're honest, and they had a sense of humor about me getting my money's worth on my old set. 😂
Brakes and rotors all around a 5yo Jeep with an added caliper and hose, plus labor was <$1350 with the tax. I honestly was expecting a to be charged a little less for just brakes and rotors so I was pleasantly surprised and happy they ensured I was going to leave with a vehicle that was going to continue stopping.
Happy to know the money is going back into my community and neighbors. I'll be back once the bank account recovers to get my tires done. No more Mavis for this lady!
Went to michaels after mavis tire in ballston spa ran my car off the alignment rack and did body damage. Then they said they couldn't align the car so I took it to michaels. They aligned the car and it drives great!!!! They also looked under my car for damage at no extra cost. Super professional and honest. I will be returning in the future. Highly recommended
