What clients say about Target in New York (NY)

A very stubborn and nasty person working in the toy department didn't want to give me a Hot Wheels even though I was holding it in my hand. I have never met such a stubborn and strange person

10/13/2025 - every day and every night, Target leaves these carts all over the sidewalk.

Felt racially discriminated. Employee takes my basket and mug while I started scanning after I told her I was paying credit card for the self checkout. She asked whether I was going to Pay cash or card which was weird because when I go to self check out, no one approaches me and scans my item. Spoke with the manager and he claims he will talk to her and that it was “a misunderstanding” I’m going to another location. Not only is it sparse but the employees treat their customers poorly. Such a a shame too as I am a regular.

The staff was friendly and courteous, the only problem I had was they didn't have a vegan frozen food section. But the store was clean and modern.

On August 27, 2025, in the afternoon, I visited the Target store at 500 E 14th St, New York, NY 10009-3336 while on vacation. I am 64 years old with diabetes and disabilities and urgently needed to use the restroom. When I asked two employees at the entrance (a young man and a young woman) where the restroom was, they told me the store did not have one. Later, another employee told me the restroom was “out of order.” I was left in a very stressful situation and felt completely disregarded. Because of this, I left the store without making any purchases. The lack of honesty, compassion, and accommodation for a disabled senior was very upsetting. Target should train its employees at this location to treat customers with respect and provide accurate information, especially for people with health conditions.

This location is understocked. Items I need are always unavailable. Home section especially there are shelves empty for days. Store needs to look after their stock and replenish often.

They don't pick up their phones, and if you let it ring they'll hang up on you. Lol Crazy... I called early in the AM. Guess I have to walk all the way there for an answer to a simple question that would have taken 5 seconds of their time. Smh

None of the hand sanitizer machines work— gross why would I buy groceries here knowing that???

They don't follow the policy of price matching. I clearly show them the product that is being sold at target and it's a available and ready for pick up but they say sorry we can't do that... Terrible store

Poor selection. Basic amenities like restrooms appear permanently “out of order.” Hardly a target at all.

Came here during the holidays to buy Hanukkah candles and they didn't have any. They had oodles of Christmas stuff, sure. It felt kind of antisemitic. Given their eagerness to abandon DEI at the drop of a hat... Seems sus...

I walked in to ask about a pokemon card product i wanted to buy. The item showed that it has been in stock for days. I was told they didnt have that item in stock. The excuse was the item could have been stolen or they just didn't have it. I asked why does it say it's in stock, Anamarie the "Manager" at the time was basically saying they dont have any control of their stock information and couldn't have the item be changed to say it's actually out of stock from the Target website. Target!, this is very inconvenient. It is very inconvenient to travel and loose time heading to your locations to then be told an item is no where to be found.

tried to buy a charging cable. It's in a locked display. Tried the automated request help button, nobody came. Asked two employees for help, neither had the right key, both called on their walkie-talkies for someone with the right key and nobody came. I think it is not possible to buy tech here.

The store is clean. Employees are friendly and helpful. Shelves are full and everyday items are always able.

The location is small, usually under-stocked and uncomparable to the locations outside of lower Manhattan. My severe issue is possible racial profiling and surveillance done by the loss prevention and security. Yesterday as I waited for the restroom, I noticed two loss prevention specialists rush out of the room they were in, make eye contact with me then left the area! I'm always being watched so I didn't think much of this as it's the norm at the Lower East Side Manhattan Target locations. I'm guessing they must've been told to watch me at the bathroom EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T TOUCH A SINGLE ITEM IN THE STORE YET! I kept this in the back of my mind until I exited. Beforehand, I stopped to lotion up when I noticed loss prevention AGAIN eyeing me IN A CROWDED STORE! I know she was watching me because as soon as we made eye contact, she looked away. Stop weaponizing black loss prevention employees against surveillance black patrons. It's unethical! It's already intentional that the employee demographic is mostly non-Black Latino/Hispanic with black people usually doing surveillance/loss prevention. I may look like I steal but I don't! I won't spend another dime here and I'd frequent the location a few times a week! Cut it out!

Target closed its store uptown "due to crime" even though the statistics didn't support it. I have come to this location multiple times when I visit family in the area. Every single time I have stopped by, the guard by the entrance is on his phone. Perhaps Target should revisit it's stance that it has employed every method to prevent crime.

I am not sure if the location moved across street but this is the 14th Union Square Target. It is pretty busy but not too busy for it’s location. Great place to buy water/snack. There is a small grocery section which isn’t bad. Overall a good target store.

The workers here are so rude and lack basic customer service skills. You can approach them nicely and the women especially in the makeup section will still meet you with an attitude unless you’re white. Literally live across the street and every time I ask if they can unlock some of the products it’s always huffing and puffing or some smart remark like “you see me walking to the case right”. Lack of any type of training- home training and customer service.

RUN from this place...the customer is always last at this location. Every single day, there are rude employees who ignore customers. Every single day, there are endless boxes and carts of products that need to be packed out onto the shelves...rather than doing it in the overnight or first thing in the morning, it is done throughout the day. Often to the detriment of the shopping experience since you can't get a shopping cart around a lot of these aisles because of the boxes, etc. Today I go in and the soda, bread, produce and dairy sections are ALL empty. Why? They’re doing inventory which, according to them, will take three days. So that’s three days of no product in the aforementioned sections….yeah, they care about the consumer. Right….I have a bridge I can sell you…

The smallest target I’ve seen, so I went to Target a couple of times before and needlessly to say it’s what you expect, however they have lots of options in stock that goes over variety of items to suit your needs such as office, school supplies, home decorating, furniture, electronics and such. Quite surprised to see how much they sell in a store. The service was great, one time I purchased a sketchbook which were damaged right as soon as I flipped a page, so I refunded the item. They were really nice and understanding about my issue with the product. So got my cash back, were able to buy a different Sketchbook that were a lot better. Great service, but my advice would be, check on items that you buy.

The security at door today(March19th am) is awesome. Give him a break. The ladies in red shirt are rude, helpless and rac1st. Specially the one with "Love is Love" tshirt. Not all hispanic are thieves.... dummie.

This is the smallest target I have seen so far but surprisingly they managers to have complete variety in that place including clothes, groceries, toys, fruits, crockery, cell phones etc. I have bought couple of thing and prices were also reasonable.

When I heard that Target was opening in my neighborhood, I was thrilled. In fact, its first few months of being opened I shopped there almost every other week, abandoning other longstanding favorites of mine. But over the last 6 months, the store has only seemed to get worse, with its only redeeming qualities being its cheery, helpful employees, its occasional good-find, and its commendable handling of reopening during the pandemic. My main issue is the disparity between what Target is known to be stellar at (HIGH-QUALITY goods, across a wide VARIETY, priced incredibly REASONABLY) and the products that this particular store carries. I know that space is a challenge for any Manhattan store, but the Home section, for example, carries the same basic, unchanging products. Nothing as appealing as Target's Jersey City or Harlem store. It's a shame because, for example, I saw a wide collection of peel-and-stick wallpaper both at other stores and online but could not for the life of me find it at this location at any point in the last year. Again, it's always the same rather basic hardware products with a couple of pillows/throws. Manhattan shoppers are often sophisticated and fickle. Whoever is running this location should know especially that in the East Village, the opportunity for loyalty can be huge should Target focus on unique, innovative, affordable products both for the home and for groceries. No one is going there to buy clothes. Nonetheless, the staff continues to be helpful, and the shopping experience itself is rather hassle-free with good energy. If only the company would focus on supplying more appealing products, then I'm sure not only me but many others will be encouraged to visit and shop more frequently.

First time testing order pickup. Placed my order in the afternoon and pickup was ready within an hour. Took a moment for an employee to service the desk but once I got someone’s attention they got me what I needed right away.

Ever since i lived in California, Target was a preferrence it has grocery, electronic and department store, they even have pharmacy here. Reason i like this 14 st. location. I can look for electronic or personal apparel at the same time do grocery. Today i was looking for DSLR camera for good deal prices. I know they have some sale from time to time. I did buy some electronics here before like printer, sd cards etc. They do have some few entry level cameras, not the full frame camera i was looking for. Then i proceeded to look for me some winter stuff and do grocery instead. Staff are helpful here and ready to answer and look for items you need.

Idk guys. At first I was like no way target belongs here. But like.. the prices are good and at the end of the day I’m a consumer. That said, I’ve been here a few times now and it always seems understocked somehow. Idk if it’s a busy location or what. And whenever I try to preorder online, this location seems to never have the item I’m looking for. I put a bunch of photos so maybe you guys can see what I’m talking about. This home goods section does seem pretty useful here and I notice that the makeup aisles always seem busy so I put a bunch of pics of that so maybe that’ll be useful.

Excellent Target Amazing E. 14th Location near Union Square. 14th Street is one of the best blocks in Manhattan and this brand new Target lives up to the expectation. Great store, great customer service, nice modern architecture. They have everything you need from paper to electronics to produce, plus some unique items like a cool mini table tennis set I picked up. After dessert we transform the dining room table into a ping pong table.

They sell so many different things here. Small appliances, iPads (but not computers), greeting cards, clothing (of course), fresh and frozen foods like a smallish grocery store. Two floors of new construction. Still has the new store smell haha!
