I have been going to Sam's Auto shop for my cars for a few years now. As we all know, unless you are a real car mechanic, you have to rely on your auto shop to tell you what's wrong with your car, what it needs, and how much it will cost. You are pretty much at their mercy. I recently had an experience that made me realize how honest, caring and reliable Sam's Auto shop is. My son had borrowed our older Jeep Patriot and had travelled to Vermont with it. When he returned back to Brooklyn, the car was making weird noises when he turned the steering wheel. I told him to get it checked with a local Greenpoint mechanic who his friend uses. The Brooklyn mechanic looked at the Jeep and came up with $2700 bill which included, oil change, brake fluid, power steering pressure line, return bleed and refill system, alignment, heater core, engine mount, front tires, front and rear brake pad and rotors. WHAT!!! I had them do the oil change and power steering which still cost me $800 and brought it back to Sam. He put the car up on the lift and assured me there was nothing wrong with the brakes, charged me nothing. I just wanted to share this story and say Sam's the best.

My son went here to get our car inspected. They looked it over and claimed our time belt is stretched, and we’d have to replace it for nearly $3000. I took the car to another auto shop that we’ve been using for decades, and they said nothing was wrong with our time belt. It can’t be stretched since it’s made of stainless steel instead of rubber. Instead we replaced the battery and several other parts for much cheaper and were on our way. Be careful of deceitful auto shops like this location. Won’t be coming back here
After having been a customer for years, I had a rude awakening. After making arrangements to leave the car for a few days to get work done & pick it up Sunday, Sam informed me (when I arrived Thursday) that I could not pick the car up on Sunday. (The conversation had been clear, as I was getting a taxi to Sam’s from the airport Sunday evening. I was going to use a spare key to get my car & return for it during the week when I pay for the work.)
So here I am, with a Lyft on its way to Sam’s, and no place to keep my car while I’m away. Does Sam care? Didn’t appear to. (I’ve seen the other side of Sam - the one that doesn’t want to be inconvenienced.
By the way, if you see a $50 special for Mobil 1 oil, you may want to ask if he’s using Mobil 1.
I see now that Sam replied. Even more surprising— he won’t make any accommodation at all, even letting me pick up my car when he’s closed - even though the only reason I was going in was because his team stripped the oil plug when they changed my oil.
No, I don’t regularly need a mechanic on a weekend. And I will certainly now never return or recommend Sam to anyone else - he’s a business man, nothing else. Good for him; I’m sure he’ll do well. I’d rather associate with more genuinely nice people — makes me feel better & I tend to avoid situations like this one. Good luck, Sam!
I too thought Sam was most honest guy,went to him all the time(4 years) & believed all he said... Told others to go there...was havin an issue starting car,kept knocking,said I needed new starter,ok...put it in...went to vt that weekend car stalled out,he said it's the sensor (ck engine light)....funny but car was still knocking.....then it died...got triple A ...now he said I need a new battery,put it in.....now his staff said I needed brakes,very bad,other tech said I can wait till next oil change (5000 mi) this happened twice with techs there giving me diff opinions....took the car elsewhere to check brakes & a dealer too,both said brakes were fine.....now Sam tells me I have an oil leak,that I have to bring my car to him every 2 weeks to put oil in,and car should last another 100,000 miles...duh!!!! R u kidding??Wake up call.... absolutely heartbroken,probably never needed a starter,shoulda asked him for it,he shoulda gave me old one,all I needed was a battery,I hope that was new....u should give me back $450 for starter charge....shame on u Sam....how dare u....will let ALL KNOW!!!

Highly recommend Sam’s Auto Shop in Manhasset. I used to take my car to Glen Cove but once I found Sam, my family only come here for maintenance and fixing up the car. Sam and all the staff are friendly and so efficient.
So lucky to find such an honest and trustworthy mechanic in this area.
Sam is one of the most honest mechanics I have ever met, and a good man.
I had an issue with my break on my BMW and Sam had a good idea what the issue might be. Sam diagnosed the issue and spent a few hours on it. To my surprise he didn't charge me anything (even insisted), as the issue required BMW service intervention.
I highly recommend him!
Not only was Sam knowledgeable and pleasant to work with, the shop was fast and did excellent work on my car. A good mechanic is hard to find, look no further if you need repair work!
My wife came here today because not only she had a flat but she had trouble removing the spare tire from the car which was stuck. Long story short, the helping folks at Sam's troubleshot our problem and figured it out! I wish I live nearby so I can service my car at Sam's. Great shop great people!

One of very few good auto mechanics in an industry littered with scammers, especially in the North Hempstead area. This team is honest, reliable, and fast. As a matter of fact, they do the fastest oil change, lube, and tire rotation I've ever seen in over ten years of driving, and that's every visit out of the several I've been there for that. Not to mention, they have the best prices in town. Highly recommended.

There is friendly staff, fantastic customer service, very reliable, and they don't charge you an arm and a leg like other places. And becose I'm so happy with this shop I can't give it any less then 5 stars.
When looking for a good Auto shop you are always skeptical. I have had my pit falls in the search but once I stepped through the doors of Sams I knew it would be different I was not treated like a number but family. I love all the way in Patchogue and would make the trek out to Manhasset to have Sams Auto take care of my Ford. Turnaround time on my car was amazing and everyone so friendly!
I have nothing but great things to say about Sam's Auto Shop. I was in Manhasset for an event and wanted my Tesla detailed prior to it. I saw this shop and stopped to check it out. The owner worked with me directly and I felt extremely comfortable letting them detail my car especially due to his long history in the auto industry. Everyone I interacted with was professional and enthusiastic about the work they were doing. I highly recommend Sam's Auto Shop for their great work and the excellent services that are priced competitively.
I love Sam’s Auto Shop! Sam’s is the only auto shop I’ll go to because the owner is trust worthy and they offer quality work which is so valuable these days!
