What clients say about A & T Towing in Brooklyn (NY)

There’s currently a 6 hour wait to get your car back after you pay, and they’re making everyone wait in a line outside, and it is feels like 10 degrees outside. They’re getting each car one at a time and towing all the cars blocking it one at a time to get each one out. There are one 15 people waiting with the 6 hour delay.

My girlfriend and I got her car booted at Grand Central Station we paid for a parking spot that we were not allowed to be parked at definitely a learning curve for us considering it was our third time in New York City a police officer was very helpful to tell us what to do we ended up having to get a cab ride to the towing company and then back to our car within a 2-hour time. I just wish the signs warn you it was more or less the inconvenience plus the $185 boot fee I thought we would just get a ticket and I would think oh yeah I'll just pay it by mail but nonetheless my girlfriend and I turned a negative into a positive the women at the window were very helpful you need your rental agreement or license and registration Insurance all your information

My experience here at the NYPD Brooklyn Tow Pound was nothing but positive. It was early in the morning. I ran into a problem where I had to email paper for them to process my request. Supervisor N Ligon step in, walked me thru what I needed to do and solved my problem with the most professional and positive attitude. I read all the reviews before I got here and was not looking forward to being here. But N. Limon made all my fears melt away with her help. I went in there stressed and walked away with a good experience that made the start of my day better.

Unfortunately, ibhad to deal with a towed car. No one enjoys this. What shoukd have been a seemless process was nothing but. Just another day in NYC

After paying for the towing, I waited more than two hours to get my car back. They get a lot of money for towing, and after you pay, you have to wait all day to get your car back.

So I unknowingly parked in a no standing zone and came back to find my car missing. Ok, it’s been towed to Brooklyn Navy yard. Now this is an objectively unpleasant situation. I make my way out there and come up to the window (as I was entering, a man had just left and slammed the door behind him). I made a conscious effort to be cool, calm, patient. I just want my car back. And the lady behind the window starts getting short with me because, apparently, I wasn’t moving fast enough for her?? It was one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever experienced. Fine, I wasn’t gonna let her get to me even though she kept trying. “205” she blurts out, expecting me know she’s asking me for a form of payment. I’m sorry you’re so miserable about your job, I was honestly just trying to be the cooperative “customer” but I guess they really just want to see you unhappy.

MS Lewis deserves a lot of flowers so sweet helpful and funny. The police escort Mr. YU, just a charm during the stressful moments. i mean when it comes to customer service they all at this impound deserve so many flowers. they are so dope and respectful i love them as i tend to see them a lot lol yet i must say they work with you and provide time for each customer, I defiantly can say no matter how much money I have to pay I am gone leave with a smile, due to the outstanding service, They didn't know I am a forensic pathologist for NYC yet i am giving them the biggest review. Yall rock keep being great.

I guess it depends on the person you get because by God’s grace the woman I got was wonderful and very sweet. So were the officers. I practically waited no time. I know everyone’s experience is different but just remember even if a person is rude and unprofessional doesn’t mean we have to be. Kill people with kindness and trust me it really does go a long way. Either way I had a good experience

I messed up, parked in the wrong place, but instead of towing, the officer called his supervisor and let the supervisor know I was on the way. So like the Flash trying to make it home before Super Friends begins, I ubered to the facility. After standing in line for a while, I realized there is a boot line. The people in line were great. Should have made a business contact with the BCG dude, but missed that opportunity. Best of all were the security guards from FJC. Shane Jones has the patience of job dealing with disgruntled individuals in line. From what I overheard, he's both a priest and a therapist. I almost wanted to act up to get his words of wisdom. His colleague Jose Perez was also helpful. Finally, Daniel Chu at the front desk was professional and quick. Look, it's a bad situation. We're all subject to the system in place, and the people there are highly professional. As such, five stars.

Car was towed for being too close to a bus stop in the only legit spot between the bus stop and a pump. The car had no tickets. The website says vehicles will not be towed or booted unless they have $300 or more in unpaid fines. The reason for 3 stars is because it took about 10 minutes and $185 to get my car back. If it wasn't for that...

0/5 Stars This place is very slow they had a huge line 5 windows & 2 or 3 workers the worker I was with was taking their time with everything & moving very slowly I waited outside for their driver to take me to my car for way too long in the freezing cold when I did eventually get to my car they had some other issue I had to go back inside so they can fix & wait outside again... overall the whole process took way too long if you have to come here be prepared to have A LOT of patience.

Mixed experience with employee interactions. Some were nice, some were not. Some do NOT know how traffic law works and some think that they know better about my car when I spent thousands of dollars modifying my car.
Don’t interact with old asian employee, he is sassy and likely won’t be helpful.Feb 28, 2025 -
Never come here bro. I parked my car 3 feet from a hydrant in si and had it towed all the way here. Let me just tell u the staff were all so miserable and lazy it was actually unreal. One of them came to the booth for 5 mins and then decided to dip, another bald guy was literally falling asleep behind the desk and another woman was just walking around w her AirPods in not doing shit either. There were about 8-10 ppl in front of me when i came there at 2 pm and spent a whole 2 hours there until i finally got to get the car back. Idk why gotta pay all these taxes and congestion pricing when clearly that money ain’t getting spent to hire competent people for these jobs.

I waited 2 hours and more to get to the windows, there are more than 39 people and only 1 window open, the stuff is extremely rude and yelled at me for something I don’t understand, the security guard guy is the only nice guy there. He actually try to help. Unprofessional and inhuman,

Staff wasn’t the nicest honestly. The security guard at the front was great however. Clearly coming here is the last thing a person wants to do and then to be treated rudely, really? And although I wanted to scream and cry, I was extremely nice to the staff and got such rude responses back. Like there is no way to contact them and I could barley find this place excuse me that this doesn’t happen to me everyday and I need some guidance or instruction. On top of everything (not that this is the establishments fault) why on earth do I have to go all the way to Brooklyn in order to get a boot off my car? You’re telling me there’s no way I can pay online or over the phone and avoid a $50 uber from Manhattan and then one back? It’s ridiculous. Teaching me a lesson? Maybe. That’s the only logical thing I can think of. My car ended up getting towed as I was on the way to pay for the boot since it is a 30 minute drive. Have to check if anything’s missing, since someone fully went inside my car (also crazy). How is this allowed? Not really sure who operates the NYC traffic department but boy do I have a bone to pick with them.

It feels weird to positively rate a tow pound given it’s not a place anyone wants to be but the staff here was really amazing, they deserve some kudos. From the security guard to the people behind the counter to the lady that drove me to my car to the cop that stamped by recipient when I left - all the staff seemed to genuinely take pride in their jobs and making this as good of an experience as possible for the customers.

PSA: Inspect your car inside and out for missing items! Over $2000 worth of personal property went missing!
I parked my car at a metered spot outside of Mt Sanai West Hospital because my wife went into labor. After she got admitted I went back out to grab our infant carseat and our bags filled with clothes for our hospital stay.
Of course, I went back 15 minutes later and the car is missing. Long story short, I went to the impound facility, paid over $550 dollars to get my car back. Drove back to the hospital and realized our belongings were missing.
I had winter jackets, tote bags and my MacBook in a backpack in the trunk. Our winter jackets are $900 each and my MacBook is $2300. This is $3200 worth of personal property removed from my vehicle. I called the facility immediately since I did not want to leave my wife again and miss the birth of my first child.
Days and weeks went by with me calling every single day and no response. After 2 weeks, someone finally answers the phone and was able to check. I was assured that the officers would only go into a car to remove items if the car is being auctioned. I was told to go back to the impound lot to file a claim which I did and nothing has come out of it.
I am confident that I did NOT leave my bags and jackets outside on the street between parking and walking across the street into the hospital. So please, everyone make sure you have all your belongings before driving your car off their facility.
Gave this 5-star rating for awareness, this experience was unpleasant to say the least.
Good luck to those reading this!Dec 12, 2024 -
If I could give this place nagtive stars I would without hesitation. People working there are the slowest I've experienced anywhere in a long time. Inexcusable to have to wait almost 2 hours with 7 people ahead of you to get your car out. Hire more people if you can't handle demand. You charge enough for Towing and keeping your car on site to have all windows open for customer service. To top it off, no ac but a fan to rip move the air. Very low for New York city. You must do better!

Went on a Tuesday at 10 AM. The facility was practically empty, there was no one in the line for picking up toad vehicles, which is what I was there for so I was seen immediately and helped pretty efficiently I was picking up my bosses car so even though I had an irregular situation going on, I was able to get my car within 25 minutes. Will say not happy about the toe situation aside from the obvious, it being towed, as the back of the car is damaged from the tow hook. Seen in photo.

The NYPD Tow damaged my car in September 2023, about $1,000 worth, and the city will not reimburse me for damages after I submitted evidence and filed a complaint with the city. Has anyone else experienced this?

This morning, I just parked in front of my store to drop off some things, and when I came out, I found my car had been towed. I called 311 and ended up at this dreadful place, where there are over 30 people in line and only 2 service windows. I waited in line for more than 2 hours. The staff here are extremely inefficient and very rude. This is a trap funded by the New York City government. A ticket would have been enough to solve the problem, so why tow my car to this filthy place?

Total horrendous human bein that works in the front desk, the women was beyond rude and disgusting she threw my card and pen at the window, I didn’t even give her any reason to act this way toward me, I was very calm and polite considering I got my car towed that day and have to pay to get it out and pay $115 ticket. At the same time of our very short conversation she cut me off so that she can receive food while giving me services. While she was getting her food, I was turned around at the front of the desk on my phone waiting for her to be done receiving her food she made a nasty remark to me on why I shouldn’t be turned around, meanwhile I was just waiting patiently for her. This person shouldn’t be working in services whatsoever, I don’t even care if somebody has a bad day, you don’t treat people like that, by far the worst encounter with a person I’ve ever experienced.

Horrible service!! What can you expect from city workers. They dropped my car off the back of the tow truck and didn’t say nothing like I was not going to notice !!

Horrible customer service at desk
Transporting police was nice and a little funny.
Took 7 hours to get my car back with the right paper workFeb 25, 2023 -
The lady has the poker face’s service is the best! $185 for valet parking in NYC is so worth that! They don’t need the key for your car and leave your car at anywhere in NYC! Sweet! I asked if they provided monthly membership payment, unfortunately they don’t have that option! No matter what I will suggest this place for my friends! I will come back again for sure!

Went back to get my car out (parking was suspended but i guess that wasn't the case) only to discover my front license plate was on the ground damaged. Told the officer and told me to ask for a supervisor. Asked me to fill out a form and it will take 30 days and suggested I go get it fixed since there was no screws to put it back. I guess not since you hired anyone and they did this to a plate. Rude for sure

Employees are surprisingly nice. Extremely slow, but nice. But NYPD towing is a racket and nightmare. I was ticketed at 8:47am, and towed at 9:02am, for an unpaid meter. Ridiculous in itself, but after looking up my plate at 9:09am, the online city system said the vehicle was towed to Pier 76 (see screenshot). Got there after 30mins and found out that Pier 76 was actually shut down last year. By then the same online system was apparently updated and said to go to Brooklyn Navy Yard. Another hour of transit. What a mess and unnecessary waste of time and money.

My car was towed from 35 Clark Street today - and every police officer I met there said this tow facility was open 24 hours - and I could go get it rightaway. I live in NJ so I had to rush. When I reached there , there was one lady on duty , who said it is closed now and reopen only on Mon July 5th at 9 PM ! I don't understand this system- if you tow my car any time , should I not also have the option to retrieve it anytime ? I had to Uber back to NJ for about $165 . Now I have to Uber back on Monday, and hope they open at 9 PM as promised

Nobody is happy walking in this place or spending money to get their car out. It's not the employees fault. In my experience if you go in with a good attitude with all the money and paperwork you need (information that is freely available to you online before going) you will not have any issues.
Remember to be kind when you go in. If your car is towed you are in a frustrated position but sending that anger towards the tow yard isnt going to make your day easier. They deal with alot of angry all day long. If you think they're acting a certain type of way, they probably are. Have to have a tough skin to work here.
That being said, the employees do need to have some semblance of empathy for everyone's situation.Oct 09, 2019 -
Had extremely bad experience with Thrifty and you guys.
I rented car for 2 days. Car has been towed. My bad. I went to Brooklyn Tow Pound Facility, but there was ELECTRIC OUTAGE there. As it was Saturday, and at Sunday i had ticket back to home, i asked how we can resolve that situation. Brooklyn Pound officer record my name, took a picture, that i was there, took keys and reach out thrifty. Thrifty representative went to take my car after 2(!!) weeks, and all this time i called and explained situation to Thrifty 1 million times. They told okay, we understand it's not your fault, we will figure out. After all Thrifty charged me for 2200$ and stopped to take my calls.
Worst worst experience. Extremely disappointed in you guys. Hopefully somebody will take actions about thisSep 08, 2019
