This location used to be a good place to thrift, but whoever is pricing things now is pricing things at about 3x what they were about two years ago. A lot of the jeans are $30?!? Jackets are $70-80?!? Your non-profit helps people..I understand that, but your inventory is 100% free, and there is certainly no shortage of it coming through your doors.
I am assuming that it is understood that most of the people shopping here are doing so because they have limited budgets, and it is disappointing to see that go completely unacknowledged by a company whose mission statement is all about helping those in need - feels like even Goodwill is out there putting profits over people.Jan 29, 2026 -
Outrageous pricing—this is no longer a thrift store. Charging $40 for basic shirts and $80 for standard coats is absurd. You are better off shopping retail elsewhere.

This place is extremely over priced. The employees walk around with sad faces. It’s a horrible place to shop. Not to mention no parking.

Thank you so much, Goodwil employee. I forgot my bag right next to the shelf and left the store. I called the and let them know. I'm so lucky that one of the employees noticed it and took it. All my documents and personal belongings are safe and sound. Thank you so much! I was afraid it would be stolen

I love this goodwill! The workers are really nice and you can get really good deals with the half off tags each week.

Goodwill is no longer a thrift store, but a second hand retail store. Their practices do not align with their so called mission statement. Some of the employees here are rude and the prices are outrageous for items that are not only used, dated, and need mending, but are DONATED to them. My tip is… shop mom & pop thrifts which actually keep the funds in YOUR community. For those donating, find a real nonprofit to give your stuff to. There are MANY community centers/churches/organizations around the city that have a pay-what-you-CAN/free model. One which actually helps students, young professionals, the homeless, and low-income families get necessities without breaking the bank. You’re online, do your research. I went there and was so disappointed at how it has changed. I remember going there when I was a kid and stumbling onto a great find that my mom wouldn’t hesitate spending money on. It was a great feeling. That is no longer the case. Do better Good? Will.

Pretty small Goodwill and the majority of the store is just clothes with a small section up front with housewares, books, and games. The shelves are pretty disorganized but that's to be expected at a Goodwill. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was incredibly busy and the line took up most of the store so I ended up not buying anything.

I usually buy regularly at this store. I went today and I wanted to purchase one wool jacket, at the counter the cashier said that she couldn’t sell me the jacket. She said the price was wrong($9.99). I ask explanation since I pick it up from the racks that came out today. She went to the manager and came back with a price changed to $19.99. I really think that was a very not correct behaviour. If employee mislabeled on the back that was not my fault. The lady at the cashier was very unprofessional. This will be last time that I shop here. Being an honest customer is probably not acceptable in this goodwill center.
Know the law: If the store has a price tag on the item, they must honor that price.Nov 12, 2025 -
Despite being open until 7pm, the staff at this location blocks off a huge section of the store at 5pm to “close the fitting rooms” when they could just…block the fitting rooms. Apparently people who work a 9-5 aren’t allowed to shop for skirts. You’ll find the whole section blocked off by clothing racks that could have easily just been placed in front of the fitting room doors instead of preventing paying customers from browsing an entire section. Ridiculous.

Often overpriced, seldom courteous. The staff here frequently acts both indifferent and short-fused. I was trying something on in front of the mirror when an employee stated “We’re not allowing customers to use the mirror” and she put the clothing rack in front of it. If you find something you like but it happens to not have a tag, you will not be allowed to purchase it. I guess they don’t want to make money? Lastly, when leaving the store empty handed near closing time an employee shook his head and said “Y’all came in and didn’t even buy anything, that’s crazy.” Crazy because y’all wouldn’t SELL WHAT I WANTED TO BUY. Some serious training is needed for this location.

I spent nearly three hours thrifting at this Goodwill. Tried on about 25 pairs of jeans and finally found 9 I really liked. The associates on the floor were relatively helpful, but the experience completely soured once I got to the register.
The cashier, Davita G., had a dismissive attitude from the start. When I presented my Goodwill key card, she said “we don’t do that anymore” and looked up my account by phone number. Oddly, she claimed I “wasn’t in the system”, yet somehow managed to spell my uncommon name correctly and confirm my last initial. I could be wrong but It felt like she just wanted credit for a new sign-up or something. She also mentioned they “can’t tell you your points balance”, which made no sense. Why not?
Then came the jeans issue. Two pairs didn’t have barcodes, even though they had the correct color-coded tags. Instead of finding a way to ring them up or match them to the other seven pairs (which were all similarly priced), she flat-out refused to sell them — and wouldn’t even let me place them on hold. She told me they’d need to be “repriced” and I’d just have to come back and “search the racks” again. That’s BEYOND RIDICULOUS after hours of effort.
To top it off, she rounded up my purchase WITHOUT my permission. Normally, I’d be happy to donate, but her attitude made that decision for me and it wasn’t a yes.
I love thrifting and usually enjoy Goodwill, but this store’s customer service at checkout was unacceptable. It’s a shame, because the rest of the staff on the floor were nice.Oct 07, 2025 -
Came in today and fell in love with a wool sweater that somehow didn’t have a tag on it. I purchased my other items and assumed that they would just need to reticket the item. However I was met with the nastiest attitude from assistant manager Janacia. She insinuated (loudly and in front of other customers) multiple times that I popped the tag off myself. She doubled down on this by saying that the item was a “boutique item” suggesting that it was high value and therefore I might be trying to steal it. I thought it was strange that she knew it was a “boutique item” just by looking at it even though it didn’t have a tag I had paid for my other items and was basically begging for them to tag the item so i can pay for it. I asked to speak to the higher up multiple times and Janacia refused to go get her, I waited more than 45 minutes for the general manager Alieen who was extremely rude as well. This in addition to the dressing room attendant unlocking & opening my door THREE SEPRATE TIMES as I was changing leads me to believe i was racially profiled and assumed to be stealing because i am a black woman. Either way I will be seeking legal counsel to pursue this matter in court.

Literally the most asinine policies - you’re a clothes store and you’re going to close the fitting rooms an hour before you close? Oh, and the mirror to try anything outside of the fitting room has a rack and a rude employee in front of it?

Not bad. Quite busy and crowded but they have a decent selection. Not super big for a thrift store. I'd mostly come for clothes, a lot of the other stuff just feels random and junky (like the toys, jewelry, etc.). They organize by color, at least in the women's section, which I really like for some reason. They also have dressing rooms! Worth the trip for sure.

Lots of women’s clothing options, small men’s section, and a very small kids section. Large section of dishes, mostly plates and cups. I’ve been going here for years and in recent months, the line is always VERY long. On my last two visits in the past few months, the cashiers rounded up my purchase without asking me. This is not ok!! When does the fitting room close? They closed it at 5:45 the other day and the store closes at 7.
Updated 5/30/25: this location now has toys, games, and housewares! It’s generally clean for a thrift store that is really packed these days. The prices seem to have gone up again and women’s tops are $8.99, and a lot of items are specifically priced to be higher. I understand, but some seem priced very high. I have 2 issues recently, 1) employees seem to be evaluated on the round up and one cashier was openly talking about just rounding up for people because they had just received feedback on their low number of round ups. It’s just a penny but it’s disingenuous and questionable to evaluate employees on this. 2) I’m very confused by the new rewards system. It seems to be down at this location, or the employees haven’t been trained on this, even though there are many signs at the cash register for it. I’m able to give my phone number at other NYC locations but I was told this isn’t possible at the Livingston location? I would like my points, please!!!May 31, 2025 -
Most expensive goodwill/ thriftstore i've been to. used shein for like $9...
If you go down the street, old navy, h&m, primark, target, and burlington will sell you something new for cheaper or similar price
You might find something good but you realllllly have to dig
Not worth the trip imoApr 09, 2025 -
guard is screaming at everyone that the store is closed 25 minutes before the hour posted on the door. just say you close at 6:30, not spending $10 per item to get screamed at when on the line to pay.

The homewares section is tiny and regularly picked through. They'll bring out a new cart and people will swarm to get things off of the cart before they hit the shelves. If you want to see anything new, you must also swarm the cart. This is a good location for clothes mostly, and they have a lot of good sized fitting rooms. It's not the thrift experience I'm used to and if you're used to using student discount- this location only has student discount on Saturdays! They also often have nice things but you'll have to compete with resellers, like at any thrift store, and it's always the luck of the draw.

It is located in a Black neighborhood. I was surprised the first time I went there. Many local residents were shopping inside, and there were lots of nice clothes and plush toys available for purchase.

Been here a bunch of times! Definitely hit or miss depending on what people donate but alwayd a good time. Sometimes ill leave with nothing and other times ill leave with 3 pairs of shoes, dresses, jeans, and some shirts.
They have a fitting room, max 5 items, but i dont usually see a line so I go back in if i find more stuff later. Pricing is good and my strategy is to look for the color tag of the day for 50% off price. (Last time i went i got 2 pairs of shoes and pants, priced each at $9.99 but spent $15 in total because of the tag)
Only downside is some other customers may hide merchandise so they can come back and purchase for themselves later…..many cute boots and sneakers but only one foot was available lolAug 19, 2024 -
If you're donating -- be aware guys will swarm in as you unload with a sob story about needing stuff for family or whatever. Caught off guard I gave guy one box, and held another to donate. The guys take the box across the street to unpack and sell at a sidewalk sale and pocket the $. DON'T BE TAKEN IN! Store is fine, big, easy to navigate. A lot of clothes both men and women's. Checkout line can be very long.

Love going to that place <3
Anytime I am in downtown Brooklyn I am stopping by because maybe I will find something cheap and cool. It's like gambling or opening a magic treasure chest for a small price and the outcome can be amazing. I found the whole series of Lord of the Rings CDs original wrapped (not opened yet) for only 5$Mar 21, 2024 -
I visited the Livingston store last week and I love this location. Clean, neat, great merchandise and selection, and the most helpful employees. As I was checking out, I was called to register with two employees. I was greeted, asked if I found everything okay, and was engaged in polite conversation during the check out process.
I came to learn one employee was new and undergoing training, while the other was the stores general manager, Colin. He was wonderful. Not only was he assisting/training a new employee through the check out process, but more importantly leading by example in how providing customer service should be. Attentive to the customer, checking on the customers experience, and ensuring the customer was happy.
This was such a wonderful experience, not only from a customer standpoint, but to also know the emphasis Colin places on making sure the store’s employees understand the importance of the customer experience.
After reading past reviews from up to a year ago, this store has really turned around for the better. I can’t wait to make my next visit and see the new merchandise and how my new friend is doing at their job.Feb 22, 2024 -
Off the bat this goodwill has a lot of really nice clothes and brands that you wouldn’t normally see. Traveling from a different state in comparison to clothes and prices. I will say the price was a little high for a second hand store, most pieces starting at 7.99 being the lowest price I saw out of the store. I would say for overall experience very clean organized well lit has very active security and customer service was really welcoming.

Found some gems here! Designer trousers for $7 and really good framed artwork for the same price. I left super happy. Like another reviewer said, the “female” selection is definitely better and bigger. Thanks for the deals!

Big goodwill, seems better options for females than males. Lots of jeans. Jeans heaven (if you like denim). Warm in winter. There was nothing I needed but everything I wanted. They play music (radio goodwill) as far as I’m aware you can only listen to Radio Goodwill in the store so worth a trip just for that. There are also seats where you can sit. No sleeping though. Plenty of handbags if that’s your thing. On Tuesday you can get more savings. If you plan on purchasing a lot I recommend getting a trolley.

I was in the area for an appointment and to my surprise I found this Goodwill. I made a mental note to pop in once I was free. The outside can be kind of deceiving because it looked to be very large. But when you step inside its content isn’t as full. Meaning they layout is spacious, but they really don’t have a lot of items. I’ve been to other thrifts stores throughout NYC and most times they have more then this location. Everything was neat and organized just not much inventory. I enjoyed the wall art section; they had some interesting pieces. The shoe section was bare as well as the accessories area. I did find a Max Studio pleated skirt with the original tags still on it. It was $7.99 and was retailed at $98. So that was a score. They offer try on rooms as well which is great being that they have a all sales are final policy. I walked the whole place in 30 minutes made my purchase and was out. Funny thing I observed was a guy just outside the front door selling his items (laid out on the ground) I wondered to myself “did he come shopping at the Goodwill and find some good items and is now trying to flip them right in front of the very store he purchased them from LOL?

Large, well organized, and well lit, this thrift staple seems well worth the visit. Why is it then that it's not even in my top ten thrifts to visit in nyc? For one :despite a dozen employees milling about, only one math-challenged cashier is working the till. I've seen customers wait 20 minutes and up in line. I also don't find the the greatest items here. Nonetheless, highlights include men's tees and women's bags. Prices are ok. Nothing amazing.

Great selection everything is well organized. Store feels like its dying tho might just be the lighting. Very dimmed down. Staff is okay could be better. Everyone seemed depressed, could just be the crappy pay and the lights lol
