What clients say about Route 46 East Automall in Totowa (NJ)

I asked them for the color of a car posted online 2 weeks ago and they have not stopped emailing me, calling me, texting me, leaving me voicemails. Even on Christmas! I asked them to stop so many times and it keeps happening. I wouldn’t trust anything in these people’s hands with the disrespect I’ve seen for what it’s worth.

I purchased a vehicle from AutoMall 46 Inc also known as Route46 Nissan in Totowa, NJ on October 17, 2024. The vehicle was listed on CARFAX for approx. $23K pre certified and was financed to me for a total of $31k. My compliant is for fraud due to deception in sale price and undisclosed additonal fee for a “pre certified vehicle”. I later learned from Nissan consumer affairs that the 23K listed CARFAX price already included a pre certified warranty at no additional cost. Yet I was charged an additional $3-4K for this warranty increasing the total vehicle sale price to $27K (minus taxes/registration fees… etc.) totaling a $31K sales price. The so called pre certification warranty charge (as told to me by the sales representative) included full engine repairs needed up until 100K miles for up to 7 years (or which ever came first). Just to clarify this is not an extended warranty. This verbiage and warranty already exists with the vehicle purchase priced at $23k advertised. Yet, I was deceived into purchasing the vehicle at $27K for this additional warranty (referring to repairs up to 100k miles for 7 years). I cannot stress this fact enough because it is mind blowing they are so deceptive with claiming this an additional cost to the vehicle sale price. Buyers beware!!!! Another clarification, an extended warranty would have cost additional not a pre certified vehicle warranty as per Nissan consumer affairs. Later (meaning recently) I found out this pre certified warranty could not be cancelled like most extended warranties because it’s not an extended warranty but rather comes with the purchase vehicle price. I visited the dealership today (2/18/2025) to discuss my concerns and was offered no reasonable explanation aside from them claiming this information was told to me at contract signing. I emphasized this information was not disclosed and had I known the pre certification of this vehicle was included in the advertised priced of $23K I would had declined to pay the additional cost for a warranty already provided with a pre certified vehicle. I am now perusing legal actions to resolve this matter. In addition to sharing my story with fellow buyer to warn others of this dealership tactics. I was deceived by a sales representative named Ramon Davis and a finance manager named Skyler (in additonal to another finance rep I do not remember) at the time of negotiations. I feel gullible to admit I was taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge on pre certified vehicles and what constitutes an extended warranty. Therefore I am filing an FTC complaint for the undisclosed amount due to laws that protects consumers against fraud. Please purchase wisely at your next dealership visit.

If I can give 0, i would. Spoke to some manager named Ken or whatever his name was. I made an appointment with sales to come and purchase a specific vehicle, only for them to call me and tell me another manager has possession of the vehicle and won't be able to do a sale today, come another day. I took off of work to get this transaction done, called my insurance, and then have the manager scream at me over the phone that it's not his problem, it's mine. Disgusting person. Don't do business here. They don't value your time.

I went to Route 46 to purchase a used vehicle I saw online. I drove about 90 minutes as it seemed like a good deal. When I got there, there was quite a bit of markup on it and I wasn’t happy. The sales people worked with me and gave me a great deal. I left with the vehicle. The next part I wasn’t so happy with. I don’t know much about cars so didn’t know how to check it well. I took it back home to PA and failed inspection. I called probably 8-10 times and emailed another 3. No one was helping or responding. At this point I figured I was going to have to eat the $1100 necessary fixes. While waiting at the garage while getting it necessary items, I was irate and called the dealership again. This time I told them I just need to talk to the highest up person possible - I again was sent to a voicemail of “Jamie”. I figured like all the other calls, it would go unreturned. Jamie called me back within 5 minutes from her cell phone. I explained the situation and she was very understanding. She asked me to send her the emails I had sent as well as a copy of the garage bill. She said they guarantee their vehicles to pass inspection. After it was finished, she mailed me a check for the full amount of the bill, including the inspection fees, more than I was even expecting. You can go here and deal with confidence knowing their upper management has your back (even if the direct employees are unreachable after sale). If you have any issues at any of their brands, call and ask for Jamie - she will make it right and in an expedited manner. Every dealership should have a “Jamie” that cares about the customers and gets things done swiftly! The car is now fantastic and I couldn’t be happier.

Excellent Experience with nick! Yesterday myself and my father purchased a car from nick and had a great experience. He was patient, answered all my questions, and made the entire process smooth. Highly recommend!

I had a good experience working with Nick G. He walked me through the whole leasing process to get me the amount I was willing to put up and money down. It was fast and easy. He has a good personality to you feel like you’re going to get what you want for your lease. Bernard was great to work with too

I went into this dealership on today for a vehicle. Under the impression that the vehicle was going to be what was displayed on the internet. Once I got there and went through a bunch of there negotiation tactics the price of the car was almost $8,000 more than the original price. This is terrible business and unacceptable. I understand dmv fees , registration and doc fees etc but when you start trying to push a Certification for used cars that cost almost $4,000 that is terrible. Bad company. Don’t shop here.

I came in on Saturday 10/8 just to discuss my options. Mark Hickman was super helpful and informative. After working with him I left the dealership with the car of my dreams along with payments that I am able to handle. Thank you Mark!!!

Updated review 1/4/22 - it has been 3 months and we still do not have the licence plate from the dealer. The car they sold us does not have a free and clear title. I am beyond upset and no one ever and I mean ever calls us unless we call them. At this point we are thinking of legal action. Avoid this place at all cost. Full disclosure we bought the car but it was not a great experience. First, no one and I mean no one was wearing a mask. We had to ask the dealer to please wear a mask once we made it to the very tiny finance office. Second, the process takes entirely too long. In the age of digitization, why am I filling out paperwork. Finally, the dealer asked us to go half on having an extra set of keys made. Seriously???

This place has cozy and wonderful waiting area, when you service your car you can read get your coffee or do your computer works. The service managers are polite and informative and real kind. They show you many options and let you decide. Thank you trustable and fine service and dealership. 2nd Review after 3 years; Interestingly longer service hours, I had to bring my 2021 Nissan Rogue two times for the engine light check (it is right Rogue 2021!!! Turned out another failure of Nissan) and once for the recall in 3 months. It took so long to wait than they told me every single time. I am not sure what was those extra hours for.

Rented a huge van, the Nissan NV3500, for two weeks to take to Florida. The dealership rents some of their fleet through Turo. Vehicle came super clean with a full tank and the service rep Jeremy was very helpful in answering all my questions. The van has been awesome, no issues but I wouldn't expect any since it is a 2020 vehicle. This was my first experience with Turo and this dealership and I would recommend it! The van though takes some getting used to. It has a bit wider turning radius and is just generally large, but the rear video monitor when reversing helps a ton.

This is my third xar with Route 46 Nissan, and I plan to stay with them a long time. Every time my car is due for service, I am able to make an appointment that fits my needs, and I have never had an issue. Every member of the service team is wonderful, and I have met the majority! This last time, Luigi was assisting me, and he made sure all my questions were answered, and I left happy and confident in the services performed. Despite a busy day, my wait time was less than expected and I was pleasantly surprised. My lease is coming to an end, so I will be back soon for another deal with Route 46 Nissan!

This dealership was recommended to me by a family friend. This was my first time leasing a vehicle. I worked with Eddie Moran and he did an exceptional job getting what my wife and I were looking to lease. I highly recommend this dealership to any first time buyers/leasee. Staff is courteous and will work to accommodate your budget and needs.

I bought my car here, and also I come here for service. I like how they have the coffee while you're waiting and also a bagel and stuff, also nice and clean. the sales are doing their job, but I was told that I can have free life oil change. So I'm going there this year again and at the service says that I can do only twice a year. But Luigi was nice and very friendly, he did help me and talked to supervisor or so, so they did not charge and also I got free car wash. Thank you Luigi at the service desk.

I purchased TWO new vehicles- a Rogue and a Pathfinder- at Route 46 Nissan this past weekend. Sean Sheridan was absolutely awesome. It was the best experience that I've had in a car dealership to date. He explained everything thoroughly, was extremely patient (and I had lots of questions!), and ultimately I felt like he was my advocate in getting the deal that I needed to drive away with both new cars. Thank you again Sean, Finance Manager Valerio, and Sales Manager Schuyler.

I didn't end up buying a car (They didn't have the one my boyfriend wanted) but I loved the customer service!!! Excellent dealers - knowledgeable, don't try to rip you off on price (from what I was shown), and great personalities! Derek was the dealer that showed me around.

Beware of this dealership. We purchased a used vehicle from them and had it inspected and found multiple SAFETY concerns. Upon trying to contact the dealership, I was transferred from several manager's voice mails, to being hung up on for roughly 2 hours. My name was taken down and the "manager" was supposed to call me back that evening. The next day, I reached out the the dealership once again, only to be transferred to, you guessed it voicemails. After finally having our sales guy have his manager contact me, we were passed off to their affiliated dealership for the brand of the car for repairs. By the way - we live a little over an hour away. We bring the car back to Nissan, which we are told to go to the dealership beside them for the car to be repaired. "They are expecting you." We go to the dealership, give the service manager Mitch, the estimate from the mechanic shop. Mitch, by the way - has been the single and only professional I have yet to deal with during this whole ordeal - that guy needs a raise. I was told the vehicle was NEVER inspected, and they need to investigate how it got to a selling point without someone so much as glancing at their tires ready to blow out. Finding upper management to speak to about this is like finding a unicorn. I am a week in with a rental vehicle which is sucking up gas, and their management still can not even OK the cost to repair the damn car that never should have been sold like this to begin with. So instead of doing what is right, repair the car and give it back to us, than worry about who will pay for what on their end, we are stuck in a vehicle that isn't even ours. Their customer service manager calls me to ask me how my "new car" is, you can imagine how baffled I am that customer service isn't aware that they gave a new customer a DIRTY - not even an attempt to clean the interior of the vehicle - no "100 point safety inspection" ever done - vehicle, let alone how upset their customer even is. My buying experience? A nightmare. I thought they were attempting to fix what is right with a customer, but a week to even get the repairs approved BEFORE they even order the parts and work on it? This is an absolute nightmare.

My wife had her heart set on a 2013 Chevy Malibu, and we had a very bad experience at Hudson Hyundai. We came to Route 46 Nissan to see a Chevy they had available and we were immediately greeted by Nick. I sell cars myself, and I would send any salesperson to Nick to see what a professional is supposed to act like. He was friendly, personable, informative and attentive to our needs without being too pushy or desperate. Nick was smooth. The treatment we received was excellent, and thanks to Nick we got a fantastic deal on the Malibu that my wife loves. Nick was fantastic, and I would send any business his way.

I have used this dealership twice and it is my own fault for going back. The location is extremely close to my house, so my laziness got in the way of my intelligence. They are the typical "high-pressure" dealership. Constant haggling and always trying to sell you something you aren't asking for. It does not matter what you say you want to pay, they will keep hitting you with higher numbers. They'll hold your keys so you can't leave even if you want to. In the end, I got what I felt was a decent deal, but it's not worth the hassle to get there. Then, once you buy a car you will be constantly bombarded with phone calls trying to sell you services. Worst of all, it is now 3 months later and they still have not turned in the lease that I traded in to get my new car. Obviously, this is completely unacceptable. After speaking with the sales manager they have told me they were under the impression that I wasn't turning in the vehicle and was keeping it. Meanwhile, I have paperwork saying that they were taking the vehicle, making the payments, and turning it in. Obviously, complete BS on their part, and this is what you will always encounter at Route 46 Nissan. My advice, do yourself a favor and stay away from Route 46. Typical "sleazy" car dealer.

i went to numerous other dealers before coming to route46 Nissan. I am happy that i made the decision because i found George Mack there. He was a kind of salesperson who understands that a deals sealed when both parties profit. he understood what my requirement was, how much i can afford and based on those he arrived at a number that was pretty close to what i had in mind. So it took only 45 minutes to seal the deal. Now i am a happy driver in my Nissan Rogue. Thanks George Mack and Rt46 Nissan.

Anyone in there will take care of you and its a great environment to be in. The place is well taken care of and the employees will do anything in their power to help you out and get the best possible deal. Tony R. is an outspoken salesman, would definitely go back there for my next car from him. He took his time to take us through and explain each step of the way to getting into our next car and made sure we were comfortable before making the purchase

I have been leasing from Rt. 46 Nissan for years. The reason I continue to come back is because of one of their Sales Managers, Richie Catalano. Richie is a stand up guy who always gets you in a vehicle for a reasonable price. I've tried other dealerships in the past and it's the same nonsense. Thousands of dollars down for an extremely high monthly payment. This doesn't happen with Richie. Richie gives you fair prices right from the get go and is very personable, which makes the usual painful process of buying a car, not painful at all. Whatever salesman/woman Richie recommends, I am always pleased with their service. On this occasion, I dealt with Bret Schelhammer. Bret was honest, genuine, and worked hand in hand with Richie to get me in the vehicle I wanted for the price I wanted. Over the years I have sent family, friends, and co-workers to see Richie and they have all left with the same result -- In a brand new vehicle for a price they were happy with. Once again, I cannot recommend enough heading down to Rt. 46 Nissan and asking for Richie. As long as he is selling cars, I will never go to another dealership.

My overall experience at the dealership was great! All the sales representatives were respectful and willing to work with me and my current budget. Their goal was to satisfy my wish of getting a new car and getting out of my lease early. The dealership did exactly that! They worked with me back and forth until I was satisfied as a customer with the car of my wishes and the overall price, both down payment and monthly payments. I would highly recommend this dealership! They have patience and are willing to work with their customers! Nancy was also an awesome salesperson!

I purchased a Nissan 2014 Frontier from your dealership at the end of December 2013. I just want you to know how pleased we were with the shopping experience and purchase of the truck. Our salesperson, DJ LaSaracina, was an extremely personable and professional individual. He greeted us at the door and we worked with him. He was quite knowledgeable with the details of the truck. We were very comfortable working with him and the negotiations went smoothly. He went out of his way to locate the vehicle that we were looking for and found it at another dealership. He guided us through the finance process to get the truck loan. DJ communicated with us each day to keep us informed of the progress. When the day of the delivery arrived, he assisted us with a careful review of the vehicle and answered all of our questions. He is a wonderful person and an important asset to your sales staff. We have recommended Route 46 Nissan to our friends and will continue to do so. Ralph DeChiaro

Great buying experience – I have had a wonderful experience at Route 46 Nissan. I was treated fairly. The whole staff, from sales to finance was exceptional! All my questions and concerns were answered fully and clearly and I have no doubt in my mind that my decision to purchase a vehicle from this dealership was the right one. My sales person Kalvin was exceptionally, knowledgeable and made my car buying experience a VERY ENJOYABLE ONE.

Adrian is not a run-of-the-mill car salesman, and i needed someone like him to help me since I was buying a Leaf, which is not a run-of-the-mill car. Everything from the test ride to the final delivery was great! The dealership had some trouble locating a Leaf that I wanted, but Mike, the general sales manager, more than made up for it by throwing in some nice perks like the quick (6.6 KW) charger and a backup camera for no additional charge. I wouldn't hesitate in buying a car from these folks - great price and great customer service.

This place is false advertising to the tee! This goon comes on TV using the slogan, "we make buying fun and easy"...what a load of crap! Most miserable car negotiating experience of my life. How bout using those TV ad dollars and spend it on modern sales training instead of this 1990s high pressure, time constraint crap that comes out of your salesman's mouth? The salesman I dealt was rude, unprofessional, and condescending. They epitomize everything negative you think about car salesman and the car buying process. The salesman told me one price to hook me, then changed his tune. Then he tries to fill out a credit app without my consent. It's all about them, never once did he listen to my concerns and needs, and even got mad because I didn't think it was a world class deal like he did. He then tells me 95% of ppl that walk out their doors, don't come back--- and that's because 95% of people are smart enough to run away from such a time wasting, dishonest place! He didn't even have the courtesy to shake my hand when I left because he lost the deal, what a sore loser to lose his composure that way. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these crooks. Find a dealership that hires professionals because I certainly did.

Great Dealership! Bought my SUV there yesterday & the salesmen Nick was very nice... This is our 2nd car bought there; regardless of some bad reviews here; always go beyond and go check it out yourself... See Nick (salesmen) He's great and works with you. Very understanding and friendly

It's almost comical how rude the salespeople are at this place. We drove over an hour to look at a car. The sticker price turned out to be $5000 more than the price listed in the advertisement. When we asked about the discrepancy, the response was, "Well, would you have come down if that were the price?" That was the NICEST thing that was said to us during our experience. The rude comments only got worse from there. When we had had enough, and headed out to go look at other cars, the salesperson (Sebastian) said, "Thanks for wasting my time. Jesus." We hadn't even said we don't want the car, we simply had other appointments to see that day. Needless to say, that made our decision easy. I wouldn't give one cent of my money to this place regardless of how good I think the deal is. There are too many other decent places out there to warrant shopping at this one. Save yourself time, money and aggravation and patronize someplace else.
