Look I'm not one to leave shitty reviews and maybe I got the bad apple but still. I was looking for a 5VZ when I stumbled upon one on a website that showed where they were with what mileage and what it was out of. The one that I found that they claimed was here which is two hours away from me was out of 1998 Toyota T100 with 120k miles I called and although they were snarky they verified that it was accurate, that they had it, and only said that they had a warranty but nothing about said warranty and so trying to get my daily back on the road I said this is a good deal and went to go and get it. What they didn't tell me until after I bought it and had the receipt in my hand was that the warranty wasn't effective unless you brought back the core which is understandable if they actually told me before that.. the next thing they didn't tell me was that the engine was NOT out of a T100 but a 4Runner and actually had 300k miles verified by the vin. By time I got the engine back home I still hadn't pulled the other engine and being busy and all I wasn't able to pull it in their 10 day period to keep the warranty nor did I really want to drive all that way for something they could have been kind enough to tell me before I bought it because I'm stubborn. Anyway I decided to throw it in with a new timing belt, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets and spark plugs and boom it ran.. for two months.. until it started misfiring and blowing white smoke although not overheating. So I decided to pull the engine again, pull the heads and get them resurfaced and re do the head gaskets. After picking up the heads from the machine shop they told me they shaved it by 8 thousandths and that heads were 100% warped before. Keep in mind it never once overheated on me nor mixed the coolant and oil. The even better part? I decided to pull the oil pan because it was leaking and heard some lovely metal noise falling and saw thrust bearing pieces all in the pan so now it's time for a full rebuild :) It's more just annoying have to rebuild a 300k pos engine while being lied to when I could have just rebuilt mine but whatever it is what it is. Again it's my word against theirs so it doesn't even matter. Like I said maybe I got the bad apple but still. Anyway if you read all of the way down to here take care!
