What clients say about Apex Towing in Starkville (MS)

Towed my car even though I had a valid temporary parking pass for a rental car at my apartment complex. They did not bring the car back to the apartment and instead made me somehow find a way to the towing company's lot without a car since they towed mine. When I finally found a ride there they took their sweet time making me sign release papers and also I had to back the car out of a super tiny space because they blocked it in around other cars and would not retrieve it for me. I ended up missing two super important classes that day all because they failed to pay attention.

The guy was a jerk thought we were being arrested. No visible signs of where they were towing. It was an absolute joke. Starkville do better. The lady on the phone “ Christy “. was not willing to do anything for us. From out of town with no clue. The security guy asked us if we were color blind. He was a real piece of work. You and your little car that blocks the towing yard.

If I could give zero stars I would. Towed my college students car, on a Friday night. She went to get it Saturday but they are closed- only open 3-5! But online said closed Saturday and Sunday. She picked it up Monday, only to be charged almost $500!! $300 towing, over $150 in “storage fee” for the 2 days she didn’t pick it up, service charge and credit card fee. What a racket. They told my student they called her and left a message, which they did not, and would not give my husband the name of the owner. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Stopped in town to break up my 8-hour road trip and parked where I thought was guest parking. There were no visible signs or lights anywhere!! Making it impossible to tell otherwise, especially being from out of town and unfamiliar with the property’s rules. I woke up refreshed and ready to finish my drive north… only to find my car was GONE. Thankfully someone nearby knew which towing company to call—but OF COURSE, they’re only open from 3–5 PM on Saturdays. BRILLIANT!!! Luckily, I found a 24/7 number (mind you it was 10am saturday), and while the person who answered was polite, I was told I’d have to pay double to get my car outside those two magical hours... $416 because it was an inconvenience for them! Sorry about that yall! (there was no game in town so the parking lot was basically empty...my car was casuing no issues or problems) Between the lack of signage, poor lighting, limited hours, and outrageous fees, this feels like a setup to take advantage of visitors..especially people unfamiliar with the area and POOR college students. The apartment complex and towing company both need to DO BETTER. I'm giving 2 stars because the 24/7 service man was nice and atleast I was able to get my car outside of the TWO HOURS they are open.

If i could give them 0 dollars I would. They unlawfully take your car from WHEREVER and then make you pay whatever fee pop into the head. They have terrible attitudes and are very unprofessional. They will take your car even if you’re parked legally. THEY TOOK MY CAR 4 times and i paid a different fee every time. A “week day fee” “week end fee” “holiday fee” it’s not up to me to feed yall kids.

They tried to tow me out of an apartment complex for parking on the line of the guest space, at 3 am. I caught the guy in action and said I would move and he refused and said I need to pay $300 even though he hadn't towed me anywhere. Then proceeded to try and fight me when I drove away. APEX towing should be investigated by the city of Starkville.

Towed my car from my parking spoilt at my apartment complex. They never touched my car any other time. All because the apartment complex change the parking permits in the cars. But I had been had the old one. I just came back in town late that night from training. They towed my car and told me it’s at their lot and I’d have to pay $300 to get my car back.

Nothing like getting a call from your daughter, who just moved to town 3 1/2 hours away to go to school , crying hysterically that her car was being towed and the tow truck driver was a total jerk. The driver demanded $200 to take her car off of the truck. She had stopped to pick up a friend, parked for less than 10 minutes. It is a shame that a company preys on college kids in Starkville to make a living.

I’m a parent that was helping my child move from a Starkville location residence. We had a sign in the window saying moving. Boxes were in the vehicle and the wrecker still attempted to pull the car. It was plenty of empty parking spaces that were available. We weren’t interfering with no other person parking. Because the car was straddling a line that wasn’t being occupied. he tried to take my car, this is ridiculous. I understand that you were trying to make your money, but picking at people in the middle of them trying to help someone is outrageous. I’ve parked in that area before and never been harassed about parking. Ask questions before you start picking at people. Meaness can cause Karma.

Apartment complexes and towing companies in college towns prey on college kids. Towed from guest parking in apartment complex that we pay rent. The only reason that we parked in guest parking is because gate was not opening. Plenty of open spots in guest parking and parking was not an issue for anyone.

Terrible towing company. Will tow your car in Starkville if you’re parked anywhere in Starkville. They need money it’s so sad. Get a better junkyard it looks like it’s abandoned! And the lady that works has the most snotty attitude even if you’re respectful. You chose this profession not me. Get a life!! Hide your car if visiting Starkville cause apex gonna get it!

The man that tried to tow my friend’s car was very rude so we went to Apex to complain and the manager told us that he got fired. With that being said, my friend asked for at least half the money back and they refused, knowing that they just fired him for some other inappropriate actions. FYI, she was standing right by her car when they tried to tow it. WORST towing company in Starkville!

Apex unlawfully towed our daughters car right after midnight from her apartment, stating she was parked over the line. The picture reviled she was parked on the line. They then proceeded to try to get us to pay $400 and they would return the car during the night. This is stealing d extortion of money! I would give them a 0 if I could. This business prays on and takes advantage of people.

The most unreasonable towing company in this area. My daughter had parked her car in the Hangout and while she went to change her spot the towing company made her pay 200$ even though her car was only on the latch. They said they would not remove the latch from her car unless she paid 200$. This towing company feeds off of college students pockets. I’m shocked they don’t have a lawsuit against them. That 200$ was her monthly meal money. I also will inform Better Business Bureau about this incident.

Towed my mother’s car for barely being on the line when several other cars were way worse. Lady at the front desk even admitted they just go around randomly looking for people to tow. Said nobody could park there when they easily could and there was several free spaces around her car to park.

Apex = Predatory. Charges $300 upfront. They were in the office before opening at 10:00 a.m., but would not allow vehicle acquisition before 10:00 a.m. (even though they were inside). If wanting access before 10:00 a.m., they will charge $400. Probably need to start putting up signs/warnings/fees for designated towing spots in Starkville. Would not recommend this "C star" unaccredited BBB (Better Business Bureau) rated, Lizard Lick Towing rip-off tow company. Others are much better!

The place is definitely a scam organization. Had to drive my buddy there after he dropped something off and car was towed within 15 minutes. Then once we got there they wouldn’t let us in and made us wait 20 minutes before he got charged $300.

On April 6th, 2025, I had my friend park next to my truck at Social Block because there was no visitor parking nearby, and severe weather—including storms and tornado warnings—made it unsafe to drive. She parked in a residential spot where I’ve seen other cars without stickers stay for days without being towed. Unfortunately, her car was towed in less than 24 hours. I spoke with the tow truck driver who had just taken the car—he was kind and even offered me a ride to the lot, but said he couldn’t reverse the tow once it was booked. We still had to pay $300 to get the car back. I also called the office to explain the situation. The lady I spoke to was polite but said nothing could be done. Given the weather conditions and inconsistent towing enforcement, I’m just asking if it’s possible to get a partial refund or at least $100 off the fee.

Exploitative and Rude – Stay Away! I had a terrible experience with this towing company at The Yugo Starkville Campus Common (formerly 21 Apartments). I parked in a regular spot while visiting a friend—somewhere I have parked for over a year with no issues—and my car was towed without warning. They charged $300 to tow it just 2 miles, plus asked for another $100 if I want same-day pickup. There were no clear signs near the office or instructions for people visiting, yet they claimed only residents could park there. The manager was incredibly rude and dismissive. This company works with local apartments, such as Yugo/ 21 apartments, and targets college students to tow vehicles within moments of parking. It's a predatory operation with no regard for fairness or transparency. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Avoid at all costs.

Parked slightly over the line to allow space for neighboring vehicles to open their doors safely at my apartment complex. Despite doing so for two years, my truck was unexpectedly towed last night. According to Mississippi law, proper signage should have been in place, which was not the case. Retrieving my vehicle cost me $307. After reading similar reviews, I am considering pursuing a civil case. The actions of this company are unacceptable, and their practices need to be reevaluated. Their facility appears substandard, resembling a trailer park office. It is evident that they are lacking in funds and resort to such measures to generate income.

Their poor BBB rating is well deserved. I reported this highly unethical company as well and encourage everyone to take a few minutes to do the same. Many reviewers have been harassed/pressured into changing their reviews. I will not be intimidated!!! Amazingly unprofessional. They'll move/manipulate your car before taking photos to make it appear you incorrectly parked. Seriously, I saw around 30 images and it was obvious with the tow truck at 45° moving my (clearly permitted) vehicle across the parking space line. Their drivers are so desperate to get their $10 dollars per tow. 2 former Apex drivers said they have quotas of at least 20 vehicles during a shift and Apex is extremely unethical.

Not a real towing company stealing college students vehicles then charging $300. Don’t even give warning will take your vehicle soon as you get out. Also, charge $50 for everyday your car sit in there pound. Not professional not a legitimate company. Need to be investigated!!!

Gave one star because that’s the only way I could do a review. Shouldn’t be any stars! This place is terrible, and they take advantage of college students. Charged me daughter $300 and they only had it half a day!! Told us if we didn’t like the amount and didn’t pick it up today then we couldn’t get it til Sunday and pay $200 more! I’ve had my own vehicle towed before when it’s broken down and another when I blew a tire and it’s never been over $120! I told them this and they replied “ well we don’t have to give you a discount and you can just wait two days and come back and pay a higher rate if that’s what you want”! We were there 10 minutes and saw 5 college students come in to get their cars.

My son was not even parked over the line in front of his own apartment and they towed his car at midnight, saying he was taking up two parking spaces in front of his own (overpriced) apartment. I'm sure they were hoping he wouldn't notice until the morning so they could charge an extra $100. Predatory towards college students! One star is too good of a rating for them.

They lied about not being able to see the parking sticker just so they could get more money in their scummy little pockets. It was clearly visible on the window during the day, but they decided to check and tow it at night. The reason being they couldn't visibly see it. Obviously not if it's at night. I don't know, maybe use a flashlight for once? I'm sure these guys can afford one with how often they prey on broke college students. Maybe the act on pressing a button is too much work for them. All they care about is money, and they bypass anything illegal by just barely getting around with loopholes. Common sense and basic human decency have clearly left them if this is what they've resorted to. I hope karma comes back to them one hundred fold because ten is never going to be enough.

HORRIBLE PEOPLE! Me and my friends live near in the district area, and the apartment complex my friend stays at (Vista) has two parking tags, one in the front and one in the back. My friends back parking tag would not scan so she went to inform the office (meanwhile the front of her car still had the Vista 2024-2025 car tag clearly showing she was a resident) and they towed her. When she went and told them what happened they still made her pay regardless. If she didn't have the front car tag I would have understood, but it was ridiculous. What was the point of her having to pay 200$ and us missing class to get her car when this towing company clearly knew she was a resident.

These people make a lot of money by stealing cars of innocent people. I didn't say anything to my car thief, so he was polite to me. But I did say a few secret prayers for him and his colleagues, in the hope that they will eventually find some honest work. Please also see my review of the Grand at Starkville.

Ridiculous!!!! I parked 9 inches over the line at an apartment complex I have a parking pass for. No sympathy when I arrived to there “hole in the wall” location. I asked for a few bucks off considering 3/4 of my tire was just over a line at a place I’m legally allowed to park at and got the typical “I don’t have the authority to knock the price down” response. I don’t understand how someone can find happiness in running a business like this. These people should be shut down.

I wish Google would let me leave a 0 star review. This tow company monopolizes on local businesses, apartments, and organizations to prey upon broke college kids. They lurk in the shadows waiting for a driver to park. Within a matter of seconds, they appear at the rear of your vehicle, hook it up, and flee the scene. They charge inconceivable prices for their malicious actions and refuse to cooperate with victims of their crimes. As a college student who was wrongfully towed, they refused to help me and properly have footage reviewed by a third party. I find it shocking they consider their company to be legal. The manager, Stephanie, is the rudest employee I have ever come in contact with. She is negligent, hostile, and belittles every single customer that walks in the front doors. She lied and claimed that my car was on-site, when it in fact was being held at a sketchy location across town. The security at this location consisted of a beaten up car used as a "gate" and a plastic table set up like a lemonade stand in a gravel pit. The lot is unnamed and is very hard to spot. Apex is by far the WORST company I have ever had to cooperate with. Feel free to call their number at any time to pester their line before they wrongfully tow your vehicle next. Apex you better count your days.

This morning I was unaware that I was towed on false pretense. I called the establishment and was told that I had “an expired parking decal” which is not the truth. So I spoke with the receptionist. She then begins to tell me that my car was towed because I had “no parking decal”. Then I was asked to sign documentation in order to retrieve my car. After this was stated, I refused to sign, due to the fact that I had not viewed my car yet, and that was a false statement …..as we approach the Car…. I showed her the up to date decal. And it was indeed up to date. As we returned to the building, she then states that your car was parked over the lines. Well that’s put in the paperwork. Well I was unaware that was the solid issue. Therefore I was misinformed and there has been much miscommunication within in this one visit ….May I speak with the manager. She then continues to try and convince me that nothing more can be done by showing me a “group chat text” which they exchange clarification amongst themselves and not the proper documentation and customer ….. When the manager comes out she states that I understand my team made a mistake and I can take $50 dollars off.. I asked can more be taken off due to the fact that documentation was improper and I was misinformed and the team handled protocol improperly. She begins to be condescending. She then stated , “ I don’t have to give you anything off …. I can just talk to my team”. As a tax paying citizen who showed much respect , grace and understanding… this was ill mannered and rude. For all the miscommunication and misconduct that I received on today , I pray that people would show more grace and professionalism in higher positions because there is always someone above you! As a working professional, it is my hope that you do not choose to work with this company until they can learn how to file proper documentation, customer service development and general kindness to people. Best Regards, Ms. Butler
