Dropped car off on a Thursday for 1pm appt to change oil and all points inspection. Didn’t hear ANYTHING until noon Friday which let me know they found some things that were urgent. Ok, I agreed with the quote, told them to proceed and was told it could be done by EOD but probably Monday bc they were waiting on parts. Okaaaay. I had to call them on Monday at noon (after not hearing anything yet) to see when I could expect my car to be done. The parts had come in but they weren’t working on it yet. I was told possibly EOD it would be done. I showed up at 5:30 and they still had my car on the lift finishing up. Waited until 6 (closing time) to finally get out the door.
Slow service & poor communication. Would not recommend.
My experience with Seth is consistently positive. He is polite, professional, and always provides good customer service. He is also honest when dealing with customers.

Horrible experience. Took my car in for oil change and tires and they had my car for a month with no offer of alternative transportation. They did not do a full diagnosis and so every time they got a part they’d find another issue and then need to order more parts. If I had known they didn’t actually do a full diagnostics and this would take a month and $10,000, I would have just sold my car. They’re definitely scammy and money hungry. Would not recommend.
They were very, very honest and hoping they let me know what was going on, and when my car was ready, I love the kindness that they show their customers. I would definitely come back to them.
Had daughters car towed here because it wouldn’t start. Before even seeing the vehicle, they said they would charge for battery and then “whatever else needs to be done”. I commented how I didn’t understand why they are charging me for battery before even testing battery, trying to jump start, or running diagnostics
I told them to run the diagnostics and figure out what it was first. They called me back to mention that $3200 worth of repairs needed to be done, including a fuel sensor, brakes, and battery.
My daughter had just paid $1200 to the Lexus dealership for new front brakes 3 weeks ago. There was no additional recommendation for rear brakes. I was upset with all this confusing information and brought the car to Auto Collision Repair in SLP. Mike got the car towed start, told me it didn’t need brakes yet, and gave us a work around for the fuel sensor.
Cost me $265 for the battery instead of the $3200 TDK wanted to charge me. Said the brakes were fine and would gladly install for much less than TDk wanted.
TDK seems predatory. I would be wary of bringing my car here. They will charge you for everything they can, even when it’s not needed.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I had a brake issue and was able to get in for an inspection within thirty minutes of calling. Where most shops would take up to a week to complete the work I needed, TGK only took a day. Their report was perfectly transparent about what was essential and what was recommend and they never tried to oversell me on anything. As someone who just moved here and hasn’t yet established a “go-to” shop, I can confidently say that I will be going to TGK for everything from here on out!
My wife came into TGK to get her oil changed. The mechanic due today once over on the car. In the recommendations that he gave he put in red multiple things that needed to be done. The thing that I was most disappointed in was the fact that they said that the brakes needed to be done and the fluid needed to be replaced. I had done the brakes and fluid this last year. We are not going to be coming back to TGK
I’ve had great success bringing my truck here for regular maintenance. They are priced fairly, don’t push unnecessary services on you, yet keep you informed of what could and should be completed and when. Working with Seth is always a pleasant experience.
Seth and staff were very responsive and inspired confidence. They replaced 4 tires on my 2022 RAV 4, and aligned and balanced them. They kept in touch with me by phone throughout the process which took approximately 8 hrs, and markedly improved the ride of my car. I highly recommend them.
TGK is a trustworthy shop, they give reports with recommendations vs work that needs to be done. They tested my battery and honored my warranty, not lying about the cause of my car dying to make money. They work together with you to get the best price and plan possible. Tyler & Seth are very friendly, knowledgeable and patient.
If you need an oil change done in less than 24 hours, probably go somewhere else. Everyone is really nice but this location and the Maple Grove will take 24+ hours to change your oil.
Over a month of engine work and replacement only to have the shop total my car on the test drive. The complete lack of professionalism during the end of repair through the nightmare of having to deal with an insurance claim was the ultimate nail in the coffin. Over $13k in this vehicle alone shelled out and over a month of dealing with the shop. I brought four vehicles to this shop over the course of a couple years and was loyal and did everything they recommended. They dumped me faster than they took my $$ for the services I did over the years. The “regional manager “ had no desire to return calls or engage me in any way. Pawned me to the insurance guy who had to listen to me unload. I guess you could say I do not recommend TGK.
Explained issues with my car, walked me through options, they were not pushy with things, and fixed things in a timely manner! I would definitely recommend servicing your car here! Tyler is great
I dont doubt what they told what needed to be fixed on my car was accurate or how much the cost was. However, I have an extended warranty that they did the very minimum to try and help me get paid back for. They claimed the company would never cover it and said they wouldn't take the time to work with them to get it covered. Just felt very unhelpful and that they didn't care about helping their customer get their very expensive car expense covered. They also made it seem like it was an immediate fix that needed to happen or it could destroy my engine. Its sad when garages need to catastrophise problems with cars just to get the sale.
This is now my third or fourth visit to TGK, over the last two years. I have gotten all of my work done there on my 2017 RAM 1500. Every time I have gone, the service is the same, OUTSTANDING! They know what they’re doing, they shop around for the best prices on parts, their mechanics explain everything to me, and I am treated with such respect! They do what needs to be done, but don’t pressure you to do anything, but what is required. And consistently they are the lowest bid when I check any other places. In fact, I no longer check other places to compare pricing. I recommend them to everyone I talk to. Even their towing service is fabulous. You can trust these guys! I don't write many reviews, but I wanted to share my wonderful experience with this shop. I don't always trust mechanics and I research auto repair shops because I travel often and I need to feel like my truck is reliable and safe. These guys, Seth and Tyler, are AWESOME - they service your vehicle quickly and work hard to find the best prices and quality parts. Their mechanic was spot on with what I needed and Seth found the best prices compared to other shops (I checked). There is no pressure to buy additional services unless my vehicle will need something in the near future and it saves me money to take care of it - or I can wait. They are great about advising you on what you need or what you can wait on. I really appreciate that.

Waited all day to have a simple inspection done on a flat tire, I knew it couldn’t be repair since it happened on the highway and I drove as far as I could to get to a safer spot since my 5 year old was in the backseat... This store is not that busy due to all the construction happening on Minnetonka.
After inspection I was told all tires need to be replaced… (no way that’s true, just had 2 rear tires replaced within the past year). Then the SALESMAN quoted me over $1,000 for all 4.
That’s insane for the tires I had on the vehicle. Even after I expressed the need to just do what was urgent since I just got off of maternity leave and funds are tight, all he said was you can pay it off in 3 monthly installments. Sir, no, you’re not listening and clearly have never had to pay for childcare.
Seemed scammy and insincere. Not thinking about the customer and customer needs/concerns. Just thinking of your own bottom line.
May want to consider customer service training for employees in the future. When you have a costumer expressing financial concern, you address it with understanding and exhaust all options to make sure the needs of the customer are met or at least heard.

charging for inspection is a crock… I happily paid it to not have to speak to the salesman again. But even that turned into an ordeal…
The original link for payment was never sent to me. He called asking me to pay them, I told him I never received the link. He took the time to look it up while I’m at work waiting to read off the card info and my tow truck driver is waiting for my keys, just to say it was sent at whatever time we originally spoke… well doesn’t matter if I never got it, plus your wasting my time.
Finally when I received it, the link for payment didn’t work. Declining all of my different cards, even cards provided by different people to test, so it obviously was not a funding issue. I called in and paid and was relieved that I knew I would be listened to, cared for, and my car would be properly taken care of elsewhere.
TGK auto in ham lake was great! I came in for a quick oil change and they didn’t try to upsell me. They also answered my questions about other things with very honest answers. I also had my kids with me and they were able to play with the toys in the lobby. Win win for everyone!
Seth was very helpful. He explained everything in clear detail and I felt like he was very fair with me. Not only that, he’s a friendly guy and we have the same name!
I used to go to Valvoline for oil changes until friends finally convinced me to stop and go here instead - TGK found me a coupon and the price ended up being half as much. I had to bring my dog with me and our original plan was just to go for a walk while my oil was changed but it ended up raining - TGK kindly let us hang out in the lobby instead! I would definitely recommend going here!
My car was serviced as expected. Seth was so nice, honest and upfront. He found a coupon that saved me money which I really appreciated! I waited two hours but he explained why it took longer. They provided a digital service recap with photos about my vehicle which was very nice. Overall, it was a good experience and I will be back.
Took our newly purchased VW Tiguan to a shop for an oil leak and were quoted $3500 for replacing the cap after a 20 min inspection. Went to TGK for a second opinion and they spent 4 hours cleaning and inspecting only to find out it was a complexly different issue! They fixed the actual problem, did routine and prevention maintenance based on mileage and we still came in $900 under the other shop's estimate. We're a customer for life!
It’s always a pleasure doing business with TGK Seth and Tyler are great at what they. They take great care of you , explain what is being done and identify with photographs what may be needed to be fixed without pressure. I run a gardening and landscape business and my car is my work vehicle so it’s important that I get the work done in a timely fashion so I’m not without a vehicle for very long. I’m happy to have a reliable, trusted automotive repair shop in the neighborhood that I can count on! TM
I went here for the first time after reading all the positive reviews - those reviews did not lie. This place is amazing!!! Seth was communicative, friendly, honest, and efficient. Love TGK SLP; my go-to auto shop! I recently went in for an oil change and rattling noise under the hood of my ‘18 Nissan Rogue. While those issues were resolved, they also discovered a problem with my suspension, which they made me aware of right away. Making this my first experience leaving my car overnight for services. 😬 I appreciate TGK because they let you know what you need and when you need it, with pricing. They’ve never made me feel pressured to accept services I didn’t want. I’ve never felt taken advantage of because I’m a woman. Regardless, they are always forthcoming and efficient. Tyler and Seth always take good care of me. No complaints, highly recommend!
