I was trying to get rid of my car because I’d purchased a new to me car and I was hoping to get at least enough money to register my new car and switch the title, transfer the plate, etc. With some left over to help my Mom with a bill she had. The owner was at first buying my car for parts. I couldn’t find my Title so although I had had surgery a couple days before, he told me to go that day to Secretary of State, have it printed out there instead of having it sent and that HE would pay for it (25$). I had higher offers but the guy who came out convinced me that it would be easier to just let them take it off my hands. He had the tow truck with him and I was told I would get at least 5-6 hundred dollars. Someone who works for their company let me know that they had underpaid me by at least 100$. When he found out my car still ran no problem , his eyes lit up and he wanted it done and to take my car right there.They were bragging about how they had screwed me over. I wish I would’ve had my Moms friend with me who knows everything about cars, but he said he couldn’t wait for him to get there (even though they are open 24 hours a day and the owner said they could come anytime). Keep in mind that I was still on pain meds, a woman home alone by myself, weak from surgery with some random guy who seemed to be on the phone with the owner and would take the calls by his tow truck, way out of earshot. I felt pressured and so I accepted an offer of $450. I was told I would receive cash, but when the time came they wanted my Cash App handle. He had already been loading my car and I had given him the title. When the Cash App payment went through, it was only $400. I thought it was an honest mistake and called and texted them and even requested the money for the title from him, as well as the money I should have been paid, and inquired about the at least 100$ extra I should have received. We have pictures of under my car a few days prior and then when he looked under my car he claimed I was missing my catalytic converter or something that was in his opinion replaced by mufflers and was probably done at the mechanic place where I went to get some things fixed a couple times. They are a respected and well known shop and they are also successful owners of other businesses in the area. When I asked him about the “missing” parts, he guaranteed and also had pictures as well as video footage of them fixing my car and all others. I can let go the fact that they scammed me by at least 100 for the initial price, but what I can’t let go of is the fact that a “professional company” still owes me 75$. 50$ I wasn’t paid that was offered to me, and 25$ for my replacement Title that he said he would pay. It’s not so much to do with the money, (although I need the money badly) but more of the fact that they lied, did not send what I was owed, and was told several times to text a number to explain what money I was owed. I have requested the title money on his Cash App at least 4 times and it just expires. They just completely ignore me and I don’t have the money to take them to court. I just want my 75$ that I AM OWED. Has anyone had a similar or just plain bad experience with this company, the Tow Pros? Any advice on how to get my 75 dollars from them. I can’t keep leaving messages and texting without responses. Please pass this message on so people will know gwhat they are potentially dealing with.
