National average price for aluminum rims is over 70 cents a pound (iscrap app), Benton gave gave me 45 cents. I should have called around. People were nice, prices are taking advantage of already poor people. Check Padnos prices down the street before you go here.
I would like to say to all or any that have complaints on here , give the place another try , I recently started staying around these parts and have had several trips to this establishment, personally I’m new and I was treated fine and fair was very pleased with how fast I was taken care of and not that I liked the price I got for dirty brass , but was more than happy with all grades of copper and aluminum prices and loved how easy their kiosk machine was to work absolutely nothing but very good experience with BMR and as far as the staff goes I can’t say one way or the other because I’ve only ever dealt with two different people and they both ran the scale and I was in and out so fast that there wasn’t much time for talk !! So anyone who judges a business by a single trip or experience is as silly as someone who walks into a church to find out what they got wrong , just don’t make any sence ! So far so good ! Keep up the good work guys ! Very good location convenient since my first trips were all the way the other side of the harbor to Padnos let’s not forget that drive and the time wasted if ur coming from Stevensville way like myself anyways !!
The staff is fantastic I've never been to a better scrapyard They are informative of the prices And Jamie and Lexi are the best. And the operations around the yard are ran by A fellow named josh He's also fantastic
Either this is a sweatshop where the employee needed the last 15 mins of the day before close to get a break, or this employee just didn’t want to do his job. But, don’t show up at 3:45pm because he stated they were closed and he wasn’t going to work overtime, and even referenced competing scrap yards that I could go to instead. Need to change your sign reflecting that your operations close at 3:45 instead of 4:00pm at the Benton Harbor location.
This is one of my favorite places in Benton Harbor! I am able to buy things that people bring in and give them a new life! I'm working on some big snowblowers right now...
Unless you like nails in your tires and being cheated, Stay Away. Also, don't believe a word of their response to this feedback. I've never left negative feedback for any business, but BMR earned this one. I brought them 35 pounds of heavy gauge solid copper wire. They quickly removed the pile from the scale and dumped it, then only credited me for mixed-alloy stranded wire (worth 40% less). I'm an experienced recycler, so I wrote to ownership and gave them a chance to make it right. They did nothing. Any business that would rather cheat someone out of $25 instead of working to earn repeat customers is a business to avoid.
REPLY TO BMR: No return letter was ever received at either my physical address or email. My letter also contained my home phone number, which was never called. The wire I brought in was standard household copper wiring (romex and cloth covered), not "very heavily insulated" wire, and the nail in my tire occurred during a previous visit to your scrap yard area. As far as checking the payout slip, what good would it have done? The wire had already been comingled with other scrap. I wrote you a polite letter explaining what happened, then waited 2 weeks for a response before leaving this review.
Smooth fast service, guys are cool. And they finally fixed that horrible road by the scale. Still open with covid-19. No contact system in place. Very Happy!
A great place to me the owner real cool the employees great Dennis treat his employees like family and yet he still have to be a boss if you got a problem with this place you the problem
This place is a family owned business that appears to treat its employees and customers with the highest degree of respect. The owner often goes out of his way to help out customers and is heavily involved in giving back to the local community. I have watched numerous interactions that indicate this, one recently where I overheard him offering to help out an employee who was in tough situation. I didn't get the details, as I couldnt really hear too well and I didnt want it to seem like I was eavesdropping, but it seemed like this man genuinely cared about his employee's well being which was refreshing. Moreover, I can say i have been paid fairly every single time and every interaction i have had at the window has been pleasant. The lady who works that is always extremely nice to me and I look forward to my trips here as a result. I hope they stay in our area for many years as they are an asset to our community.
The window lady and the owner are not polite people...they are not concerned with customers the least bit. They will rip you off if your not on their tops. Beware if your trying to get paid correctly!!
