Made an appointment for a tire install days in advance. Got there on schedule to be told it would be up to an hour and a half to get a tire I had bought and paid for through the website installed. After more than an hour wait with zero progress, I was told they didn't even have the tire I bought and scheduled through the Pep Boys website, but they would gladly sell me a different tire for $30 more. I was in a jam with a car that needed to be moved and no tire so I paid the additional bait and switch type charges just to get out of there. $30 may not seem like much, but that combined with the slow service and dirty conditions inside is enough for me to never use this location or Pep Boys in general ever again.

***Buyer Beware*** I visited the Dedham location for new tires this past Saturday evening at 5 and was informed that the alignment technician had departed for the day, with instructions to return on Sunday. Upon arriving at 11:30 am Sunday, I was advised that the service would require three hours to complete, only after waiting several hours I was told at 4:30 pm that only one of the four tires was in stock. When voicing a compliant about the discrepancy and why tire availability was checked , the front desk guy responded with, quote, 'I cannot do it all myself, I am the only one here.'

Stay away !!! This place is horrible !!! I had a 3pm appointment time just to get a flat tire fixed - they told me an hour and a half when I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time. After an hour and 45 minutes my car still hadn’t even been brought in. Another person in the waiting room waited 4 hours just for them to tell him they didn’t have his tires in stock !!! 4 hours he waited for nothing. I asked another man how long he had been there - 3 hours !!! At that point I decided I had already wasted 2 hours on this place so I asked for my keys back and left. What is the purpose of having an appointment they don’t seem to care at all. They are the worst !!!!

Buyer Beware: improper tire/ undercarriage mounting and low staffing. Before I start, when I got to the store and checked in to my appointment, Charles was very kind and helpful- like him a great deal. I needed to get two tires changed and an oil change. I made my appointment in advance for 1/2 at 4pm, and when I show up, it doesn’t seem like any of my contact information get carried over from when I input them into the initial appointment scheduler. I selected to wait while my car was being working on but was promptly told to there was only going to be one guy working and it would be a 3.5 hr wait time. Fine. Low staffing, whatever. I pay for an uber home and get a notification my car is ready around when they said it would, but since they were about to close, I decided to wait until the next morning as I wouldn’t get there in time to pick it up. Come the next day, I pay my fee and go outside to see my car in the lot. As soon as I get in the car and drive off the lot, I noticed a sort of bumping and clicking sound as I’m driving home that wasn’t there before. I stop and inspect around the car and notice the undercarriage that protects my oil pan had only been put back on with many missing screws- barely enough to hold it on. I chock of the rattling to this. I know screws were missing because my last oil change, the techs didn’t put all my screws back in either and I had to go out and buy news ones for each slot. After getting home (20 miles or so), the clicking had gotten worse and the car started feeling wobbly, so I get out and inspect my tires. Sure enough, one of them was askew and the lug nuts were about two finger turns away from coming off. I jack up my car and tighten them myself and the car immediately feels better. I have never had this experience with lug nuts coming loose immediately after driving away from the store, so I know they weren’t tightened properly. Beware going to this location, especially if you don’t want your wheels to potentially come off as you drive home and like having all the parts on your car that were on it before dropping off.

The saga of Pep Boys Dedham vs. tire rotation and front-end alignment… It started on Friday, 12/12/25. I called the main number (apparently a call center) to set up an appointment to have my tires rotated and a front-end alignment. Literally spent 15 minutes on the call with a representative to set up the appointment for later that day – 4:30 pm to be exact. We walked through all the information – TWICE – seemed excessively thorough. He confirmed I was all set for the Pep Boys Providence Highway location in Dedham. I received like 3 email confirmations. Time invested on phone with Pep Boys - .25 hours I show up at 4:15 p.m. The young man working the desk looks in the system and cannot find the appointment. He tells me that this happens all the time, the call center books appointments that don’t show up in their system. He books the appt. on the spot. Around 7:00 pm, another worker walks over to where I am and tells me that they will be unable to perform the alignment. When I ask why, he tells me that the only guy that could do it went home. I express my disappointment (politely) and he tells me, I’ll rotate your tires right now and I will schedule an appointment for you to get the alignment and due to the inconvenience, I will do it for free. I agree and we book the appointment for 8:00 am, Tuesday 12/16/25. It still takes them 40 minutes to rotate the tires. I finally leave around 7:45 pm. Time invested onsite at Pep Boys on 12/12/25 – 3.5 hours. Total time invested by me – 3.75 hours. I arrive at Pep Boys at 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, 12/16 and go to the desk to check in. My appointment is in the system (great!), I give the guy a quick rundown of why I am here and why this is a fee alignment (based on not receiving the service on Friday). He says, no problem – BUT – the guy that usually comes in at 8:00 a.m. called in sick – BUT – the other guy usually comes in around 8:30 and he will have him start on my car as soon as he gets there. I agree and I wait. Around 9:05 am, I go to the front desk and ask, “did the guy not show up yet?” He told me that he just arrived and would get started right away. At 9:30 I notice that my car is still parked where I had parked in 1.5 hours ago. I told him to give me my key, I needed to go. He did offer to re-book the appointment and do the alignment (we’ve missed doing TWICE now) AND throw in an oil-change for free. Now, I love getting free things, but fool me twice, right? What is the likelihood that I bring my car in for a third time and – as luck would have it – the 1 guy that does oil changes on cars prior to model year 2023 calls in sick that day? Time invested onsite at Pep Boys on 12/16/25 – 1.5 hours. Total time invested by me – 5.25 hours. (I’m not gonna count the .5 hours it took me to write this – it was therapeutic) This place is under-staffed. When I was there (on both occasions), there are 2 guys hanging around up front and 2 to 3 people working in the back. Not sure how this staffing model works when 40% to 50% of the folks on the clock are not actually working on any of the cars? [As an aside: I should point out that the lobby of the Pep Boys in Fallujah is probably more comfortable and luxurious than the one in Dedham. The whole space is being renovated “so they can provide more services” (the irony of that bold proclamation is not lost on me). There is a TV that was blaring a Madea movie until another patron found a way to turn it off, some well-worn chairs and a coffee station that has a Keurig-type coffee maker, 1/3 of a bottle of powdered creamer, 20 bags of sweet n’ low, no coffee pods, no cups, no lids. The only window where you can see into the bay to see the work being done has been covered over with paper or garbage bags. I’ve spent many hours here, it could be better, even during renovations…]

Recently purchased tires from the pep boys website and had them installed here (Dedham). This location is a little dingy/barren inside, but the service was great. They had the tires I wanted, did the install more or less on time, and the people who helped were courteous and easy to deal with. I'd definitely recommend for tires if they've got what you're looking for and you're comfortable purchasing and scheduling online.

Unfortunately, I will be forced to give it a star. I shouldn’t give any. If you respect your well-being and want your car in a reliable place that will have quality services, this place is not at Pep boys, at least not at Dedham/MA. I took my car to change the tires and wanted the two behind that were already in it, back because they are in great condition but are for use in the summer. I bought the most expensive tires on the market and not even that made me sure of a good service given the laziness and laziness with the customer on the part of employees from that terrible place. I left my car at 1pm as scheduled, on 12/02. If I didn’t turn on the 4 o’cm, my car wouldn’t have been released on the same day. They only gave me the car at 7:28pm and on top of that they almost disappeared with the tires there that I had asked not to be discarded. They didn’t want to locate. I almost had to fight for that. By the way, they charged me for the disposal of 3 tires and not 2 as it should be. You could think: “but it’s the end of the year and it’s very busy”. And I answer you: A company of more than 40 years should not have this logistical difficulty yet! And worse, employees so uncommitted to the work and well-being of the client. My first last time to never again! And I still have doubts about the charge because I paid online at the appointment and had to pay again at the store. An endless mess! If I could give it a rating, I would give it less than 5 stars!

I bought tires from them last year and now I'm return customer and purchased set of 4 tires on last Saturday 11/29/2025 But the sale guy Jeff said we're so busy and could not install your tires today and have to schedule for installation on Monday 12/01/2025. I'm taking a day off and come on Monday and wait for couple hours they said they don't have the tires for me? This is a rediculous for business manner and ill responsibility. I'm still at the shop and wait for their response but they ignore and don't care my present. it's really frustrated.

Came here after speaking to customer service and setting a time appt 2pm but showed up early 1hr early since my issue started at another pepboys and they told me that my tires were available at this location. I sat for six hours and my car never got worked on. If they will have just communicated that they could not work on the car after two hours instead of me sitting there. I would’ve been fine. A little bit upset because I never got the tires. But I would’ve been better off.but no I sat an extra four hours and never Getting the tires installed.

This place is poorly managed, products and services maybe good but they have to respect for customers. Like many other reviewers, I came with a scheduled appointment. They put the car on the lift after 3hrs and it sat on the list for another 3 hrs. When I asked why so much delay, the front desk guy only stated they are backed up because everyone is getting 4 tires, not 1. It will be my first and last time doing business here. ** UPDATE *** Service manager reached out and apologized for the situation and explained that this arises from the website allowing bookings beyond locations capability. If that’s true, the issue is not with the location - it’s with the corporate.

I had my 4 tires replaced at Pep Boys. When I called ahead, I was told the total would be $120, but after the installation I was charged $152, which was disappointing. I also chose the option to wait during the service, but the waiting room was very cold and uncomfortable. The tire replacement itself was done correctly, but clearer pricing and a more comfortable waiting area would make the experience much better.

If I can give this place a negative I will. What’s the point of having an appointment when you will be sitting here like an idiot for 4-6 hours before they even start work on your car with an appointment. It took them close to 6 hours before even pulling my car in for 4 wheels replacement. I see people come after with appointment and no appointment and they leave before me. So they pick which car to do first without order of appointment? A guy came 3 hours after me and he was out with 4 new wheels within a hour. I recommend this place to your worst enemies since they’ll be waiting here all day. If you love yourself please don’t come here since you’ll waste your time. I see people before me waited for hours and finally had enough so they went to ask front desk just to be told they didn’t have enough of the tires they requested so they didn’t start work yet. Also they stated it would take around 2hours the lastest to be done and it’s a lie they’re train to tell everyone that it take 1 and a half to 2 hours. If you can only afford to have 1 mechanic then don’t promise something you can’t do. People time are valuable so don’t give false timeframe.

I arrived at 9:30 am, they put my car on the machine, removed all 4 wheels, waited until 6 pm and still hadn't changed all 4 brakes and pads. I will never go back to that place, "Pep Boys," the worst service of my life. I thought going to the hospital was a waste of time before I knew about this place.

0/10 would never do it again. My first and last time going to Pep Boys. At this point reading the reviews I wish I had read them prior. The service at this location was extremely poor and I wish I hadn’t come to begin with. I purchased 4 new tires, 4hrs+ when my car was ready I noticed there is a tire that is not the same as the other 3, my tire caps are missing and my spare is missing as well. Not sure why it’s not common sense to place the spare where it should go instead of having the customer ask for it. I was not able to get the tire changed same day due to the fact that there were no more in stock and needed to be ordered. Thank goodness there was a manager that able to rectify these issues the next following week. It was still a miserably poor experience overall and extremely inconveniencing on my time as a customer.

Looks like this place is run by a group of amateurs and lack of personnel. Scheduled a tire change service for noon. At the check in they promised it so be done by 2. Came at 2:30 car was still not even inside. Asked what is up they said they are backed up and promised get it done in 1h. After 40 min nothing changed. In the meantime personnel hang around the shop, pull in their own cars to lifts and back.

I arrived at 9:45am today and I made an appointment for 10am and have been sitting in the waiting room thinking my car will get worked on at 10am, Not true don’t expect your appointment time to be accurate because they only have one mechanic in the bay and that takes to long for each customer, not only that horrible customer service experience. Waiting room is ok .. they have a coffee machine with no coffee which would be nice when your waiting. Should step up the customer service and make the waiting more pleasant by having coffee available for the customers. Should tell the customers how long you will be waiting and how many people are ahead of you. Waiting gets packed and then you start to tell uncomfortable with lots of other people to close in one area. I wouldn’t be here but it’s the closets to where I live and not only that reasonable prices for an oil change ! Other than that I wouldn’t be here at all !!

Alignment looks good I guess. I don’t understand the point of making an appointment though. I made an appointment for 9:30 AM hoping I would get out before noon. The guy at the front desk told me it would be about an hour and a half. Three hours go by and I ask them what’s going on. The guy at the front desk says we can get it done in about 30 minutes. OK so then why couldn’t you get that done at 9:30 so I could be out at 10 AM? “We only have one guy who can do alignments”. I’m sorry but I didn’t even know Pep Boys fixes other mechanical issues, I’ve only known them for selling tires and with buying tires you get an alignment so why do you only have one guy for this job? That’s like if I go to Valvoline and they don’t know how to do an oil change. And then the guy that did my alignment comes out and he goes. I’m sorry that was me. I came in late. So the guy wasn’t even there to do it when I came in at 9:30!! I wish they would’ve just told me they have nobody to do my car and I would’ve rescheduled instead of wasting my time. They didn’t pull my car into the garage until 12:15 PM. They lowered my car off the lift at 1:00 PM. They offered a very small discount for wasting my time. $13 off. I’m sorry, but I really don’t believe that in alignment should take half a day to get done. Don’t waste your Time by coming here. You’re better off paying a little extra money to get it done in a timely manner.

Hate too rate them negatively as Brandon seemed like a good person. Pep boys said could fix my emergency brake with an adjustment and went to pick up vehicle said it still didn't hold. Still charged me anyways. Even though spent over 1000.00 dollars Felt I was overcharged on other repairs and didn't rotate tires like promised with oil change. Tried to use there customer service company resolution line but got no where. Waste of time. Told me to bring car back to them to make things right but not sure I will as disputing charges with their credit card company. My serpentine belt was also replaced by them. No longer will have my car service at any Pep Boys. Long wait times and I also wasted a whole day there previously when my car was there all day and never serviced. I Definitely wouldn't recommend Pep boy's as customer service seems to be lacking and service needs improvement. Also found many negative reviews online by other customers using pep boys. Steve

First time at pep Boys. I walked in so I expected not to get any service but I did witch was nice. I did notice that my tires were done well over an hour before the manager called me over, I wasn't upset but not happy for that. Nice people but this location does need help.

Worst experience ever is an understatement. I needed my brakes to be serviced on a Sunday and of course my go to mechanic was not available, anyway I came across Pep Boys in Dedham for what I thought was a good idea. I made the appointment on Saturday for Sunday morning. I arrived 30 minutes early to get a head start (appointment time 9:30am). It was about 10am when I was told that the technician hadn’t gotten to work yet, so I’m thinking that ok things happen they’ll get right to it when he gets here. I had been sitting in the waiting room for a good 2-3 hours when I decide to ask how the repair is going… It turns out they didn't have the parts supposedly and they just arrived 20 minutes ago and it would take them 45 additional minutes. To make this long story even longer, not only were they extremely unprofessional, the wait was long, and the price for rear brakes was astronomical. -10/10 would never recommend.

On Saturday 27th I went to have my Nissan pathfinder tires replaced. I got there at 8:29 am. I was helped by a person name Brendan, he was very helpful. About an hour later(9:30 am) my car was put on a lift and stayed there for another hour without nothing being done. Suddenly they took my car out of the lifter and parked it outside on the parking lot. I approached the person that remove the car from the lifter what was happening, he told me that he needed to fix something in another vehicle that it wasn’t going to take more than 5 minutes to fix the other vehicle, I said ok not a problem. 45 minutes passed an my car was still parked in the parking lot, by then it was another hour has gone by and my car was not being serviced. At around 11:20 am I was called that they only found 2 tires in the store and that they are looking for the other 2 that they have in stock, but that they can’t find them. At 11:30 I was called that they couldn’t find the other 2 tires and that they will call me to set up an appointment so my car can be serviced. I left very disappointed after wasting most of my morning. Today is the 30th of September that I am writing this review an no calls have been received. PepBoy is not reliable anymore. Maybe you need to reorganize better to compete with other tire businesses that are around your area, otherwise you will fail. BJ’S has a better service than you have now, and they are just around the corner. Make some improvements.

Had a passenger van that urgently needed its brakes done so I could get it back into service. The dealer and my local mechanic were booking out 1.5-2 weeks in advance. Not good. I was able to get a Pep Boys appointment next-day. The shop had a delay in diagnosing the vehicle and honestly I had to call multiple times to get an update, but in the end the service was completed well—at the end of day 2–and it was a great price. What they lack in solid proactive communication and timeliness they more than make up for in doing good work and charging a price far less than a dealer or high end local mechanic. I came away with the feeling that they (or Corporate) allows overbooking of appointments which ends up frustrating customers. It’s not the fault of the shop staff. That said, they would benefit greatly from making proactive customer communication a priority. I’ve read other reviews with horror stories of delays among customers waiting for their car during service I would NOT do service here if I had to wait on-site while the work was being done. I would only do dropoff here.

Im so disgusted . Went there last week to get new air sensors put in after waiting over 3 hours, they told me I need air sensors and they don't stock them. The main concern was selling me new tires so I agreed and made an appointment for 10 o'clock Sunday called at 1230 to hear your behind the next car to go. What good is an appointment. The guy was more interested in telling me he can't move me up

Reviews are consistent and accurate. Made an app for 1PM to have all four of my tires replaced/alignment. I was told upon arrival that the technician was on break. No courtesy phone call to inform me that my appointment would be delayed. Two hours into my visit, I was informed that I needed to replace the tire rods which added a significant delay(5+ hours). When I tried to communicate my grievances I was informed that they were working on multiple cars. This location needs significant improvement in communication and efficiency. Daley was the only rep who was clear and responsive in communication and very much saved the day! Increased transparency would support customers in managing expectations and provide clarity. Poor business practices, unprofessional, and careless with peoples time; this is my first visit and last visit. Poor customer satisfaction.

I’ve had some issues at this Pep Boys in Dedham in the past, especially when getting tires replaced. This time, however, everything went excellently! They replaced all four tires, and my car was ready in just one hour. Overall, everything was very smooth. The only minor thing is that the customer service could be a bit friendlier, but as long as they get the job done quickly, I’m happy. Highly recommend for fast and efficient service!

Tires look great. Would appreciate some better time-frames for the work being done and the oil cap being put on when the oil change is finished. I went in around 11:00 I was told it would be about 2 hours for four tires and an oil change. Car was not put on the lift until about 2:30 and was done @3:40. After being late to meet up with someone and driving around for hours, I discovered a light amount of smoke coming out of my engine compartment. The oil cap was not put back on and my engine was glazed in motor oil.

Overall had a great experience. It’s a very busy place and the moved vehicles in and out. They took mine in on time and when they realized I needed specific lug nuts they didn’t have they gave me the option of going down the street to by them to save time and money. Of course this put a monkey wrench in timing so it was a bit of a longer day. But with my products being delivered in two shipments and needing to adjust my appointments a few time and knowing I was coming a distance they were very accommodating. Loving my new tires and rims.

The service is EXTREMELY SLOW at this Pep Boys location. I always wait 3+ hours to get an oil change on my vehicle. They prefer you make an appointment but they do not stay on schedule. I have been a customer here for years and have had enough of the same excuses. You can literally sit outside of their work area and watch the crew smoking and carrying on, while I was told that they were waiting for a machine to free up. This will definitely be my last visit here to this store. I would absolutely NOT recommend this location to anyone for their car needs. I’ve been here at the shop today for 4 hours and still do not have my vehicle. Front desk is deserted and no one is here to give me answers.
