Do NOT come here if you are a minority. The STAFF follows your around and harasses you. I had park maintenance try to pit manuever my car and then follow me all around in there white truck. AGAIN! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PARK TO ANY PERSON OF COLOR. THEY ARE RACIST AND HATEFUL. Beautiful park but I feel disgusted by the behavior of the staff. This place is not safe at all!!! Stay away everyone

very impressive park. historical housing exhibit near the visitor centre, with an extremely knowledgeable ranger to show you around. Great trails of varying lengths, some cool boardwalks through the marshes. Selby Landing is an excellent boat ramp, and boatloads ? of parking.

Wonderful trails for the horses and great views, but the deer flies and ground bee's were terrible this time of year. Horses got attacked by ground bees about eight times throughout the trails. That's why I gave it a 3 star other than that, it's a 5 star place.

Wonderful place to go hiking, fishing, boating. The trails offered start from a rural museum and offer views into what fishing, blacksmithing, and what life was like back then. There's also a Sears mail order house nesting there that was quite a sight to see. Anyway, the trails that begin from that point loop around about 3 miles and aren't challenging whatsoever. It scales through mainly rockless terrain and into the marsh step footing on a long intricate boardwalk before spanning towards other trails. There are a few stops to see on these trails as well. Anyway, free of entry. Parking lot fits about 20 cars. Not challenging to hike.

My favorite park in southern md. Great selection of trails and connects to another park with a offroad trial you drive on.

If you’re looking for a quaint and peaceful escape, Patuxent River Park at Jug Bay is a gem. It offers a sense of seclusion that’s perfect for those who appreciate quiet moments in nature. My personal favorite spot is the observation tower, which has a a great view of the water and waterfowl. The fishing dock is another highlight, perfect for a calm afternoon by the river. It looks totally different in the fall/winter than in the spring/summer and this visit inspired me to actually leave a review and a couple pics. There are also well-maintained trails and next time, I’m going to grab a trail map to explore and check them out. Each visit feels like discovering a new side of this beautiful landscape. I highly recommend for nature/trail lovers or anyone seeking a peaceful retreat!

A very nice nature reserve on the Patuxent River. There is a great ADA accessible viewing tower near the lot which gives a beautiful view over the watershed. I hiked the purple and brown trails that were both well maintained and look forward to going back for the others.

This past Saturday, April 27, I visited the park and went on a pantoon tour of the river with the family and Alex was tour guide. It was an absolutely awesome experience, learning about the Osprey and other wildlife. Alex is extremely knowledgeable and was fun in his explanations. We also met other Park staff which was very engaging and helpful; one young woman explaining about the animal skins/furs and another on the procreation of turtles! I highly recommend this 5 star Park and staff to anyone wishing a fun individual or family adventure. Keep up the great service!

My favorite park in the DMV area. Beautiful ecosystems with an amazing abundance of wildlife. I’ve never seen so many ospreys in one spot. The park has a bunch of trails and they are well marked and maintained. The boardwalk through the marsh is a highlight every time I go. The Patuxent River is absolutely gorgeous and the park is doing an amazing job preserving this habitat.

Gorgeous location for taking family, engagement, maternity and senior pictures or just walking around, relaxing, and enjoying the surroundings! The park features a couple of adorable pavilions, breathtaking views of the river, beautiful stairs and piers, and a big observation tower.

The park is really nice, they just need to identify the trails better, specially for 1st time hikers.

Great place to soak up some nature! Take a camera, take your fishing pole, Frisbee, bike or kayak or just take a walk. You can do a "driving tour" around the park (Sundays only I think?)

Beautiful view from the observation platform. There are some interesting buildings on site.

Access to the water is easy. They have kayaks, canoes, life jackets and paddles to outfit you for your time on the water. A lookout tower provides a wonderful view to see the bay. Walk down a stone path to a turn of the century museum that is well worth the visit!

This place is definitely for lovers of Nature and the great outdoors. Stop at the visitor’s center to pickup maps of the park. There are plenty of trails for hikers, a fishing pier, and a few overlook points. I recommend covering your hair with a cap or bandanna because of the abundance of flying insects.

Wonderful park. Great overlook that allows you to see the entire park. Also has a boat ramp where you can easily launch. I will be going back here

Very easy, peaceful trail. I gave 5 stars because other than the parking lot, we didn't see a soul. We jumped from brown to green to red to purple and back to red trails. The brown trail was wooden planks over wetlands and was the most interesting of the trails. Lots of blue tailed skinks. Frogs and song birds.. We did see a couple of osprey. The rest of the hike was through woodlands . Again very peaceful.

We had a Scouts Pack 257 Arrow of Light weekend campout in the campgrounds. We hiked to the river and caught a few fish and saw racoon bones and a excavated turtle nest. ??? C'est la vie! It was a beautiful weekend and everyone had a great time!
