Went here about a month ago and I had to look back at how amazing this food was. Had to travel north due to flights being cancelled after Christmas 2025 and I needed a good, hot southern meal to take with me up north. When I say great customer service, food fresh and out of this world, definitely top with the cabbage and the fried chicken. The strawberry punch or lemonade was out of this world and the half sweet tea/half lemonade was perfectly made for each. It was delicious I had to take a bite before pulling off. Thank you for a hot home cooked meal for my drive and I can’t wait to be back.

Visited on our last day of the trip and the food was good. Got fried catfish, hush puppies, mac and cheese, and potato salad and everything had really good taste and was nice and warm. The catfish had a very mild taste.

This is a really good soul food restaurant, and I’m not sure why the ratings aren’t higher. I had the macaroni and cheese, which was fresh, creamy, and delicious. The greens were well-seasoned, the fried catfish was good, and the seafood salad was outstanding. I also tasted my man’s turkey wings, and they were great too. Overall, everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. Definitely worth giving this place a try.

I came here once for lunch n ever since this has been my lunch area for the last 7months now. I recommended this place to my friends n co workers n it has been their home ever since. Love the staff they are patient n make sure your order is correct n to your liking. They are very polite here, the food is bomb my is relaxing just the atmosphere u want on a stressful day of work n ohh let me not start on the drinks best I have ever had in my life n the food will leave u wanting for more

I had just posted yesterday how good your food was.Last night I ordered the turkey wings dinner,sides cabbage n my favorite sweet potato. I order the same thing every time. I was so disappointed the yams were CAN I hate can yams.they didn't have any ingredients in them and mushy The cabbage was so peppery couldn't eat them ,the turkey could have cook a little longer. The food was not cooked by the same person, unless your cook was having a off day. Im a cook ,I know can sweet potatoes from fresh peeled sweet potatoes.

The staff here was very nice and helpful the service was just great but the food was ok i walking in thinking it was black ran and owned business but it's just black owned now back to the food I could not taste the soul in this food I think it's because and this is just my opinion. But you don't have the culture that started it cooking it and you can tell i've even seen asian people try their hand at cooking soul food I just had to SMFH because it didn't have any soul to it but it's black people fault because we open up these spot just to have other cultures like Latina people cooking the food. It's not going to come out just right

I have been going to Southern Blues for years and this was my first time at the Hanover location. I ordered the BBQ beef ribs with collard greens and string beans, plus mac and cheese and a seafood salad. Every single item was packed with flavor. The string beans had that real southern taste with the vinegar and seasoning. The collard greens were rich, comforting, and exactly what I had been craving. The beef ribs were fall apart tender and the portion was very generous. The mac and cheese was creamy and on point. Even the seafood salad surprised me and I am not even a seafood person. It was perfectly seasoned and brought everything together. This meal felt like a real home cooked dinner and I have not had one like this in a long time. You can tell the food is made with care and cooked to order. 10 out of 10 experience. I will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommended.

Every time I’ve come here I’ve regretted it. The staff always has an attitude and the food isn't anything special. It’s nothing special worth paying a premium for, and tastes like basic food you could make at home. The Mac and cheese is inedible! Got home and of course an item is missing. Hospitality is also just that. If you cannot have basic manners, kindness and customer service skills, you are not equipped for the job. A business who is unkind to their customers should not be supported. I recommend avoiding this place.

The service is ok, but the food is trash. My wife and I got two fish dinners. The fish was all bread,and rubbery, the collards greens had more sticks then greens. If you call that baked Mac and cheese, Kraft deluxe is going to have a issue. The yams was sweet enough to give you diabetes. First and last time eating there. Spent 40 dollars on green sticks, fake baked Mac and cheese, a portion of sugar and hard fish bread.

My husband and I were starving and we couldn’t decide on what to eat. Now we have been to Southern blues before maybe two years ago. The service then wasn’t the greatest. We decided to give this spot another chance and I am very happy that we did! The smothered pork chops were phenomenal as well as the Beef ribs. They were super tender and very flavorful. My husband and I are both exceptional cooks and if we rate this good, believe us!! This is establishment is definitely under new management ! We will be back. Thanks again!!!?

I dont understand the “3.9” at all…. I admit, i was swayed by the “rating” but after hearing about this place from a respected acquaintance, i had to try. I was promptly greeted by the counter. I explained it was my first time and was overwhelmed by the menu with everything looking so good! The menu was broken down in a calm easy to understand tone and i was also advised everything was made to order so the wait would be 20-25 minutes. I waited for my food in their spacious waiting area which was clean and not too loud. I ultimately settled on the fried chicken dinner and everything was cooked perfectly. The yams reminded me of my grandmother’s. The mac n cheese melted in your mouth and had the right amount of flavor and cheese. I have never had a better piece of fried chicken and the corn bread was almost like a perfect dessert with the meal. I have already told my family i have found my new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. I cant wait to go back. Thank you to Darnell and his staff for a pleasant first experience.

I enjoyed the quick service. The customer was outstanding!!! OMG the food was so great! I felt like it was homemade!!! And ordered the turkey wings, it comes on a bed of rice and 2 sides. I chose the collard greens & the yellow potato salad. Yummy!!! Thanks so much. Price was reasonable. You go to a fast food restaurant and spend $15?on a meal that is full of processed ingredients. BUT GOD! Southern blues has great portion sizes and the corn bread is great too. I love it here!!????????

The fried chicken and smothered turkey were seasoned really well. The sides - macaroni and cheese, cabbage, collard greens, and yams - were very tasty. Better than most other restaurants out here in these streets. Would highly recommend, but you will be waiting a while for your food. So, call ahead, if you can. The half and half - ice tea and lemonade - was excellent.

Amazing Food and Service! Before coming to the area from Philly and Atlanta we researched black-owned restaurants and found this place. Great choice because the food was so darn good! When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a super friendly lady who took our order. We ordered fried whiting, turkey wings and salmon (which both came with rice and gravy), collard greens, mac/cheese and yams. We also took home some lemon cake and sweet potato pie for later. There were about three seating booths in the restaurant so we decided to dine-in. The owner had relaxing R&B playing so we were also vibing while we were eating. There was a steady flow of patrons while we were dining which confirmed we made the right choice. This location is located in a shopping center so there is plenty of free parking. Please support our minority businesses and try out Southern Blues if you are in the area. #SupportBlackandBrownBusinesses

Me and my family stopped by on our way to Maryland University to drop our daughter off. We’re from New Jersey. The food was very good. Excellent service no complaints.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with the warm aroma of sweet, Southern soul food—just like grandma’s kitchen. Here’s a breakdown of my plate: ? Candied Yams – 10/10 Fresh, tender, and perfectly sweet. These were hands-down one of my favorites! ? Mac & Cheese – 5/10 Unfortunately, a letdown. The cheese tasted very generic and lacked that rich, homemade flavor. Not nearly creamy or cheesy enough. ? Fried Chicken – 10/10 Golden, crispy, and seasoned just right. A true soul food staple done to perfection. ? Whiting Fish – 7/10 Well-seasoned and cooked nicely, but I’ve had better whiting elsewhere. ? Seafood Salad – 4/10 This missed the mark for me. It had a strange aftertaste and just didn’t sit right. ? Cornbread – 6/10 It was okay—moist but not especially memorable. ? Mango Lemonade – 10/10 Absolutely delicious! Perfect balance of sweet and tart—highly recommend. ✨ Customer Service & Experience – 10/10 The staff was friendly, and I didn’t have to wait long at all for my food. That, paired with the welcoming atmosphere, made for a great visit overall.

Craving soul food, I ordered from this location via Uber Eats and was impressed! The food arrived hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered. The turkey wings were flavorful and well-portioned, the mac & cheese had great taste, and the fried leg quarter was perfectly seasoned. A soulfood place located right outside of Ft. Meade's gate. I'd be crazy not to try it. I have been here twice. As you can tell from the pictures I ordered: smoothered turkey wings, mac and greens. Fried chicken wings, mac and yams. I ordered a blue drink that taste just like kool-aid(not pictured). It was too sweet I had to add water in it. The wings were good. They were seasoned. The turkey wings were good as well. The yams were good, not too sweet but just right. The greens were salty and the mac was decent. It was giving peppery. Would I try it again, of course. It's convenient and reasonable. And there's other things on the menu I would like to try. I would recommend ordering online for pick up. But please check your food before you leave. I've been giving the wrong food before. I do keep in mind that mistakes happen.

Today was our first day eating at Southern Blue. Barbecue beef ribs were great and tasted amazing. The macaroni and cheese was good, the cabbage was great, and the collard greens were great. My wife had the baked tilapia, and it was ok. The corn bread muffin tasted like sweet ginger bread and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the hush puppies which were savoury. I tried the coconut cake and the carrot cake . I can only give the two desserts a one star performance.

I think I found my new favorite restaurant in Maryland. The staff is very friendly, the price is really good for the amount of food they give you, the (the most important part) the food is incredible. This is a picture of the smothered fried pork chop with string beans, and mac & cheese. Highly recommend.

The 1st time I ate from Southern Blues was in Randallstown, MD roughly 15 years ago and it was great then as it is still great. Customer service is always on point too. I bought the Barbecue beef dinner with two sides and seafood salad. I will also say that the seafood salad had a sweet taste yet very slight spice to it which was different to me. Overall the food is always good and delicious when I go here. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out so check them out.??? Peace and Blessings!!!

First time here and the food was amazing! The staff was very friendly and even let us sample a couple items. We got good size portions of Mac n cheese (made with a touch of nutmeg), yams (a lil too sweet for me but great flavor) collard greens, fried trout, salmon, and chicken wings. That fish was on point baby! Perfectly cooked still moist and very fresh. The mac n cheese was delish and those greens....I will Def be back next time I'm in B-more. Great job family.

So, apparently, this place is under new management. So don’t let this 3.9 Stop you from going here. I am a very, very picky person and I never write reviews stop there today because I work in the area was tired of eating, eating the same food everyday. I also have stomach issues as well so I’m limited on where I can eat. I got the catfish collard greens and yams and I can tell you that every thing was absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked. Perfect moist perfect crunch not greasy yams or candied perfect and the greens were seasoned perfectly, I definitely will be going here to try more. The staff was super friendly, and the place was very clean. I’m sure this 3.9 rating will go up very soon. This is a must eat.

I don't know what happened since I last tried and reviewed this place but the quality went up. Catfish was seasoned, Mac and cheese was good (not my own), greens really seasoned, and corn bread muffin was great. For a quick bite to eat with a craving doe soul food this definitely hit the mark. I hope it stays this way.

Visited this establishment on 7/22/2023, waited 15mins for my food, which baffled my mind considering the chicken wings were already cooked & my sides were also clearly precooked (except the forgot to cook the potatoes for the salad) I had to pick through the chicken wings bc they were stale and dry, the mac and cheese was awful! It tasted like they need a box or two of baking soda in their fridge, it was nasty and old! Greens had more stems than actual leaves. Potato salad had RAW potatoes in it. Extremely disgusting!! Reached out to the owner via email to privately inform him of the quality of food. He never responded, completely ignored my concerns. If he doesn’t care why should I? So here’s my PUBLIC review! Spending over $55 for two FIVE wing dinners is insane in today’s economic disaster, especially when it taste like trash! Do yourself a favor, don’t waste your time or money on this restaurant! Go support another local business where they care about and appreciate their customers experience, money and time. This place ain’t it.

I love receiving hot, fresh Catfish. Fried to perfection with some good hot sauce. Great southern style food. I love the scenery with legendary southern blues artists. The cashier was friendly and he brought my To-Go food over to my table. Great service!

I didn't like the food. The Mac & Cheese had a good amount of cheese but was bland and missing flavor. Candie Yams taste like Canned Yams. They were stringing, hard and not sweet. The baked BBQ chicken was tender but bland. Again missing flavor. The corn bread was cold and bland. NO FLAVOR. The greens were just okay. Customer service was great. Staff is very friendly.
