Hauled/picked up recycling crunched-up jugs of laundry detergent bottles and these things had plenty of detergent still in them! So by the time I got unloaded, I wasn’t able to pickup another load because my wooden trailer floor on my dry van had detergent liquid smeared all over the entire floor of the trailer!!! Had to get a washout and wait for wooden trailer floor to dry up! And it’s going to take extra long because of the oily liquid!! By the that time all the loads will be taken!!! Never again!!!

On 02/24/2026 at 1:30 PM, a blonde, glasses-wearing male staff member at the scale house, approximately 35–38 years old, once again made me feel uncomfortable. For the past two weeks, I have been bringing South Portland’s trash with the same truck. In order to hear me, he needs to open his own window, but most of the time he does not. Yesterday at 1:30 PM, he did open his window; I clearly told him the load was from South Portland, he said “okay,” and the trash was dumped. However, when I later came to pick up the paperwork, he handed me papers labeled “Saco.” When I told him this was incorrect, he responded in an irritated and aggressive manner, saying, “You’re making things difficult for me, but I will take care of it.” Previously, I always thanked him, but he never responded, so I eventually stopped. I do not understand how it can seem acceptable to treat people this way because of differences in skin color. Racism only creates unnecessary problems for everyone. I strongly disapprove of this behavior.

Ecomaine is such a great place with wonderful people that work there. Except, Dave the loader operator who causes conflict and makes others feel extremely uncomfortable. I have made many complaints, with absolutely no changes whatsoever. There have been numerous times where he used the loader as a scare tactic when driving extremely close to my truck. He has tried to speak to me with the utmost disrespect for any concern he has. I have also had many customers tell me that they will not go there because of this man.

I hate giving ecomaine such little stars because I am there every single day more then once a day. Dave the loader operator does everything in his power to make people's day worse by blocking people from swinging there truck and trailer into lanes to taking 15 minutes to load one shopping cart in and so much more. I know people from other business giving ecomaine a bad name just because of him. He has scared women and honestly put people in danger by the way he operates the loader. So many complaints but yet he is still there, for the sake of the name of ecomaine please let this man go, he is angry and unprofessional and so many people complain. He starts arguments with people and is just unsafe. Everybody is great and I hate giving this review because all the other workers are professional and helpful, Dave needs to take some classes or a long vacation.

I have been using ecomaine for years and love the facility. The other day I went in with a load and had mistakenly brought the wrong credit card to work with me & didn’t work at the scale house. Sorry I’m human and not a robot of perfection. I was only short $15 which was then paid the following day they were open. Easy. The part I’m having an issue with, is someone within the facility is sharing my info with other customers. I had owed $15 and somehow half the world knew about it the same day? is there any rules within or outside the company that prohibits sharing customers information? Not professional at all when I hear through multiple people of a oooopsie I did the same day. Not to thrilled my billing stats and or info is being shared around

Awesome people to do business with, but they are selective about what they take. I tore a shed down and they wouldn't take it. Then I brought metal shelving in and they refused it. I like the facility and it's good for daily trash, but not really sure about using it for business other than house garbage.

Truck driver here. Called ahead and I was able to dump half a pallet of lettuce that was refused at a delivery somewhere else. Thank you very much. Edit: lots of space for an 18 wheeler to get in and out.

My wife went for the first time today to EcoMaine to drop off our recycling we had been saving up for a month. She clearly stated when she arrived that she had never been there before, and that she was there with recycling, not trash. She was directed to follow others in vehicles in line. She went into a place she described as the dirtiest recycling facility she had ever experienced, she asked two people around her, Was this the right place to recycle? They said, Yes, you can recycle here. She specified she was only here to recycle. She left her items there and on her way out she was directed to pay $15 for "trash disposal." She said, No, she had not brought any trash, she had only brought recycling, and recycling drop off was supposed to be free. They told her she had to pay because she went through the trash facility and left trash. She said she told the staff person at the beginning that she only had recycling and was directed to follow the others, so she did. She asked for a supervisor. A person came and claimed to be a supervisor and said the same thing, that she had gone through the trash facility and had to pay $15. Because she was in a rush to pick up visitors from the airport, she paid the $15, but this is not right. We spent time and effort cleaning and collecting these items to recycle, now they are apparently going to a landfill with garbage (or hopefully they were pulled out to be recycled!), and we were charged for a service that is supposed to be free! She tried multiple times with multiple people to say she was only there to recycle. This organization needs to post clear signs showing a different line for recycling versus for garbage drop off. Employees at this organization need to direct people clearly what to do and what not to do for recycling versus for garbage. What a frustrating experience, after we were trying to do the right thing and keep recyclable items out of landfills!
