Do not use this bottle redemption! It's the worst. Horrible customer service. I asked for assistance and they refused to help me. Then laughed when I said I would just bag them back up and leave. Save your time and trouble and go somewhere else. Plenty of very nice bottle redemptions and ones willing to help.
We stopped in to get some stuff for a meeting we were at. Although they did not have my standards i was able to try some of their barrel picks. They were very good, I had a woodford double oaked that tasted like the double double for only $72. We ended up with that one and it was super popular at our event. I appreciate their explanation as well about why they did not have many of the things I normally drink. I would stop here again.
This place rocks.
If you're looking for a beer, something harder, or a soda like Wild Bill's for example then it'll probably be here.
I've also had a lot of luck getting sour/gose/etc style beers along with having the employees ask whether I noticed "this or that" beer before checking out which almost always leads me to getting at least one more.
Went there to return my bottles. Didn’t like that his was self service. Since when do you go to return your bottles & cans you have to do the work yourself. Then why pay 2 -3 people to be there. If I wanted to do that I would have gone to Shaws. Just saying!
You have to really watch this place. You could do the machine and return your bottles but every bottle that you throw in that box don’t count it being counted because I counted how many one time that I threw in the bin and when I went up to the front to exchange my receipt for the money, counted 45 bottles the dude only counted 24 Kind of a rip off if you don’t count your bottles that you throw in the bin
Do NOT use this redemption center they legit throw peoples money away! My husband went in yesterday to return bottles after having to waste a 1/2 hour he took bottles that the machine wouldn’t take to the employee who went through them and proceeded to throw away bottles that clearly have the 5 cent return on them because “ we don’t take them here” so instead of asking if he wanted them back to return elsewhere! When my husband asked for them back he was told they were thrown away and taken to the dumpster There was atleast $5+ in returns how dare you think it’s okay to throw away other peoples money! Will never return to this location again it’s a waste of time and clearly money.

I live outside of Bangor and often commute in for Doctor's appointments, shopping and errands. I shop at Damon's because they carry brands of Tequila I drink.
Although I typically prefer Anejo Tequila, and am a fan of 1800 Anejo as well as Maestro Dobel Anejo... the Torada Gold (Reposado) is delicious and also a bargain! Under $15 a Liter Bottle! So that is what I am usually looking to buy.
And although Damon's DOES have a shelf for Torada Gold (Reposado), in the last 7 times I have visited the store to purchase Torada Gold (Reposado)... FIVE (5) of those times they have been out of stock.
Hard to make any money selling tequila that is usually "out of stock".

I noticed something about this store that struck me as odd. Although usually in stock, the 1800 Anejo as well as the Maestro Dobel Anejo never have many bottles on the shelf, often it is just one... never more than three. Same with the Torada Gold (Reposado), I've never seen more than two bottles. I would have bought more, had there been more... I always buy all they have up to three bottles.
When I asked why that was, I was told that Damon's has to "purchase" every bottle on their shelves... and so purchase only a minimal amount to limit financial risk.
OK. I get that. With a $45.00 1800 Anejo or a $65.00 Maestro Dobel Anejo, you might not want to lay out the funds to fill the shelves with a dozen bottles. Especially if you're not selling that many.
But Torada, a delicious tequila under $15 a bottle retail? That in your store is almost ALWAYS out of stock?! You people are losing money! Don't you know how to run a business? Hard to make any money selling "out of stock" tequila.
Come on Damon's, do you need me to lend you a couple of hundred for those first two cases? Then as soon as one case is gone, you just need to order another.

Or do I need to drive to NH where I can BUY CASES FOR LESS THAN $9.00 A BOTTLE? The round trip blows a whole day, but AT LEAST THOSE FOLKS KEEP IT IN STOCK!

Always liked coming to Damons until having to deal with this one lady. Idk what her issue is with people but generally when people have 10-15 bags of bottles they are not stored in a house and there may be a little dirt on them. For an associate to state they will turn away business if there is a little bit of dirt on the bottles is crazy. Attitude is insanely rude. I've never encountered such a rude ignorant associate before
If they don't have it, they'll find it and order it. Wide variety, better than any grocery store when it comes to full selection! Great loyalty program and best redemption center. Tasting events are not to be missed.
UPDATE:
The front of store with beverages is still great. But here's the problem: the redemption center has become worse than it was when it was downtown. There are a number of Maine 5-cent returnables they will no longer accept (doesn't that make them lose their eligibility in Maine?). I don't understand how any business can designate them as their designated center when they utterly refuse to accept things sold in those same stores where we paid deposit. They also have completely let the back area become a stinky rat hole worse than it was downtown -- and I suppose self-service machines are almost never cleaned. I found it better to go up to other redemption centers now by far. Which is unfortunate for them because now we no longer buy our large liquor purchases while we are there...
Showed up at 5:40 for the redemption center. The employee was outside smoking a cigarette and told us they would not service us because they were closing soon. The website should reflect the difference between the store and redemption center. But based on the reviews, we lucked out by not having to go through this place, although we wasted our time driving down.
Although they have no control over pricing, they do have control over their attitude. Every single employee I have dealt with has been the absolute best!!! Needed a bunch of nips for an adult egg hunt (it’s Easter) and wanted a specific type for different people. Clerk was not only amazing but felt he was very personable!! Gave me suggestions and I never felt hurried!!! Damon’s Bangor is the best!!!

I stopped here on my way back to Canada and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I bombarded one guy with so many questions and he was so patient with me and very knowledgeable. Excellent service !

Overall, they have lots of selection for everything and plenty in stocks. The prices are way better even with the conversion (we are from Canada). It's definitely a good spot to stop if you're looking for alcohol and if you are Canadian, you will notice that there's lots of amazing deals compared to the price down home.
Many selections of beer and liquor but the bottle redemption side is very poor service and bad customer service. Self service machines which is a nightmare and one of the workers was very rude about having to count a few bags of glass, which he did not do and I had to make a drop. I know it’s a rough time for business and workers but no need to be rude to customers, we are all in this struggling country together and just looking to get some extra cash to make ends meet.
Sadly this is a self service location. I did the bags I carried in and didn’t retrieve the rest from my car. It was incredibly time consuming, the machine wouldn’t stop beeping at me, kept kicking bottles off the belt, not reading bar codes, telling me too many bottles, dinging me if my hand went across the imaginary line, just kept dinging at me. I don’t blame them, it in theory seems like a good idea, but I disliked it so much. We won’t be returning & rather donate our bottles then do that again, sorry.
Love being able to return my bottles and with no doubt I have a accurate count. 1 thing that is always the same is the employees who are in back with the redemption part. Attitude change would be nice. Not like anyone forced them to work there. But besides them I love the place and they have a huge selection of liquor for any kind of event
Website has inaccurate information. This location is entirely self-service. Will not count your bottles for you, will not take pre-counted bottles. Can't say I blame them there, but it would have been nice to know before I drove 30 minutes there that I was going to spend another hour counting bottles. I asked if I could donate my bottles because I really don't care if I get the 10 bucks from them, I just didn't want to throw them out, I was told they're not accepting drops and that there was a dumpster out back if I didn't want them.
Haven't been in the liquor store area, looks all right from outside though. I did get a chance to see the new bottle redemption section. I hate the new self serve system. I personally don't return bottles to handle it myself. After getting instructions on the new setup from the employee there, I grabbed my buckets, walked right out, and went somewhere else. Pulling up to the door was a nightmare too. There were so many holes in the parking lot. You can't drive properly whatsoever without hitting one of those holes. Repaint the parking space lines too.

Fast and convenient service at the redemption area of store and as well as the beverage area / merchandise side... huge selection of Alcahol beverages and other merchandise in store.
Always a pleasure shopping here. They usually have it (whatever it is), and if not, they can often order it. I've ordered through them before and got a good price and quick turn-around time. The staff also is quick with solid recommendations, not just arbitrary shelf-pointing for suggestions. Definitely the go-to spirits place for Bangor.
Beverages and redemption a good place the habe alchohols and weird drinks and foods and they can even take your bottles back to give you money the atmosphere is really good in there plenty of air and lighting very nice well build store i like it alot i got there alot i order my water there galllon jugs of poland spring to take home and boil
