Car took from my own job. horrible customer service who only cares about getting off work on time.

Our vehicle was wrongfully towed, and the experience with this company was unacceptable from start to finish. The car was towed from private premises while we were legitimate customers, and there is video confirmation from an on-site employee proving our presence at the time. Despite this, the vehicle was still taken, causing unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and financial burden. When attempting to address the situation, there was no accountability, assistance, or empathy offered. This situation should never have occurred, and once proof was available, it should have been handled professionally and promptly. I strongly recommend exercising caution when dealing with this company. Situations like this undermine trust and create avoidable hardship for customers.

🚨SCAM ALERT🚨My only son child drove from St Louis Mo. To surprise me for Christmas. He arrrived Christmas Eve. On Saturday morning @ 10:37 as we were leaving to go to the movies his car was gone. We were informed by a neighbor that his car was towed. I contacted Midcity & was told because he didn’t have a parking pass in his car. I informed the lady he doesn’t live here he’s from out of town & only visiting for the holiday. I also told her the leasing office was closed & I don’t have a vehicle so I never needed a pass. Nor was I expecting my son to surprise me for the holiday. None of that mattered! I had to pay $294.98 to get my son car the break down was ridiculous. Impound storage was $32.50/ Gate fee $62.00 (theirs not a working gate in my complex/fuel charge was $21.48 & Private property tow with repositioning was $179. I was in complete shock. Why wasn’t it towed Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? To be towed at 10:37am & arriving to the impound at 11:08a.m on a Saturday morning is insane! What if he was making a delivery, what if he was simply helping someone take groceries inside. Getting answers from these people is to no avail! I’m definitely reporting this to the BBB & anyone else I need to! Yes I spoke with the leasing office on Monday & they also feel this was insane! It’s sad my son get away was coming to an end he left a day early in fear they would tow his vehicle again! Thanks a lot midcity for ruining my holiday weekend with my son!

Woke up and my car was towed from my apartment complex. Pretty sure my kid who loves to touch everything took down my permit. Calling Santa, don’t worry. Anyway the owner was SO SWEET. Trust me, I hated having to spend $230 to get my car back *but* he was kind and went above and beyond for me, helping put my license plate on my car. And just overall, he was really helpful. I NEVER WANT TO GET TOWED AGAIN, but if it’s through them well OK at least I know they will be helpful and super kind.

Absolutely utterly jaw droppingly atrocious, at best. They hooked and towed my car from the Gentilly Walmart parking lot while I stood right there with my young autistic son and Walmart staff holding the groceries for my trunk. We were parked in a grocery pick up spot waiting for my order to be brought to my car. We had been waiting a while, and I wasn't sure if Walmart had received the message we were there. I tried to call the store but the line was busy. My son was getting upset, and I thought maybe they didn't know we were there, so we walked up to the store to check on our order in person. I didn't want to move my car in case Walmart staff came to our spot with the groceries, since I had already entered the spot number in the app. Walmart told me they would be out shortly so we headed back to my car to wait for the groceries. We were only gone a short moment but in that moment our car was already hooked to the tow truck. The truck must have been sitting there waiting for this opportunity, it was so quick. My autistic son got upset because the tow driver refused to stop hooking up my car, even though by then Walmart staff was standing right next to my car with the groceries to load into my trunk. Clearly, we were parked in that spot to receive those groceries and everyone was telling the driver this. My autistic son started to melt down over our car being taken away, and then the tow driver became threatening, telling me I'd better get control of my son, and the situation began to feel unsafe. It was a scary and terribly upsetting experience. And then he drove off with my car and left us standing there with our groceries.

My partner's car was towed from my apartment complex. Whatever, mistakes were made, and they're doing their (albeit deplorable) job. I was told it would cost around $236 to pick up the car. Absolutely ridiculous pricing, but again, what are you going to do? We get there, go to pay, and the price to pick up the car jumps to nearly $300. "Gate fee", they said, which was never mentioned whatsoever.

I would give them negative 2 stars if I could. Terrible customer service. Combative front desk person with no answer. Manager nowhere to be found and cant be contacted. I had vehicle stolen and somehow this company "recovered" it and no one contacted me to even let me know until 4 weeks later by mail. They then tried to charge me for storing my stolen vehicle they found. They claim they checked with the police but didn't know it was stolen despite the fact I reported it and have the paperwork to prove it they still refused to release vehicle until I or the city paid them. At time of review I have been trying to get my vehicle back for a week and the story as to what they need changes every day

I am in the middle of a family death and was in my families apartment for a few hours and I even astronaut Park here just for a few and then I came back an hour later he said yes I can park here and then still towed it

Towing services are terrible. Idk what they do but they seem to just not care that they messing with somebody’s vehicle. Got my car back from them and now something is wrong with my rear suspension and steering. It rattles and shakes and did not drive like that before. If you looking to pay them to tow ur car, you might as well go with three brothers. Now not only I gotta pay them a fortune, now I gotta see a mechanic. It doesn’t take much to be mindful of other peoples property. I should make an insurance claim against them for damaging my car. Only reason I give 2 stars is because the receptionist lady was super helpful and understanding during the process of getting my car back.

Got to give Chris and Kirby 5 stars. We had a few issues after we bought a car from them, and they went over and beyond to get everything right. Nice place to do business with.

They towed our family car for no reason. They gave it back to us uncontested. No compensation was offered. No apologies given. Fortunately, they didn’t damage the vehicle. I get it, mistakes are made, but this was a big one. They could have at least apologized.

This company is operating outside illegal parameters. They present one price ($230) over the phone, then demand another ($330) upon vehicle retrieval. I was assisting a legally blind, disabled individual in inclement weather. The company's practices exploit vulnerable populations. Despite presenting the individual's disability documentation, the company remained focused solely on payment, disregarding the emergency circumstances necessitating the parking violation. Providing my work ID and driver's license to explain who I am and show that I was honest about my situation. This pattern of disregard for extenuating circumstances is consistent across numerous towing incidents. The company demonstrates a complete lack of empathy. In one instance, my brother's vehicle was towed from the same location during a medical emergency, resulting in a tragic outcome due to delayed access to critical care due to the tow of his vehicle. We must prioritize compassion, actively LISTEN to customer explanations, and allow for verification of their claims. Sometimes situations can end good if we are respectful to each other.

I have a video where they are scamming people. They lift your car onto a tow truck and then ask you for cash to get it back. It's eobo. They don't report that money to the company.

Left the Tchoupitoula St Walmart with my $150 of groceries to find my vehicle that was NOT in a handicapped spot or fire lane being TOWED. My crime: Parking in the completely empty "online pickup" area because it was raining. We inconvenienced no one. Was extorted $160 "cash only" by a belligerent driver who would not lower my vehicle from the lift until I handed over the cash. My spouse had to physically block him from just driving off with my vehicle because he wanted to punish me for being "rude". If you want people to be nice to you, choose another line of work, sir. Other shoppers' cars were also being towed away (or had already been towed). Will never shop at a store that tows paying customers. Absolutely wild behavior all around.

This company just scammed us, they charged us $250!!!!! After having left our vehicle at Walgreens for only 45 minutes at Walgreens and we picked up our car at the lot within 45 minutes of them having towed our vehicle. They give you whatever price they think they can get out of you because there is no set fee. I saw some people were charged $140. Why did you charge us $250?! I will be seeking legal action.

Parked in guest parking at my daughter’s apt where I’m always parked in guest. I’ve even seen the towing guys look me dead in my face as they saw my pass and backed away numerous times. Last night for some unfortunate reason, my pass fell off. But was still visible from the floor. They did not care and towed me anyway. Didn’t even want to follow me to the vehicle to see the visible GREEN pass sitting n the car. Absolutely no compassion at all.***response to response*** it was visible it wa jus on the floor. And you all were complete jerks. I hope the hurricane wash ur business completely away.

They get no damn stars from me!!!!!! I had my toddler with me they wouldn’t let me bring him in while we wait , they were not friendly at all! The also didn’t have a damn ATM which you need to pay the fee but at least have one ! My BF had to walk to the gas station to get cash. I understand the rules for improper parking but have some humanity skills.

Customer service is HORRIBLE & They will damage your car! My RUNNING car was towed from an apartment complex and I could not go pick my vehicle up until about 3.5hrs later. Upon arriving at this ‘business,’ I wanted to check my vehicle for damages and they would not let me before I paid… So I paid first & what do you know? There is damage to the front bumper of my car. I asked to speak with the owner & waited for him for about 10 minutes & he never came out until we wanted me to move my car. He was very rude, loud & hostile and threatened to hitch it to the tow truck again and charge me more fees. Aside from physical damage, I also had 4 lights on my dashboard (check engine, Anti braking system, stability control, traction) which were not on prior to the tow and probably due to the car being on during the tow. Once again, I never got to speak with the owner about any of this like I wanted to because his only encounter with me was hostile. Lastly, the employees here have a slave mentality that made me uncomfortable with how they referred to the owner and addressed him.. but if you can avoid, STAY AWAY from here.

This Company is scamming people! They watch you exit your vehicle, then tow you. Additionally, they wait until you come back to your vehicle, and demand you pay $140 for them to release your vehicle. They ride around in Walmart parking lots, after business hours looking for vehicles to tow. Please DO NOT do business with this company. They are ripping people off. I will be sending this information in to Lee Zurick of WDSU for further investigation. He could not provide proof of whatever laws he stated we broke, was rude and totally unprofessional. Don't be his next victim.

I just had to pay $140.00 in CASH ONLY at the Walmart on Bullard to Charles the “owner.” I did park in a restricted area, but towed by a non-contracted business. When asked for documentation, proper receipts, and “company law,” I was met with nothing but rude, dismissive, snarky, and invalidating replies. I got called “crazy,” and all sorts of things for requesting the “law” that he kept reciting. This was a terrible experience and I hope no one uses this business for personal needs ever.

I'm not happy that my car was towed, but it's their job and my fault. They were friendly, courteous, kind people. They charged the battery and kept us informed about what was going on. It was a pleasant experience. Except having to pay for the tow was not bad.

These folks were EXTREMELY HELPFUL!! I explained that it was parked in a residential area, not sure of street names. They didn’t have it, but he gave me info on 3 other private towing companies this gentleman gave me the gift of 5 minutes of his time! These folks are a testament to the character of your Crescent City!

Tommy and his team at Mid City Automotive did an awesome job loading up a truck for us. Tommy was very professional and kind. I loved how he proactively offered to go down and check out the unit without any commitment the day before. They were on time and got the job done in a timely manner. Definitely the fellas to call! Thank you. Carmen H.

Did not have a visitors tag at the apartment complex so I was towed. I do not have a problem with that. What I DO have a problem with, is the tow company damaging my car. I called & politely explained they damaged my car. They told me I needed common sense to climb up under the car & attach clips, that he only touched the tires. Um, yeah.....this was NOT how my car was before they towed it. I was NOT ugly when I called, but for him to tell me I had no common sense and then hang up on me, completely UNPROFESSIONAL. I didn't mind the tow but if I ever have to be towed again, I hope it's NOT with this company. Very rude!!!!!

This place has the ultimate unethical petty hustle. If I could give Zero Stars I would. If you park in the parking lot in McDonald's on North Board St, New Orleans near St. Augustine High School, please be on the lookout for Mid City Automotive and Towing, tow trucks. There are signs are the parking lot about possible boots being put on your vehicles and vehicles being towed if not a McDonald's customer. This company will wait for you to get out of your vehicle watch to see if you go into McDonald's then come in McDonald's and ask if you parked a vehicle (matching your vehicle)...if you don't respond THEY WILL TOW YOUR VEHICLE, if you respond and don't show proof of ownership then THEY WILL TOW YOUR VEHICLE, if you are in the bathroom and don't hear person ask about the vehicle THEY WILL TOW YOUR VEHICLE, if you are deaf and hard of hearing a have no clue if what the person said in McDonald's THEY WILL TOW YOUR VEHICLE. They will give you your vehicle back for a mere $168.29. When I explained to them what happened they said I called there driver a liar. Sir, Brother, I did not call him a liar, I told you what the McDonald's employees said and saw. That your guy was around the area seemingly waiting and watching for people to park and see where they were going. McDonald's employees also mentioned the driver came in to ask yet ignored when someone said it was theirs. The only reason I used this company is that they towed my vehicle from McDonald's. My Wife, a St. Aug Mom, was a customer at McDonald's and did not know they were towing the vehicle.

This restaurant has currently been closed. The parking lot is empty but also has low visibility of towing signs posted on a side gate. Without hesitation my daughter and nephew parks there, both which are new to driving and is clear to see they are younger drivers. I get a phone call from my daughter saying that within two minutes of them being in Subway, they were booted and proceeding to tow their vehicles. The tower claimed he put boots on both cars and removed my nephew’s car to tow it immediately and call his partner for my daughter’s car all within 2 MINUTES. IS THAT REALLY POSSIBLE? HE CLAIMED THAT HE WOULD CHARGE MY DAUGHTER $90 AND MY NEPHEW A BOOT FEE AND TOWING FEE OF $120 on spot in cash. If he had to tow it , it would be $240. DID YOU EXPECT FOR KIDS TO HAVE THAT LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY ON THEM IN CASH? He suggested that they would walk around the corner to the ATM. When they returned back with the money, he proceeded to give them one receipt which would show in the system that he only booted one car and pocketed an extra $90 because he agreed to charge them both $90. YET MY NEPHEW HAD THE ORIGINAL COPY(WHITE) AND MY DAUGHTER HAD THE COPY OF THE ORIGINAL (YELLOW). THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS AND ARE MONEY HUNGRY NO MATTER YOUR AGE RANGE DON’T PARK THERE !!! AND SCREW MID-CITY TOWING FOR SCAMMING KIDS.

Car was towed from parking lot when I had a visible sticker from property in back windshield as was told to me to put by the property. I called the tow company to get my car back he said it will cost 168 because sticker was in back not in front, I told him I have an email from the property that states put sticker in back window and he did not want to hear it, said he would need to hear it from the property, the property got my car back but the car should not have been towed at all due to I have a sticker, this company is ignorant and don’t own up to their mistakes not even an apology just rudeness. Do not use this company they are horrible.
