Just took a large load of cans here for recycling. This was my first experience using Cohen and I will never go there again. Workers were not helpful and there is no way to check for the weight of the cans. They say it is weighed by the conveyer. I know I had over 180 pounds of cans put I received a ticket of 84 pounds. The problem is once they have loaded your cans you can not dispute the weight. If you are a lawyer please attach your contact information, I’d love to be involved with the investigation of the weighing of materials at this facility in Lexington KY.

Well I was gonna take my copper here that I've saved from work. But after reading the reviews. I don't think I will.

33 lbs of metal is only 5 dollars wasn't even worth the gas

The experience wasn't bad but the price they pay for scrap is a joke compared to other scrap yards I'll never bring stuff here again

They got it going on!! They were pretty organized with it and there was someone at every stop to let us know where to go.

Always slow. Have to wait for train cars back and forth. Always feel like I'm getting shorted. Here and there i meet an employee who trys their best to serve you.Definitely not run like Bakers used to be.

I was pretty upset with my experience and I'm still upset thinking about it. this is now the second time that after weighing the vehicle loaded with the scrap metal and being given the thumbs up from the person operating the scale, we go unload and proceed to weigh the unloaded vehicle. Once given the thumbs up again I pull to the front to go in and then get told they didn't know what my weight was before I unloaded. the tiny pickup truck with a 6 ft bed and only an 1/8 of what was loaded in the vans 16ft long 9 ft tall cargo bed (I know cause I loaded both vehicles with the metal) they asked of I knew what I was. No I was watching for you to tell me when to pull off the scale. Paid me for 200lbs = $12.00 for vans load. the pickup truck load was slightly over 200lbs it made $13.00. I know I had at least a 1300lbs or more on the van load. But they just give ya a thumbs up got your weight and let you unload to not actually have your weight and get ya out of your metal at least in 2 of my experiences now disappointing to say the least

They were helpful. A little slower than usual but still good.

I've spent 30 minutes trying to call but no one answers. It gives you a call menu but when you push zero for the operator it gives you a busy signal and hangs up. If you try dispatch you think you're getting somewhere but then it comes on and says all dispatch calls go straight to voicemail so leave a message. I don't have time to wait for a call back. Looks like a good company and I really wanted to use them but looking for somewhere else now.

I have used Cohen for many years, they are great, Rich handled my account before he left and was fantastic, always kept me up to date on pricing, Jeremy and Jessica are such a pleasure to work with always pleasant and positive.

before they moved it was the best around. been ripped twice since, so I'm looking for a better place now.

First time here they where nice did there job hour to get loaded no problems in my dry van just muddy one way another way out like a horse shoe

We take stuff there all the time and it is really fun to take my son there but they are always nice and reasonable

I took an old steel desk and some mixed lead to Cohen on Old Frankfort Pike and made an easy $20. It was my first time here and one scale was not in use. I mistakenly went through and missed the second scale. The gentleman who wrote me up, Jeremy aka Stumpy, was very kind and directed me back to the outbound scale then skipped me to the front of the line on my return trip. The wait was a little longer than I expected due to the inbound scale being out of service. Otherwise it was a pleasant experience and a nice break from the typical routine each day. I intend to bring my sons to see first hand this part of our economy and the process for end-of-life metals, appliances and scrap. Very cool :D

They basically stole my stuff from me. I've been taking horseshoes to scrap yards for 10 years and usually get around $0.40 per pound. They just gave me $0.04 per pound on 100 lbs..... $4.00. I'll never go back

Best scrap yard around. There prices are a little bit lower than other's but there scale is not rigged up like most scrap yards.

Absolutely the worst scrap dealer in KY. Prices aren’t even close to competitive, people aren’t friendly or knowledgeable, and overall just a poor place of business.

Great group of folks and so polite and helpful to first timers. They take old appliances. It's not much but it is better than paying someone to haul it off for you. And keep in mind that you are recycling anyway. So win win. Big fan.

I called the office and got the recording which tells you they close at 12:30 on Saturday. Anybody could call now and hear this recording. I got online and the hours were posted as closing at 12. I drove an hour one way, got there at 11:55 And the gates were closed and they wouldn't let us in. Ridiculous

I have dealt with them for several years now. Their pricing is fair. Their process is efficient. My only small complaint is that I feel that the road out to the Cashier and exit puts my tires at risk of puncture from debris.

So unorganized. The hours on the gate says open at 730 but no one shows up til 745.

Well I have been going to bakers many years now and even though metal in general is down bakers was giving all the shaft in regards to what they pay and what they call items you bring in for years I was paid high grade on plastic timer motors from washers and dryers but now I can't even get high grade on the copper and aluminum motors all changed when wise recycling closed but now there is another scrapyard opened up and bakers is going to have to fight to keep the customers they been shafting

Fast service, best pricing in the area and honest family owned business. We scrap locally and wouldn't go anywhere else!

Took some insulated copper wire. It was my first time there and they were very helpful. It was quick and easy. I got more money than I was expecting.

I took some scrap from my garage up to Baker’s. I had called and got a price when I got there the scale said they only had one flat price for the non-ferrous I had. I explained that I didn’t think that was correct. The scale said I could try to talk to someone about it. I went to the pay window got paid out then called back to Baker’s to talk to the non-ferrous department head. Which I did and he quoted me a price much different than I got paid. I explained the situation to him and he apologized and paid me the difference plus .10 extra on the pound for the trouble. He also told me that if I am ever selling and disagree just ask to speak with someone and they will work it out with me. Not a perfect experience, but they made it right and was very nice about it.
