Brought my vehicle again to J&K Automotive for an oil change and to figure out why I'm hearing road noise. They discovered slight cupping along the edge of one of my front tires on a tire that should be replaced this summer, rotated it to the back and my road noise issue is gone! J&k Auto will forever be my go-to repair shop.
Usually take my vehicles to Bob Brown. Had to find someone to replace a headlight. The recommendations from some Urbandale residents sent me to J&K Auto. Nice, polite and helpful guys - very good customer service. This will definately be my new goto shop for future car needs. Thanks so much guys!!!!
Great experience at J&K! They fixed what needed to be fixed and didn't try to railroad me with a bunch of unnecessary work. Was recommended by my neighbor for the same reason. Pricing was very reasonable for what I had done, highly recommend these guys!
10/14/25 - Once again I needed some repair work. They replaced my water pump and serpentine belt. They called with the diagnose and quoted me the repair cost. They completed the work in a very timely manner. We trust this establishment and the folks that work here! Recommend them 100%.
They always provide prompt and courteous service. My last experience was my car broke down and I called them. They towed my car, had it diagnosed and repaired the same day. They are truly amazing!
J&K are phenomenal. They are the best repair shop I have found in the whole Des Moines metro area. I have been going to them for seven years. Just recently, they solved a starting problem that had other mechanics stumped for weeks. You can tell how well they are trusted in the community by how many classic cars are in their lot. The folks there definitely know their trade.
Well John, if you are the one who did my oil change thanks for getting it done so fast since I had my car there since 7:30 this morning. My first time there.
Brought my car here to get the air conditioning fixed and an oil change. Staff was friendly, communicated well, and fixed it in a timely manner. They told me I needed new tires which I knew I did. I asked them to order a specific brand of tire which they did, and the tires were replaced in a timely manner.
The price for everything was reasonable. Based on my experience, J & K Automotive will be my preferred shop for repairs and maintenance on all my family's vehicles.
10/ 11/2024 Time for auto maintenance again. Back to J&K Automotive. They always get me in quickly. Get the service completed and get the van back to me in record time. The work is always done at a fair price. I'll never go anywhere else.
1/5/2024 Once again, J&K, took care of my van. The engine light came on, which was worrisome. They took it in, fixed it quickly and had it back to me in the same day. I rely on them for all things related to my van. I never worry that I will be taken advantage of or over-charged.
I have gone to J&K for the last 6 years and have recommended their services to several friends. They are friendly and competent . They always get me in in a timely manner. They are really the "hometown mechanics" I remember and their costs are very reasonable.

100,000 service plus problems with HVAC system. Expected the service to be much more, but it wasn't. If you are looking for a local automotive repair business with competent, friendly staff, THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS. I'm a senior and my budget is tight..they will never take advantage. Recommend them highly.

Once again excellent service. Preparing for travel and I can always count in the staff to make sure my vehicle is roadworthy which gives me great peace of mind. Continue to recommend them highly.
Many years ago I bought a car from a friend. She recommended J&K as they had always done the service on her car. So off to J&k i went. They still service my car and still give excellent service..honest, friendly and efficient!
Teenagers admittedly old beater car would not start. Initial diagnosis was starter replacement. We agree to the repair, which would have hurt her budget pretty significantly. We received a call the next day with the update that it is really just a cable that requires replacement. This cut the repair cost significant. They could have easily replaced the starter. We would have never been the wiser. The honesty and integrity with which these wonderful mechanics run the shop is amazing. Fast forward a few weeks and our son's car had an issue. Of course our first stop I was J&K and the fix was prompt and reasonably priced. You have now three new customers, If our cars need repair and when both kids vehicles need repair, J&K will be at the top of our speed dial and if anybody we know asks for a recommendation it will be J&K Automotive. 12/10 highly recommend!!!!!

Our mechanic of over 23 years had recently closed and it’s hard to find someone you trust. I had heard of j and k from social media posts as well as just driving by it daily. We’ve had oil changes done and tires replaced here and have been pleased. Glad to have found a place that we can hopefully do business with for many more years to come.
I connected with J & K Automotive on-line. I asked a couple of questions that were promptly answered. I sat an appointment and it was promptly confirmed. The men that checked my car in the next day were personable and professional. I appreciate the attention given to my car and will definitely bring my car back as needed.
Ed&Rick literally saved my a$$ from spending 1000s of dollars in hotel fees after an auto accident on I 35 north.. il save the details, but these guys did an excellent job on my car. They got it in fast, did the work at a very good price and they showed great concern for my situation! I AM NOT a fake reviewer, nor friend or family of this place ! I was traveling from Arizona to Minneapolis,, just a nightmare:( and il be very clear on this,,I'm VERY VERY picky on who works on my car and my expectations are nothing short of excellence!! Great first time experience with J & K. I needed help late in the afternoon and guys stuck around to check in my car that evening. They did great work and got it back to me in 24 hours. Definitely will be back.
J&K Automotive came highly recommended and it was right on. They were welcoming and professional. Beyond that, as a single woman, I felt comfortable that I was not being taken advantage of and will definitely take my car back there for further service.
I always come away impressed by how professional the entire staff at J & K Automotive treats, not only me, but especially my rather mature 1992 vehicle.
Nothing lasts forever but the mechanics at J & K work wonders at prolonging a vehicle which has served me well over the years.

Rick and his team are first rate. They have been working on our family cars for years. Fair prices, quick and always do a great job. We had several times where I was out of town and my wife's car needed quick fixing; they arranged a tow and got on it the same day. They found that a manufacturer's service letter addressed the problem and it was a cheap fix. They have never tried to up charge or sell me on things I don't need. I recommend them to anyone. 5 stars aren't enough for these guys!
