I've been to this store many times in the past several years and they've always been great. Honest, respectful service. I've had car batteries replaced in 2 different vehicles in the past few weeks. They were able to replace both while I waited even though one was rather difficult due to battery placement. Polite, professional service from this business. Definitely recommend.
Amazing service! shout out to Adam, Michael, and Jose they were very helpful after my car battery died, they tested my battery, bad battery, found what battery was needed, and installed it once purchased.
I was very impressed with the helpful staff and service provided when I needed a new battery on a very cold day. Professional, gave a great run down of my options and helped to install. I have never had an issue with Autozone.
Stopped in 12/23/25 to get a price on a low beam headlight and Josue went above and beyond. He checked it first on my car and then he changed it for this Senior Lady! AutoZone has helped me always with wiper changes, my ac and now headlights! Great customer service! Thank you Urbandale AutoZone
I called the AutoZone today, in need of a battery, Eric answered my call and invited me to stop in now as he was avaliable. I arrived and he was ready for me. Eric quickly and expertly found the correct battery, put on his gloves and braved sub zero temps to install my new battery! I am so very thankful for his assistance!
Went in there to buy some cleaner solution for my vehicle. The cashier was very rude and unpleasant to me while I was trying to be friendly. Kind of a bad employee in terms of customer service. Wknt be returning to this location
This is an overdue review of the above and beyond awesome service provided by this store’s staff to me in a predicament. After a drive down from Minnesota in December 2024, my pickup brake lines failed and a repair shop in Urbandale fixed them for $2100. The shop closed on a Friday evening right after I drove away with the truck. Unfortunately the truck engine could barely run by the time I drove a few miles to where we were staying. All shops were closed until Monday and we had no idea what had happened to the truck. Butit wasn’t drivable for any distance so we were stuck and distressed .
Autozone was around a mile away so we were able to get the truck there for a computer assessment. There quick assessment identified a bad spark plug and possible bad coil. Given our situation we asked if they could install them. It was very cool outside and dark but one fellow leaped into action and did the job. He discovered that the ceramic around the spark plug had been broken and pieces had to be picked out - which he did. The problem repair shop had damaged the plug when they removed it to try and pitch in total an extra $3000 in repairs which I had declined. Some of broken ceramic had fallen into the cylinder cavity - which thankfully blew out soon after the new plug was in.
Bottom line - Autozone gave first class assistance for no charge to clean up a mess from a shop that was paid several thousand.
My car battery started acting up over the weekend. Alan L at the front counter helped me look at the different options and I picked out which one I wanted. Both Alan and his store Manager Eric helped and installed the battery for me which was more than I was expecting but I am super grateful for!
Autozone has provided us the best service for all of our car needs. I’ve needed batteries for my remote start and they were so helpful to find the correct ones and replace it. They also checked my car battery too for free and diagnosed our check engine lights numerous times. We’ve also had issues with our spark plugs and wire sets, and the store manager Eric and his team were able to let us know exactly was needed to be replaced and where the problem was. Eric has also helped us with purchasing and pouring in No Smoke oil and oil for our cars and has always given us the best recommendations for what to do if there is a problem. Whatever your car needs are, Eric and his team will take care of you and give you the help you need.
Autozone has been such a great help with any car problems I’ve experienced. I’ve had trouble earlier this year with my camshaft position sensor and Autozone was able to diagnose the problem with their free check engine light checks. Later, I had problems with my car burning through oil fast and the store manager Eric looked at my car and recommended products to solve the problem. He’s very knowledgeable about cars and has recommendations for whatever the problem may be. I will continue to recommend Eric and this Autozone to anyone I know for their car needs!
Lemme tell you about Josue! (I hope I spelled his name correctly) I came in needing air filters and blinker bulbs. The place was a bit busy but Josue was very attentive. He was juggling about 4 customers all at once and handled it. He's a really nice guy, very helpful and very polite!
Josue was so knowledgeable, professional, and helpful! I heard another older employee say “I’m trying to stay invisible” even though there were 4 separate people including us that needed help and Josue was the only one helping.. he should definitely be a manager! Thank you so much for helping us change the battery in my dad’s car!
My right turn single wasn't working. I tried to get the bulb out but it was stuck, so I pulled into auto zone here, and asked the young man Cole if he could get the bulb out. He eagerly came outside to help. Unfortunately he could not get it out either. His manager Eric came out to help. A piece got lost, but they didn't give up. They must have spent over an hour helping me find the lost piece, and then replaced the bulb. We had our dog with us, so the manager (Eric) gave her water. They were polite, professional and just fantastic. I highly recommend this auto zone and I am so thankfull to Eric and Cole.
They should train their staff, at the very least, to know what they are selling. As a customer, when you ask for help, they are worse than someone who knows nothing—they don’t help at all! The guy who assisted me at the store knew nothing and had no intention of helping. Terrible service! They should provide training before putting people in customer service.

The guy took 10 mins trying to do the battery test...and then just said we'll, we can go back inside". I closed my hood and left. I do not recommend this AutoZone!
People are usually nice there; not always the most knowledgeable. They use to higher real mechanics some years back that could actually assist you due to their knowledge. I see a lot of younger woman lately; that only know how to look up parts and have know real mechanical aptitude.
Because of prices; it is my first stop for parts. As long as I contact a mechanic or vehicle’s dealership and have the correct part #.
Raymond was AMAZING, we needed 1,000 different parts and were quite annoying/needy. He was so patient and cool as a dam cucumber! We got everything we need and will be going here from now on🫡
We got there me my husband got there we got lights for our truck and my husband had a hard time get them in So he weant in got this young man to help him with his lights as we where geting ready to go our truck wouldnt start so my husband had to go go back and get the same young man to jump start us He told us our battery was dead. and he told us the price Thank u Cooper to u and. your employes for make our night We got serves at this place if you need any help.look for Cooper great young man or any employe there really nice people Thank u again Tony and Cat
Marshall helped me out today and what I can say is there’s not a lot of people that bring the type of energy into a work environment like Marshall does. It’s a cloudy and rainy Monday and Marshall helped pick out wipers for me and also installed them. I tried to give him a tip for not only helping but just being a positive individual that I can appreciate and he said that he isn’t allowed to. That’s the only thing that I would change!
Really appreciate the help this store provides. Installing headlights, wipers, batteries, etc. - I have not been disappointed and have been coming to this store for quite a while. Also, they provide great service with battery testing and check engine light.
Update 3/18/24:Needed a new battery today. In and out in 15 mins. Chris was a rock-star.
If anyone is looking for a top-notch sales person, Bryce S. at AutoZone is your number one pick! I’ve been in the field of business for over 20 years and no one has gotten my information, but Bryce. He is very pleasant and he knows his stuff.
The staff was very helpful. When I brought in the starter off of my truck, they immediately hooked it up for free on their tester and confirmed it was no good. The store was well stocked. They even had the exact, refurbished starter (with a one year warranty) that I required right there on hand. As an autozone member, I was able to qualify for 15% off, so it was a very reasonable price. I installed it the next day, and it's been working great for over a week now. I recommend this store to any shade tree mechanic.
This is a great AutoZone and the staff are very helpful. I have experienced awesome customer service from the staff. The other day I noticed a headlight was out and so I stopped by the store to pick up a replacement bulb. When I looked under the hood of my car I saw no way to access the bulbs, I looked in the Owners Manual but it was confusing. I went inside the store to get the bulb and I asked for help and without hesitation I had help. First from one member, then second and finally a new employee joined in and my headlight bulb was replaced! What I haven't told you is that all this was done 15 minutes before closing time! This is only one of the stories I have about the awesome service at the AutoZone on Douglas Ave in Urbandale.
