The last four dealings that I've had with Shrout's were poorly. I had purchased 4 used tire for my grandson, within 3 days of them putting them on one went flat, the car had been driving badly, I thought it needed aligned. The flat tire was aired up to get to work, when he got off work it was flat again. I had someone go fill it up with a compressorfor him to get home. Every morning it was flat, he had no spare time for over a week to take it off for them to make it right as they always say. He previously had his car there to have the power steering fixed months before that, within 3 days it went out again. He was told to bring it in they'd make it right he had no faith in them due to his past experiences with them, he took it to a well known mechanic in Gas City he fixed it in hours he's had no problem with it ever since. The used tire set I purchased from shrout's constantly lost air, I went back to them 4 times then gave up on them, I just kept airing them up. Within the last 3 months my car barely ran so I had it towed there for repair, 5 days later they hadn't figured out what was wrong. I went after it by by having it hooked to another car. I called my mechanic had him come see what he thought, he plugged the code instrument, my catalytic converters needed replaced he fixed it within 24 hrs. I will never return to Shrout's. I called today about the bad tire I purchased, he instantly cut me off as I was trying to talk to him about ittold me to bring it in, I wanted to discuss it more but he kept cutting me off then hung up. He was very rude. I'll no longer recommend him anymore.
Called about having a car towed from an assigned space in a private lot. Was told to wait for parade traffic to clear. Waited at least another half an hour, my fiance then called and was told the same. Fiancé told them a certain street was open and clear to get to the lot. They still told him the same. Never even showed up. Obviously didn’t care. Had to park elsewhere and carry our toddler to the building.
I waited outside for 45 minutes. For a company whom was just in the same exact parade, that I was told to wait for it’s traffic to clear up, to not even do their job. Ridiculous. I will be calling any and every other tow service in town when needed now. Thanks for nothing.
Trout's towing has been very good to me they are working on my 2002 GMC envoy I couldn't get it running couldn't figure it out but they got it fixed and gave me a good price so Johnny shrout thank you for fixing my envoy and giving me a good price My next car breaks down I'll be back to you for business thank you
haven't even came to get my vehicle and I have called 3 days in a row and I called 20 minutes before they closed today and told me they would call when they were on the way and no one called or even showed up
This is the owner of the black suburban. I am Laney and Caden’s babysitter. Ashley was at work all day. I would NOT loan my vehicle that had MY INFANTS car seat in it to her especially when it’s my only vehicle to drive her two children and my two when I take or pick up CADEN AND MY SON to school. DO NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS AND DRAG MY VEHICLE INTO THIS. I’M DOING MY JOB. THANK YOU!

Left my car there all day for them to figure out the problem. Spent 150 and it wasn't the problem at all. I finally took it to my step-dad and he found the problem under FIVE MINUTES and issue is fixed. Insane how these shops don't know what their doing half the time and charge for what they THINK is wrong.
This place charged me 314 dollars for the towing service and to keep my car in their impound lot for less than a day. while we were inside paying they moved our truck and trailer we were using to haul my car without telling or telling us or asking us if it was okay to move the truck. $265 for a tow service is outrageous. I will never use Shrouts again
I'm inclined to leave a less than favorable review here, mostly because of their reputation. But I have to honestly say they took care of us. They were efficient in taking care of our needs. They were friendly and they were courteous. Their prices were rather high, but what they did was necessary. It was just a little confusing that the phone number that came up when I googled them was a personal cell phone and I had to call another number to get to the shop.
New to the town and our alternator went out, they not only gave my hubby a ride to our stranded car when the parts from their cars where no good they got us a great deal on an new one delivered to the tow yard.
Shrout's has always done me right. Just took my car in and he showed me there was a hose that needed replaced and didn't charge me anything. Been to him many times in the past and it was always a more-than-fair price and good work. Highly recommended!
Price was extremely different from what was quoted with no phone call. Extremely rude. Told us it would be done within a day and a half if we left it overnight. Called to check on it, and nothing was done to it the 1st day at all. Then they call us to say it's done, and we had to wait for them to test drive it still upon arrival. Rude, inconvenient, takes too long, and false quotes. Never again.
This place had me drive a hour away .. after I told them if it wasn’t guaranteed then don’t allow me to come soo I get here and now I’m approved and have to have soo much money down … and now my down payment is half of my pre approval. And yes I got approved but If I have to put down half the pre approval I can just buy a car flat out. Bad business and indirect honesty …. Waisted my time had to call off work … and had to find a ride and still in the same situation before I came … do not go there .! And make sure they tell you the facts about your down payment and all
I give one star rating for it simply rude and half fast job to employees that don’t know nothing about cars. I will never go here again. Do not recommend also perfume was stolen from my glove department as well as $100 in 20s that were also in that same glove department That is just dumb how you just let your employees steal from right under your nose was very very rude and argumentative not business. Ladies behind the counter were very rude and ignored me for no apparent reason just didn’t care and I hate that because I am a woman of color I was treated differently from the white folks in the Building , highly disgusted and do not trust. Do not go back to would never go back to sorry very bad extremely terrible poor management and I really hope no one ever goes here for auto repairs or tires or if you’re out of luck and you get towed just be careful of what you’re getting yourself into.
They were quick but the employee that worked on my vehicle lied to me. I asked if my tires were good he said yes but their not. I had a blow out as soon as I left the shop. Tread peeled away.
Don't go here. Tried to ask a simple question, and all that the three people in there kept telling me to do was sign the ticket. Then I (new to this situation) asked what my options were again told to sign the paper. When asking the question again, an old man told me to either sign the paper or don't we don't care. Then I asked the same question again in a different way and was yelled at. Definitely don't send your car there if it's in a wreck. And with that, I watched some of his people working on cars... whew. Don't just take my word for it. I'm some prior enlisted idiot that doesn't know anything, but if I were you, I'd take it somewhere... more helpful and courteous.
I was out of town and had 2 tires blow out. Shrouts got me towed and fixed up quickly and at a great price! I'm so thankful for their help. Great family-owned business!
Called to ask a few questions about a replacement part I had available for my vehicle, and ascertain if Shrout's would be interested in purchasing the part. Mr. Shrout himself answered the phone and was very helpful and honest with the information given. Despite not hearing what I expected about the part, Mr. Shrout was even nice enough to suggest another local business that would be more accommodating to the expected value of the part. Great help!
My first encounter was 5 star. I have left the review below because it was appropriate and accurate. My second encounter was the complete opposite. I as a customer have never been treated as poorly as I was treated by the owner. I won't go into detail. Let me just say it was shocking. All employees were great. Service received was top notch. But the treatment during interaction with the owner was enough to lose my future business and amend my previous 5-star rating. The worst I have been treated ever.
Original review...Took vehicle for exhaust repair. On time polite employee took my key and my request of what to repair. Price was never discussed. Called to inform them wife would be picking it up. Was told approx time of completion, and cost of repair while on phone. Received a quality repair, in a timely manner, at a fair price, by polite employees. I have been without a repair shop that I've had a positive experience with in quite some time that I would refer others to. (I do most of my own work) I realize one visit is a little premature to make an accurate assessment of a business. But so far, best repair shop I know of.
10/10 would be an ideal place to break into vehicles on the lot. Security system consists of a couple poorly mounted cameras and an owner who lives across the road and watches from his porch. You could easily walk on and take what suits you as they aren't bothered to lock vehicles in their unfenced lot. Frankly, the business deserves it because the owner is a rude, highly emotional and unprofessional man and it could be chalked up to bad karma.
This is, hands down, the most honest mechanic I have ever had service my vehicles. No BS; no trying to sell me things I don't need -- and if it doesn't need fixed, they don't try to charge me to fix it. I take all my vehicles there -- I own three and my children each have one, so 5 vehicles. great service every time!
The owner, John, was so....... Rude!!!! I was located an HR away. I had to go get a transmission in a car that needed brakes, (he even mentioned that when I was there the 1st time) I had to go back a second time because he tried to sell me the wrong transmission and..... Without a warranty!!! Thank...... GOODNESS..... I had someone with me that was good with cars because he was basically arguing with the guy until he finally , irritatedly, checked the pin line up and he was wrong, but before he said argumentatively that All data don't lie.. So... Yeah.. Among other things I just don't want to write a book..?? Bottom line... I'd stay far away.. He doesn't deserve your business..
Will never use them again! They were recommended to me when my car needed towed. They never took my number to contact me when my car was done so had to keep calling to ask. When on the phone they were rude. Went to pick it up and again rude, kept calling me girl instead of my name, didn't tell me where my car was on their lot, had to stand around once i found it in their shop til someone noticed me becauae they had my car blocked in and the lady at the desk did nothing to help me, then get home and realize money was stolen out of it as well.
Shrouts has always been a grade A tire shop for me which they are way much more than a tire shop. Their used tires are exceptional and only $10. They do just about all car repairs and have been locally owned for more than 10 years. The owner mistress trout is a man's man, a working man, and a hell of a mechanic. I suggest the next time you need your car worked on call them and you will not be let down by quality or price!

Called with a flat tire, got quick friendly and helpful over the phone advice and all questions answered. Showed up and my van was instantly started on and was back in the road within 30mins. ( Only because of course my van had odd size tires) Highly recommend taking your vehicle(s) here!
