I paid a shop $500 to tell me I needed my transmission replaced but these guys looked at it and said it’s most likely a different problem altogether. Thankful for the work they put into my car and the money they’ve saved me. 10/10 would recommend this shop

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful people here. They were able to diagnose and figure out a much cheaper solution to my issues than just replacing parts that didn't need it. I highly recommend these guys for any transmission work.

Could not ask for better service! They were able to get me in quickly. They listened to my issue and didn't make me feel incompetent. They did a thorough evaluation of my car and gave me great insight on what was going on, and how to move forward. Great service is rare; Mike and Jack are the exception!

The people at Quality Certified Transmission are top notch. We had the second and third gear solenoids go out on our 2013 Suburban and needed the whole transmission rebuilt. The job was done quickly and with a reasonable price tag. We had an issue pop up almost a year later and after a quick phone call, we were able to get the car back in for a check-up with no fuss. Customer service and quality work are their forte.

I was traveling in the Bloomington area over the holiday weekend when our suv experienced hard shifting. We were scheduled to leave on Sunday. The team understood the situation I was in and found a way to get the car scheduled so that they could investigate and diagnose any potential issues. They were able to fully inspect the car and give me reasonable assurance that the car would make it another 500 miles home. Great experience. Great people and service I would highly recommend them!

These guys are awesome! Our H3 Hummers transmission was repaired well within the timeframe given and the estimate was spot on. My wife called them with questions after the repair and the tech she spoke with was friendly, respectful, and empathetic to her concerns. Well Done Guys!!!! You’ve earned a customer for life. Sharing so others know...the first thing I did before I ever even called was to check the reviews on Google maps. They had awesome reviews. A friend referred me because they tuned a 2016 Tahoe transmission for him. I called and explained that I had a 2019 Silverado and asked if they could tune the 8L90E transmission to reduce or eliminate torque converter slip, because I had the normal TC converter shudder due to slippage that everyone online complains about in these trucks. I also informed Steve that Vedders trans in Spencer had just changed the fluid to the newly recommended stuff less than 3k miles ago. There was even a class action lawsuit won against GM for this problem. Anyways, Steve told me it would cost about $300 and stated they could do it and run a full diagnostic first so they knew how everything was working, but I would have to schedule a time to drop it off. Pretty inconvenient as it was my only vehicle, but I made the arrangements to try to save my transmission and I dropped it off Sunday evening 2/16/25 for an appointment on Monday 2/17. I called him Monday and Steve said they were busy, so I called again on Tuesday and he said they'd get it in. He also recommended a fluid change, which I assured him I did not need with only 3k miles on the current fluid. They took it for a test drive and said one tech was able to recreate the issue, but one wasn't. He then informed me that the TCM was locked and that they were unable to tune it. At that point, he said they could add a slip additive that might help a little, but I'd still need to pay them the $145 diagnostic fee before I picked it up. I asked him what I knew now that I didn't know before I dropped the truck off that warranted me paying $145 diagnostic fee--he didn't have a great answer. By the time I picked up the truck (which wasn't done until 2/20, the 3rd day after my appointment), I owed close to $190 with taxes and all I got was no answers, and maybe a little bit of snake oil added. Pretty disappointed! I have since found another shop over near Worthington who says he can tune it, but how can a "reputable" transmission shop in Bloomington not work on a vehicle that is 6, almost 7 model years old when that is the nature of their business!? I've since heard other people say this isn't a real transmission shop, they just pull out your transmission and slap a rebuilt one in and that's the extent of what they do. Hopefully this review will help make others aware so they don't waste their time and money here like I did. Update: I did not decline any repair. Steve said it was the TCM was locked and you all couldn't tune it, period, end of sentence. Why would I have declined it when I brought it in for exactly that? I understand you may be lying to save face on the review, but that's sad! I would've been thrilled to pay the original quoted cost of $300 to have it tuned and properly fixed and to avoid your bogus $145 diagnostic fee. Secondly, your shop never called me while trying to replicate the problem at all--zero communication. I had expected they would and I could've told them to drive it at 70 mph and let it downshift, that would've shown the problem instantly as it does it 100% of the time. Again, poor comms on your end and sad at how you're trying to save face by not accepting responsibility for what Steve told me as a customer. Update 3/12: presumably after reading my review, the shop refunded my charges for this visit, as they should've done when I asked the first time for a "break" from Steve since they were unable to perform the tuning like they told me they could. I appreciated this gesture and raised my review a star. Still, a lot of time wasted here for both parties.

Our 2012 Caravan transmission unfortunately quit on us as alot of them do to my understanding. I call QC and had it towed to them on a tuesday. Mike was cordial and within a the next day it was diagnosed as needing a full rebuild due to a converter coming apart and damaging the internals. I got a call the next monday that our van was ready to pickup. It has been doing just fine since we got it back and been out of town a few times. 2 months later and all is well. Thanks to the whole crew at QC!

2015 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins with the horrible 68rfe. They were able to get my truck in and out really fast. Pricing was pretty fair for the work done. I have since put 4000 miles on new transmission and it shifts like butter. I have no issues with this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody.

Well the dreaded day came, the old trusty Sonoma's 27yr old 4l60e started slipping. Most would've given up, but I love that old truck, and the engine ran like a top, so I decided to bite the bullet, and rebuild. While I might keep it running great, with a myriad of cheapo aftermarket parts, a transmission is never a place to skimp, so I chose Quality Certified, for its ratings, and reviews, and ignored "cheaper" options, though they were comparable. Took a couple of weeks, but I needed that to scape the cash together anyways, so no prob, She shifts like butter now, so worth it. The transmission position switch gave up the ghost, from the rebuild, (no light indicating in drive), but they ordered one immediately, and replaced it the next week, free of charge. Don't even entertain a used transmission, have it rebuilt by a professional. 2yr 20k warranty. If it's rebuilt wrong, it'll be apparent before 20k, so that helps with peace of mind, that a junkyard transmission can't provide.

I recently had my 2012 F150 transmission serviced here. After explaining the problem over the phone, they were able to tell me what was likely causing the issue. I dropped the truck off Tuesday morning, they called later that day with the diagnosis (which was what they expected based on our initial conversation). The repairs were performed, and I picked up the truck Thursday afternoon. Great service and communication throughout the process. I would highly recommend QCT to anybody needing transmission repair!

Came into Quality Certified Transmission to have the carrier bearing and u-joints checked along with the torque converter. I had noticed the transmission was shifting erratically. The shop was very thorough during their inspection and diagnostics. They were able to confirm the mechanical issues with the torque converter, but the inspection found additional issues with the transmission itself. They allowed me to opt of the level of repairs I wanted and could afford. They took my vehicle in and completed all repairs on time as promised. This was possible since they have rebuilt transmissions in stock and ready for installation (even with the upgraded components I wanted). Their price was reasonable and in a time when nobody seems to stand behind their work, they offer a two year guarantee.

Mike took my dodge truck in with an electrical demon and he got it figured out and treated me more than fair. I am VERY happy with the customer service and work I received. I would recommend these honest hard working people to anyone. Having quality in their name is very fitting. Can’t thank them enough.

When the transmission went out on my service truck I was in a hurry to get it repaired. I make a living with my service truck and downtime is costly. Since I live in Spencer I started looking for repair shops in Spencer. No one could help me quickly, but did provide referrals to other shops that they felt would provide good service. Quality Certified Transmission was a shop on the list. When I called they were very polite, knowledgeable, and professional and they provided a solution for rebuilding my transmission that would get my truck back to work as quickly as possible. They did what they said and I had my service truck back on the road as expected. Months later my truck developed an intermittent issue. Intermittent issues are the most challenging when they do not fail when a technician is looking at it, and that is exactly what happened. I took the truck back to them 3 times with a complaint about the transmission’s behavior; all three times it seemed fine when they evaluated it. On the forth complaint they kept the truck for more extensive testing, they found the issue. They completely rebuilt the transmission at no additional charge. Their performance was more than I had expected based on my experiences with other shops. While it was frustrating to be without my service truck again I felt like QC Transmission made my needs a priority and resolved the issues as promptly as reasonably possible. Overall I count my experience with Quality Certified Transmission as a great experience. Every time I called them they were polite and professional. They always treated me with respect and were serious about being the solution to my transmission problem. I had never before seen anyone do more to take care of a customer. It felt like being cared for by a good friend. I have been to several different mechanics and auto repair shops over the years. Most have left me disappointed in the end and I am not certain if I would use their services again. QC Transmission was not like the rest, they have earned my respect and my business. If I have a transmission problem I know that QC Transmission is the solution. I greatly appreciate the service and professionalism that they have provided me. Thank you.

Had an issue with defective part but these guys went above and beyond, got new parts and got my Explorer all fixed up. Now it's running better than ever! Highly recommend these guys if your having any transmission issues. I greatly appreciate the work the did for me!

I had a diagnosis from a local shop across town to replace my transmission. I was referred by a friend to take my car to Mike at Quality Transmission for a second opinion. Mike thoroughly reviewed the car and found that the other shop misdiagnosed the repair. He found the real problem, fixed it quickly, and saved me the cost of new (unnecessary) transmission. The repair cost was reasonable, and Mike provided excellent customer service explaining everything in detail. I highly recommend this shop!

Transmission went out and my mechanic recommended QCT. They replaced the transmission and had me back up and running in less than a week! Offered a warranty for two years, even covers out of town, should that happen. Owner was super nice and left me feeling confident in their product and services.

I'm giving this shop a 5 star simply from the conversation I had with the owner. Mike was a sharp guy and definitely knew what he was talking about with this particular car's transmission. He helped do some general troubleshooting to confirm the issue and gave me some ball park estimates too. If I do have the work done, it'll be done at this shop.

Having a transmission go out is never a good experience, but QC transmission definitely made the process go as smooth as possible. Wait times all around the area were 4-6 weeks (just to get in) and they picked up my car in 2 days and had my car finished in just under 3 weeks! They kept me informed in the status of my car, and cost of parts. They definitely stand by their work and I’m very thankful for everything they did for me! Thank you Mike and team!

My truck lost first gear and my mechanic couldn’t fix it so I called these guys. When most places were a month behind, these fellas got me in inside of a week. They put up with my near-daily checking on the truck with far more patience than I probably deserved and were at all times gracious and informative. :) When they found a solution they called and let me know what was going on and asked if I wanted the repairs-which of course I said yes. I picked the truck up today and it’s doing great. I will definitely look to the guys at Quality Certified Transmission first for any transmission repairs I need. They’re very nice, down to earth people. Just the kind of “business card to keep in your wallet” should you need them. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Well done guys- and thank you!

Very knowledgeable honest And punctual, dependable. been there a couple times plan on going back for servicing repairs etc. On My last repair i was given multiple opions. Mike went above and beyond to make sure the truck would make it all the way to the West Coast of Oregon and back with no issues, as a commercial driver downtime is no income, With a complete transmission overhaul wore out u joint and pinion seal repair With ordering parts They had me up & going in a reasonable time frame so I could get back on the road thanks guys! I called and scheduled an appointment to have my pickup checked out because there was a whine coming from the vehicle while driving. It seemed to correspond to the engine rpms and the transmission. The tech wanted to drive it and since I lived fairly close, he drove me home and dropped me off. His initial thought was the transmission pump was going out. Said they'd get back to me later that day. I received a call later that afternoon from the tech who said he was bringing the truck back to my house. Turns out the issue was a low fluid level in the power steering and the transmission was in good working order. They added power steering fluid and checked for obvious leaks ( found none ) and said that should resolve the issue (which it did). I took the tech back to the shop and talked to Mike, the owner, to pay and talk about the repair. Note: This shop only works on Transmissions. The repair cost was certainly less than what it should have been for the diagnostics and power steering fluid. This place has certainly earned my trust, good honest people. If you have a transmission problem, this is the place to take it.

My transmission was totally shot but Mike and his team did a fantastic job helping me get it replaced. He found a used transmission with ~50k miles on it and got it all installed in less than a week at a cheaper price than other folks around were offering. The shop itself is a bit hard to find but Mike was super helpful in every way and I'd absolutely recommend anyone who needs transmission help going to QCT.

Mike and his team are dependable and very knowledgeable at what they do.
