He gives you straight answers about what is wrong, and finds the best solutions to fix problems. We have brought multiple vehicles to his shop for repairs and every experience has been the best!
Hands down the best shop I've ever been to. The employees were kind and got my car in fast to get back on the road and didn't charge me an arm and leg. They also offered a ride if I didn't have one from the shop. I was also shown what broke on my car. Thank you again so much. Don't walk run and book your appointment here you won't regret it!

Absolutely AMAZING customer service! Friendly, helpful, and incredibly thorough. My sons were driving back to college when the battery system light came on, and they had to pull off the road and leave the car overnight since it was Sunday.
First thing Monday morning, we called and spoke with Mason, who gladly said he’d take a look and hook it up to the diagnostic machine. It turned out to be a dysfunctional light and not an actual battery issue. Mason was completely honest, explained everything clearly, and didn’t even charge us.
In a situation that could have been stressful (and expensive), they were kind, reassuring, and trustworthy. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough. Thank you, Mason, for going above and beyond!
Original Review- I ran into a vehicle issue while on a road trip. Called Mason first thing Monday morning and they had me rolling again within hours! Their customer service is excellent. The mechanic who serviced my car explained and showed me everything in detail (which coincided with the engine code I got from O’Reilly). They are personable, knowledgeable, and very affordable. I highly recommend Mason Smith if you find yourself in a vehicle pickle. 😉 Edit- Turns out my issue ran deeper than we thought. I was 2 miles down the road when my engine light came back on. Mason fit me right back in for a deeper diagnostic, staying late to help me asap. I needed a new turbo. Mason happily spoke to my mechanic in my home state so I would feel comfortable. When the new turbo arrived, his mechanic again stayed late to get it fixed and get me safely back on the road. I can’t say enough about the quality of service at Mason Smith Auto Repair.
Such a WONDERFUL car repair shop in Rochelle, Il!!! If you are new to the area, as I am, this should be your number 1 go to for any of your car repairs! I met Mason on the day I had scheduled my appointment for and was actually on the schedule that I would be there and why. Didn't only meet Mason but his Son, Grandparents, wife and one of family dogs. Mason to me is old school and knows what it means to treat his customers how he wants to be treated. This respectful, polite not quite 30 year old does quality work at more than reasonable rates!
He talks to you in a language/terminology you can understand, along with taking you into the shop to explain your car's issues in detail. I can say this from experience as I was the office manager for ex-husband in his car repair shop. If you know me at all I never usually say anything positive about my ex, though I do know how I learned a lot about cars and truly like treated respectfully, as a almost 70 year old women. I always seem to get shops that treat women as not knowing anything about cars, not here!
I have tried another shop here in Rochell, Il and will NEVER go there again. The owner actually told me how he had put notes in the computer that I was hard to please and demanding. NO I paid you over $1600.00 to fix my car and didn't think it would take 4 attempts, let alone with his attitude that it's okay or normal to not even attempt to get it right the first time.

Mason and his guys do great work…..anytime I’ve needed work done on my wrecker he is always quick to get me in and out knowing I use my trucks to make a living.
Mason Smith Auto Repair helped me greatly when I was passing through Rochelle Illinois and had a wheel bearing go out on my trailer. He sent bubba out to help me cut a bearing race off the axle so we could get the new bearings on and get me down the road. It was a very small job that I needed help with but bubba dropped what he was doing and came out there to help me right away, and they didn't even charge me anything for the work and the service call. That's what you call a great service offered by a great service shop! D. Landis.
On our way home,We left Rockford, headed south and overheated.
Stopped at this shop and we were told that he couldn't get us in today, he was booked solid and had 2 employees out today. He took us in anyway. Filled coolant, pressure test and we couldn't find a problem. He thought maybe an air pocket caused overheating. Whatever he did, we didn't have any more problems with the temperature.
And, he did it for no charge!

I HIGHLY recommend Mason Smith Auto Repair for any vehicle needs. I took my Jeep there for an oil change and tire rotation. Had EXCELLENT customer service and the price was lower than I normally would pay at Kunes.
Let me elaborate on the top quality customer service. I work in Dixon and my Jeep wouldn't start. Had to leave it there over night. The next day Mason found out what the problem was, picked up a new battery for me and drove to Dixon to my work and replaced it for me, his shop was not even open. Definitely more than a 5 star rating in my book.
Wonderful people. Glad I called them first when breaking down near their town. Ran into a bad alternator and they took care of me, very knowledgeable. Turned into an all day job with a broken bolt but reasonably priced, honest, and even gave me a ride to get some food. If I ever break down near their town again, I'll be back.
The best customer service I think I've ever had .Today's service was for my son's truck but after the way everything happened I think I found my new mechanic definitely recommend!
