My radiator broke. Unfamiliar with area, Towed to the shop. At check -in, noticed sign on wall *no credit cards* I told the mechanic I can pay for the repairs only by cc. He agreed , I agreed to repair truck in their facility. Received quote. Final bill higher than quote. Asked why. Owner, very rude guy, said I mus.. Told him I would pay but under protest. He became very upset and refused to accept cc. He knew I couldn't get cash and that I had no other way to pay. He knew I had to stay in hotel over weekend. Didn't care. This experience showed why they have sign on wall and why many bad reviews. They first tell a stranded customer they accept cc regardless of the sign, so the customer agrees to repair, but. once customer rais issue with final bill hey refuse to accept cc. Customer helpless because they say that sign is on wall but because mechanic had orally agree customer has no proof of mechanic's verbal agreement which would constitute a collateral contract.. This is the way they trick people who need repairs done but don't know the area. They are making sure that, even though you disagree with the final bill, you must pay. As soon as you raise concern about the bill. they will refuse to accept your cc. 4 months after they replaced radiator, it started to leak, had to be replaced. Called owner. He told me that there's only 3 month shop warranty.. I then asked about manufacturer's warranty. The owner refused to file warranty claim with the manufacturer on my behalf. I asked him for the info about manufacturer', he refused. His refusal to give me info is legally contentious as, in reality, his refusal to file a claim with manufacturer, under the manufacturer's warranty, implied that his shop's 3 month warranty overrides or voids the manufacturer warranty. I don't think so!!! I am out of Illinois and decided not to resort to courts but I learned a lesson and, based on it, want to warn others. I urge you to call repair shops in area. Once I got to know how this facility works, I found out that there are actually 5 or 6 facilities in the vicinity. Google and call. If I had time to search and call, I would have paid with my cc as all them unconditionally accept them as long as you fill out a cc verification form. I would also pay, for the radiator and its replacement, 1600 instead of 5300. As I later found out, they lied about cost of radiator. Secretary called me with quote , she said that radiator was 1595. I asked if it was OCM radiator from tdealership. She said it was aftermarket one because an OCM would cost me much more. When radiator cracked, I called Freightliner dealer and found out original OCM radiator was 1512. So it's cheaper than aftermarket radiator they installed. I found out, this radiator costs between 600-1000. Having delt with the shop, I suggest you: 1. ask if they will accept cc payment unconditionally, 2. have them note that in writing, 3. take picture of the form. 4. when you are given quote tell them to give you half an hour to decide and call the dealership and shops around to find out the cost of parts. 5. once you do that, it's most likely you will not call them back. When it comes to warranty, it depends what you want to repair and what you have to pay for it. If it's over 2000, I would rather pay even a bit more, but choose a place that offers one year parts and labor warranty and are not much more expensive than this facility and accept cc. You can always negotiate with them and if they don't agree to some reasonable terms, I would not deal with them. I must however say that, based on my interaction with owner, chances of any negotiation are next to nothing. So, in my case, not only did I pay for aftermarket radiator more than I would have paid for original one at dealership, I also paid for its replacement after only four months because owner refused to file a warranty claim on my behalf. So I paid 3 times as much as I would have at a repair shop located close by, which would have given me one year parts warranty and hassle free cc acceptance. Be careful.

If it was possible to leave a Zero Star, then that’s what these guys would of gotten. And Unfortunately I didn’t check the reviews before dealing with these guys. I had my Freightliner towed in the manager said it’s $450 an hour iam about 4.6 miles from the shop. So I figured an hour should be enough time. He then tells me since they have to drop the shaft it may take two hours. This was around 1:35PM. At 3:15 I called to see how much longer is this going to take they said they were coming around. They dropped me off at the hotel super 8 about half mile down the street at 5:10, and said they got to the shop at 5:15. After all of that they decided I should be charge for 4 hours. SMH this is just for the towing. At 8:00 next day I called to let them know let me know when the mechanic starts on the truck and as soon as he finds out what wrong. Mechanic Brian calls me at 10:10AM to ask what the problem was with my truck suddenly dying and not communicating with the computer. I explained this to him. At 12:40 Brian calls me back to say they found that a 5amp fuse was blown. Making the ACM unable to communicate with the trans and ignition etc. and they don’t know why it happened but this is what they found and the truck runs after changing the fuse. Brian asked if I want them to continue to check to see what caused the fuse to blow. I said no I’ll take it like that. Manager calls me afterwards to tell me the bill is $3100. 4 hours for towing and 5 hours for shop work. When from the time Brian called me to the time he replaced the fuse was 2 and a half hours. Even if they charge me 3 and a half hours giving the time to put the panels back together and drive shaft I’d understand. But 5 hours to find a blown fuse and 4 hours to tow 4.6 miles is beyond predatory. Look if you have some money you want to burn go to these guys otherwise you’re better off anywhere else.

They definitely over charge not very professional at all. Definitely recommend calling someone else. Over 2,700 for 58 mile tow

2200.00$$ to replace 5 hinges and rehang a door. Less than a hours work and maybe 60.00$$ for parts.. Unreal to think someone could abuse customers that much.

BEWARE …they are charging 300$ per hour and 600$ in total to drive 1/2 mile in same town Elk Grove Village ,I’ll and just plug the air line on air bag , so the trailer can make it to their shop , and the replacement & labor for trailer air bag will be about 800$ ?? Please people before you thing to go there …call and ask for the HWY robbery charges and I hope they will do better for you. But I definitely will spread the words on every side I know of.

DO NOT USE THiS PLACE. They are thieves and scammers. Truck broke down 2 miles from the shop, they came out charged 750 for just coming out, then couldn’t fix it on-site because of construction zone, they towed the truck and charged $950 . The issue was a air valve that takes 10 min to fix and $150 part. They charged TOTAL $2997.60 that’s a joke . SCaM SCAM SCAm. I will do my best to SHUT this place down , my lawyers will get on this ASAP

That's why you have bad reviews. I called the shop to come replace the starter on my truck which is 0.5 miles away, and the mechanic told me $300 per hour min 3 hours. plus other costs. We are talking about a job that is a max 45-60 min job, they want to charge over $1000. Because of such workshops and people this Bussines is what it is, shame on you!!!

Does great work. The only shop I've found that does not make you wait 2-4 before they can get you in the door. They have been in the area a long time and it's because they do the job right the first time. Highly recommend!!

Wow I seen they charged other people 152 per hour and they charged me 250 per hour. They told my bill was going to be about $10 thousand and ended up charging $20 thousand. Price is crazy. Nice guys but super expensive. They broke me from business. Still trying to get back up on my feet.

Rude and greedy people! They billed USD$2200 for a simple used tire and a airbag! Unbelievable do not come to these people unless you wanna get ripped off
Dec 07, 2021 -
Shop owner has no respect for the drivers . I was coming there to drop the trailer my speed was little high . He came out of his shop and yelled at me , threats me and racially disrespect me here some of his photos. Better to avoid this place and old guy

Do not use this company!!! The only way to describe them is “thieves!” They quoted 6 hours for a job that books for 6 but usually takes 4. They billed us for 15.7!!! They also charged a lot for parts that they didn’t even use. $20 for loctite on 4 bolts and $90 for antifreeze even those the work order said they reused our antifreeze. On top of that, after having to pay to even get truck back, the truck does not run after they worked on it. They “road tested” and said all was good. This shop is horrible!!!! Run! Fast!!!

Minimum $250 (pricey) just for them to check you out, but they do a thorough job. Mechanic Brian seemed honest. Nice pretty girl in accounting, Great drivers lounge, Whole place is efficient and seems highly professional, but they'll omit prices of the suggested work they'll inform you of, and they'll definitely suggest a lot of work. I don't recommend this place unless you're pulling over 5g a week.

🛑Shop price is: $152p/h🛑 ⛔With a 2hr MINIMUM⛔ 🔴The sign in the picture says they are open until midnight. THAT IS NOT CORRECT.‼️ They close at 6pm. And stop taking in work before 5pm. Which is totally understandable.🔴 I called the shop at 4pm for a coolant leak on the right side of the MBE4000. It's a line that feeds the bunker heater core. By the time I made it to the shop it was 4:35pm. Ron whom I think is in charge was kind enough to assess the repair and let me know I would be taken care of first think in the morning. He got me a place to park my trailer. And was kind enough to wake me up when he made it into the shop. This review was written in the evening of the 29th. In the morning once repairs are completed, I'll update with cost and satisfaction.

Great friendly people! However, nightmare of nightmares began after they invoiced me and informed me that they do not accept credit cards. How can a business operate without accepting credit cards in today’s day and age?!? BEWARE!!!!! NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED!!! CASH OR WITE TRANSFER ONLY. This was a complete disaster. Almost had to board a flight to come and pay my bill (cash) just to rescue my driver and load before a long weekend.

Charges way to much for towing. Makes sure they always his their hour or hours mark before heading back to the shop, especially when it is only 3-5 mile. They will only use parts that they think is acceptable and recommend. The labor cost is also ridiculous. Nothing but price gouging. If they don't work on your equipment, then they charge $300 a day until you take it to another shop and are very rude about it.The owner himself is very rude and won't deal with you very well. The office women only do what he ( the owner)tells them they can do and what to say. Even alot of his staff says he is difficult to work with. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

on 1/30/19 We had a trailer with the pins on the tandem not wanting to hold due to being frozen over, I call Schmitt's Truck Repair and they said it would be a few hours but they would be able to work on our trailer that same day. We sent our driver 80 miles to their shop and they told her to wait in her truck. She waited for a few hours and asked them again, she was told to continue to wait and be patient. She waited for the rest of the day until they came out and told her to go to a parking lot and wait. She did and they never came back to her. The next morning she went inside and was told that they would get to her when they could and that she needs to be patient. I then called the shop to figure out what was going on and was then told the same thing, they would get to her when they could. They could not tell me when they would start on our driver that has been there since the day before. Unless you have plenty of time to waste I recommend finding anywhere else for repairs

Zero stars would be the best option for this shop. They charges us $10,000 for a $2500 repair. Complete crooks! Do NOT use this shop unless you enjoy slow poor overly priced service with a bad attitude.

Parked my truck here for an year. All spaces are so tight, i got my trailer damaged by the Company that used park their trailers next mine. Complained to the dotard ( the owner ), all he told me was that their lease was coming to an end at the end of the month and there was nothing that could be done. Look at it your lease when you sign it - You won't be able te get even minor repairs done at the lot. I was trying to straighten my mirror once and he came over to remind me NOT to do anything there. Not to mention that I didn't get my deposit of $300 back for no reason. STAY AWAY from the old man or you will be dealing with someone who suffers from senile at its worst.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON!!!! Too bad you cant give negative stars! Absolutely despicable. Charged me over $1,200.00 for a tow and to fix a wire. The tow alone was $700!!! Our truck was broke down literally 8 minutes away from their shop, and my truck isn't even a semi. Just a diesel truck. Plus they only had to repair a small section of wire to the fuse box. They originally agreed to accept a credit card, but when I complained about the amount they got butt hurt and decided to refuse the card and only accept cash. So not only do they rip you off, they do their best to inconvenience you as well.

I parked my truck there for couple of years and when I left he didn't give me my deposit back with no reason. Other drivers say that he is not returning deposits at all to anyone. He jump start my friend and charge him over $400. On my new parking I payed $60 for jump start. Other drivers are complaining that prices are extremely high.

Buyer beware ! Ask for an estimate before any work is done. We had a driver snag a trailer door and broke 5 hinges, sent the trailer here to have the door re-hung. I got charged 932.45 !! I called and complained, got nowhere. Labor was 502.00 and parts were 391.31. They charged me 45.00 per door hinge when these can be purchased for less than 12.00, got charged for a 50.00 Kit that can't be explained. Very Poor Experience !! Buyer beware !!!!

Poor service with the intention of ripping you off. I will never go there again . they replaced my fuel tank and damaged the skirt cover and said it came in like that. I took photos when I arrived before serviced. Total attitude when I presented the pics. Jacked up the price when they knew ins. Was paying for repairs . Scam artists

See what all these reviews have in common?? It's no coincidence they all share the same hatred of this place. I run a shop here as well and one of our trailers needed flooring. Like others have said their labor rate is thru the damn roof and the highest I've ever seen as well. Stories/diagnoses change & its going to be 2-3x's what they tell you. Plan on it. These guys will gouge the hell out of you so please find somewhere else to take your repairs. Its a shame too because we go to IL all the time and its hard finding a reputable shop thats reasonable. Cross this place off your list. Nothing but scumbags ripping off your hard earned dollars.

Bad Bad Bad! I would not recommend this place to anyone. Had a turbo go out in a truck. Miraculously one of there tow trucks happened to be going by. Was quoted at a 4500-5000 dollar repair. bill ended up being at 8300. Wont accept credit card payments over 5000, wont split the bill, can only pay in limited ways. That tells me they have bad credit and a bad standing with there financial institution. DONT USE THEM! THEY ARE CROOKS!
