2 hours waiting for an oil change! This is insane! Really bad services! I got my appointment at 3pm! The staff are completely ineffective and inefficient, constantly making excuses and speaking ill of me. I'm constantly on the lookout for them. The service is terrible, the staff is very poorly trained, and I don't believe these are the values, services, or purpose of this company, especially when for $15 more elsewhere you can get a service in no more than 15 minutes. Only two cars! And just they putted the oil! $83 and other brand I can pay $15 more and 10min Im done! Really bad experience here

I got a flat and needed replacement tire ASAP. Called and was quoted a higher priced tire based on stock. When we arrived the rep found a less expensive tire in stock for us. He also asked about our military discount which we had forgot to mention!

I had a very frustrating experience with customer service, specifically with a representative named Jeff. While I was asking questions about the service, he hung up the phone on me without any explanation. I tried calling back multiple times from the same number and he refused to answer. Out of curiosity, I called from a different number, and suddenly he picked up right away. This clearly shows intentional avoidance and extremely unprofessional behavior. This is unacceptable customer service. Hanging up on customers and screening calls instead of helping is disrespectful and reflects very poorly on the company. I would not recommend dealing with this customer service unless serious improvements are made.

So grateful to the guys at Pep Boys! We had a bit of an emergency where we were driving from out of town and almost got a flat tire. We spotted Pep Boys and turned in. They immediately fit us in and did anything they could to help us. We left with a fixed tire and very happy!

My first time leaving a Google review for any car maintenance, but with the amazing service and communication provided from Mike and the team I had to make sure they got their recognition. Throughout the process of servicing my fleet vehicle Mike was amazing at following up and keeping me in the loop during the entire process. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to service their car.

I am extremely upset and disappointed with my most recent visit to Pep Boys. I came in with my wife for a simple service and I made it very clear to the employees assisting me who were Jose (Manager) and Jackson (Technician) that I am legally blind. After completing the maintenance, they returned and told me, word for word, that my front brake pads were “non-existent” and that I urgently needed new pads and rotors on both front wheels. I had just been at the dealership 2 weeks prior, and their inspection report stated that all my brakes were in good condition. When I mentioned this, Jose and Jackson continued to insist that everything needed to be replaced and pushed to do the repair that same day. I declined and went straight back to the dealership for a re-inspection. They remeasured everything and confirmed again that my brakes are completely fine. So Jose and Jackson were not being honest and attempted to take advantage of my disability. This experience was not only upsetting, but extremely unethical and unacceptable. Pep Boys should not allow employees to treat customers especially vulnerable ones in this manner.

Jose and the garage team are amazing. We are heading out on a long trip and we wanted to get the car up to speed - it sure is! We got a tune up, fluids changed, tires rotated, etc and the car is running great. Like brand new. Thank you guys!

I went there to repair my puncture tire and they patch it and fixed it and loved the service and customer service experience. Reasonable price and great service. They try to fix your issues rather than pushing you to buy the new inventory. I liked their service. So if your refer you replacement- go for it. They value you and your money.

My car had died and was not turning on whatsoever, so I had it towed to Pep Boys. Two months prior I had bought a battery from Autozone, so I assumed it would be a starter issue causing the car to not turn on. Pep Boys did their inspection, discovered it was the battery and handled getting a replacement battery under warranty from the Autozone next door and installing it on their own. As a young woman with limited car knowledge, I felt like they were looking out for me as the customer! I had follow-up questions about other things they found in the inspection, and they were patient and thorough in explaining how to gauge the problem and what to look out for. Overall, they were kind, trustworthy, and did a quality job!

Bought a used car and it needed a little work. Brought it in for Brakes and other stuff. The service manager came back said i have plenty of brake life left. The saved me hundreds of dollars so I purchased 4 new tires, brake flush, radiator flush, oil change and wiper swap. They had the car ready and on time. I am thoroughly satisfed with the work they performed and at 90$ and oil change I will be back for that when the time comes. I would change the oil myself but rather someone else.

I came here recently for four new premium tires and an alignment. The staff were friendly, the prices were fair for the work, and they got everything done in just a couple of hours, which I appreciated. That said, the attention to detail was lacking. After paying, I noticed they had added about $150 in tire warranties that were never discussed or approved — something I had to go back in and have removed. Then when I checked the new tires, I realized one of them was nearly 2½ years old (from May 2023) while the other three were 2025s. They said they didn’t have the right one in stock to replace the older one and asked me to come back a few days later to swap it out when they restocked. So I went back to them a few days later, and they swapped out the old one for the new one relatively quickly. But unfortunately the new tire was very under inflated, which set off my tire pressure sensor, and I had to fix and recalibrate it myself. Overall, the team is polite and the pricing is reasonable, but I left feeling like I had to double-check their work at every step. For something as important (and expensive) as new tires, that was disappointing.

Jeff truly saved is a lot of money and was honest with all the services I needed for my vehicle. I generally appreciate him taking the time personally to take pictures of the vehicle to show me exactly what was going on. I felt comfortable and I always come to this Pep Boys if I need service for my vehicle. Jose and Harry had amazing customer service and assisted me at the Jeff was gone for the day.

Honestly, my worst experience with anything auto related. First time using this Pep Boys for replacing my tires and brakes. The next day brakes are squeaking so bad to the point where I had other people telling me “you really need to get your brakes changed”… (I JUST DID) Anyway, took it back the following day Pep Boys says “we don’t hear anything”, no help at all, didn’t seem to want to help. Took it back a couple weeks later because every time I make a stop my brakes are still screaming at me. They tell me to bring it in at a specific time, I do. Then they tell me it will take an hour, so I go grab a bite to eat to kill the time. Two hours later, I finally call the store to get an update (because they sure aren’t reaching out to me) and I get told “there’s no one here to look at your car, everyone left for the day, it’ll be ready tomorrow” Every encountered I have had here has been met with an annoyed attitude, like I’m an inconvenience for bothering them. If you are deciding on going here, I recommend do not.

The cost of the tires and alignment were a little overpriced. But I was already there so I went ahead and had them do the work. I was misled in their ad it said free mounting anyone else like myself would assume that also means balancing as it is part of the mounting process but I was charged for that and it left a bitter taste in my mouth I feel it was a little underhanded or it would have said free mounting does not include balancing.

Was out running errands when my battery decided it was only going to last one more start before going out. I went to a couple shops who couldn’t help me on the spot but when I called Pep Boys, they were happy to help even though they were busy. They moved even moved us up in the queue when a tech had a few free minutes while waiting for parts. They even brought my young daughter a snack as we were waiting in the wait room. Really appreciate these guys and would bring my car here for anything I need in the future.

I had such a great experience at Pep Boys! I went to another shop before coming here, and they were clearly trying to overcharge and scam me. I decided to come to Pep Boys instead, and I’m so glad I did. Mike gave me the best customer service he was so kind, honest and professional. The team here is trustworthy and genuinely cares about helping their customers, not just making a sale. I’ll definitely be coming back here for all my future services. The best!

Ant say enough good about this place- had a nail in my tire was told by one place I would need a new tire. Came back to Pepe boys - they looked at it & it was repairable. They could’ve said the same but instead they saved me a whole bunch of money. In & out!! Great customer service and thank you Mike!!

I had been going to Pep Boys in Lutz since 2017. Until lately, my experience with them was adequate. That has changed in the last several months. My major complaint is with the purchase of tires. I bought 4 new 75,000 mile 16” Falken tires in December 2024 at a reasonable price relative to the competition. In March 2025 one tire got several outer tire bubbles. I was told that because I did not purchase the warranty I would need to purchase another tire which I did. In early September, I needed to replace another of the Falken tires because of a nail. Which I did t my cost. Later in September another tire got bubbles. I replaced that tire at my cost and replaced another one that was worn. That’s 8 new and replaced tires in 9 months. Well over $1,700 with no recourse for defective tires. I went very early this morning because the passenger side tire/wheel is making a noise. I didn’t have an appointment. Larry, the new manager told me I had to leave the car because they were busy. I used my abundant charm to lobby for more immediate service. Larry wasn’t having it. I get it. But, instead of humoring me, he proceeded to tell me that the other customers he already had in the queue had been customers for two decades. What did I want him to do? Put me in front of them. He walked away from me which offended me greatly. Larry had been recently assigned to the Lutz store. He had worked there a while back. Instead of deescalating my concern he escalated it. I called him rude and he called me rude right back. I was referring to him walking away from me like he had other customers to attend to. Larry did not handle me or my situation well at all and I am being generous when I say that. I called corporate to complain. Not about Larry, but more importantly about my tires. They took my information and said that someone from corporate will call me back. If I were you, shop for better service when you shop for your tires. Pep Boys might be a more affordable price but heaven help you when something goes wrong with your tires. My 8 years of loyal patronage to Pep Boys Lutz ends today. We can thank Larry for that last nail in the coffin.

Came in on a Wednesday evening at 4:30pm and the guys had us fixed up with new alternator and belt within 2 hours. Special thanks to Jose! Yes sometimes you pay a little more at pep boys but what other auto repair shop in the area is open and working until 8pm. No delays no worries. Fast service, quality work!

Update as of 9/24 - corporate contacted me saying they want to make it right. Sent me back to the same store but new Manager. He had a different mechanic look at it. Was told its the ECU and they werent sure why the other parts were replaced but they can see they were. Sorry about that. Replacing the correct part is another $1400 but we'll only charge you half. Come back when you have money. Admitting they charged $2500 for repairs that werent needed and wants to charge more to fix again. This place is about getting as much money from you as they can and smiling while they do it. Please find somewhere else to get your car fixed, anywhere ! Taking more money from you is how they make up for doing false repairs. Please at least get other reputable estimates! Brought my car in for a diagnostic because the wrench light was coming on and it ran rough. I was told it because of the catalytic converter, O2 sensor and also the fuel fill neck. I was told replacing those 3 things would fix it, but it will cost $2,770. He said it would take half a day, but called a day later saying parts never came and they would get it done the next day. Day 3 I was told to come and pick up the car before closing. I was given the keys and drove 4 miles home. The next morning same wrench light came on, plus the engine light and it was acting the same as before it was brought in. I brought it back the next day and was told that they weren't sure what was fixed and to come back the next day so they can look and the mechanic that worked on it would be in. Came back and was told maybe it's the O2 sensor, he said they didn't do it. I said it's on the bill and was told they were trying to save me money but it was on the bill. Spent the next 6 hours with them trying to fix it again. The mechanic said he doesn't know what's wrong, they were going to charge me another almost $400 for more work and at the end of all this, I was told they don't know what's wrong. Could be 2 really expensive things, but they can't do it sorry. Didn't charge the extra almost $400 and gave me back the keys saying sorry, can't fix it. It would have been nice to hear that in the first place instead of taking almost $2,500 saying it was fixed, then turning around and saying I guess we didn't fix it and can't. Thanks for taking $2,500 from me and giving it back to me with it having the same problem as when I brought it in. While I was waiting they were going to charge another elderly veteran $60 to put on windshield wipers. I told him go to the parts store and they put them on for free. I am also a 59 yr old veteran and wish someone would have stopped me from going here. If you're bringing your vehicle here, always get another estimate or 2 from any other places and bring a lot of money if you go here, you'll need it. Also line up a tow truck, your vehicle very well not be repaired after you pay and you may need it towed somewhere else.

Screw in my son's tire on a Sunday and we needed it repaired asap so he could make it to school on Monday morning. Made an appointment (thank goodness) for 4:30pm and the team at Pep Boys stayed late to take care of his tire. It was a simple plug/patch job but it still had to get done and they took care of it for him. I was traveling on business and not in town to help him with it so I am extremely appreciative of how Pep Boys handled the situation with him. Thank you!!!

I needed to get a tire patched decent price front desk. People was good. I went to go and have a cigarette outside. Yes, I was a little too close to the door manager came up. He wasn’t really friendly was more rude about moving back which I understood moving away from the Door but also demand me to go back inside because his employees don’t like people watching them I’m sorry I thought we were in America. It’s my vehicle if I wanna stay outside and watch them fix it that’s too bad for them. I felt aggravated because it sounded like he was treating me like one of his employees I would’ve moved back and not to make a big deal about it. If he just says, please move back away from the doors but demanding me to go back inside. I’m sorry he’s not my father. It’s open to the public. Yes, it’s a private company but public goes in there. I’m allowed to stay outside if I want and to see what I want just one advice for that manager treat people with respect. Yes I got a little aggravated, but he lost business. I needed an AC compressor eventually on my truck and he just lost on that. I do not recommend people to go to the shop the store manager with gray hair and a beard not got nice guy. He will treat you rudely, especially if you are outside and watching people who have possession of your vehicle

I was very disappointed with my experience buying new tires at this location. First, I was told that if I dropped my car off early it would be done in 2 hours so I was there at 8am. I didn’t get my car back until after 3:30pm - 7.5 hours after I dropped off. The second issue was the workmanship. As seen in these photos, they didn’t bother to clean up after the installation. No one should have their vehicle returned to them looking worse than when it was dropped off but I just wanted to get on with my day and left. However, upon further inspection when I got home, I found that 3 out of 4 of my brand new tires were missing caps, so I immediately went straight back to the store. They initially tried to give me the cheap, flimsy, plastic caps that we all know don’t last very long but when I brought it to their attention they miraculously found the 3 metal caps that matched the one already on my car. Did they ultimately resolve the issue? Yes, but it shouldn’t have taken a second trip AND an additional complaint to get to that point. I won’t be returning.

Excellent Service and knowledgeable staff! I purchased a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires for my 2018 Mercedes AMG GLS43 and I couldn’t be happier! John was a great help getting the exact tires I needed for all-weather driving. Matt did a great job making sure my special requests were taken care of in a timely manner! The staff took great care of my SUV, I appreciate everyone’s efforts greatly! Great Teamwork!

Like Brian Unrein's review, I had the same issue with my wheels getting scratched all to heck. Unlike Brian, I didn't call and try to get them to fix the damage. There should not have been any damage and, once one wheel was scratched the work should have stopped so the workers could fix whatever was causing the issue. I should have been notified. Are there any decent tire shops in the Tampa area?

Brought in my ram 1500 to have the tires replaced. Somehow they managed to equally scratch all 4 of my rims while trying to fit my new rires on. I made them aware of this once i got home and noticed the scratches. I had to go in 2 seperate times for the “correct person” to look at my wheels. Their first response was that they didnt do it until i applied a little more pressure and they finally admit that it was them. Next, the manager tells me that he will have this repaired for me at no cost. I would follow up 3 seperate times, multiple texts and phone calls. Long story short no more replies from the manager, no attempt to fix the problem. If you have aftermarket wheels and want to keep them scratch free, I strongly advise you to stay away.

Needed an oil change and after a fantastic experience several months ago with another one of our cars, I decided to return to the Pep Boys off 54 on Catfish Lake Road. The manager, Steven, helped me and just like my previous experience, he provided me with all the options and prices. I made my choice on the service and I was in and out in hardly any time at all. In addition to the great service, there waiting area is very clean and comfortable, which is a plus. I highly recommend them if you need a good, honest automotive maintenance/ repair business!
