A year ago I purchased a new car from McGee Toyota in Putnam and the experience was excellent. The process was simple — essentially “sign and drive.” The sales representative handled everything smoothly without the typical back-and-forth with managers, and the entire transaction was quick and easy.
Because of that positive experience, I assumed that reaching out a year later to purchase a used vehicle would be just as straightforward. Unfortunately, that’s where things went downhill.
Without getting into every small detail, the dealership still seems very stuck in the old-school way of selling cars — limited transparency, reluctance to provide clear numbers, and an apparent strategy of trying to get the customer physically into the dealership to spend hours negotiating price, trade-in value, and other details.
That approach may have worked years ago, but it’s not something I’m willing to go through today — especially when the dealership is about an hour drive for me.
I was very upfront about this from the beginning. As a returning customer with a paid-off 2025 Toyota to trade in, all I asked was that the process remain simple and convenient — similar to my previous “sign and drive” purchase experience.
Unfortunately, that request was essentially met with a “no.” The representative I was dealing with, Tom, even commented “hate to lose a customer.” What made the situation even more surprising is that the dealership already had my phone number and email on file, yet there was absolutely no follow-up from a sales manager afterward, which was disappointing.
The entire process around buying a used car and discussing a trade-in felt unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming.
For comparison, I reached out to Land Rover Norwood simply to see how another dealership handled the process. As soon as I provided them with the details of my 2025 trade-in, they clearly recognized I was a serious buyer. Within about 20 minutes I had every piece of information I needed — clear numbers, transparency, and a straightforward process. That’s exactly how a modern car buying experience should work.
Ironically, the vehicle we test drove there was the exact same RAV4 that McGee had listed — same mileage and actually priced $1,000 less — and it was also located only about 20 minutes from my house. Despite that, I still tried to give McGee Toyota another opportunity at my business because I was a returning customer.
Unfortunately, once again the response was simply “we will beat that.” Beat what exactly? By $1? All I was asking for was full transparency and clear numbers, and that seemed to be a struggle.
In the end, I chose to move forward with Carvana. The process was incredibly simple, transparent, and hassle-free. My wife’s Honda Passport will be picked up on Wednesday.
I would have genuinely preferred to give my repeat business to McGee Toyota, especially after my positive experience the first time. Unfortunately, this most recent experience made that impossible.
My experience here with Willy was phenomenal. I wasn't planning on doing a trade-in,but the circumstances required it. thanks to there alert and the proficient technicians. The concern for my safety was appreciated.All Staff where all polite and professional. Hats off to Brenda and Willy.

Just for my 2026 Tacoma trd sport yesterday and I gotta say it was a smooth transaction. Got an amazing deal! Compared to other Toyota delearships! My sales guy Tommy way fun, nice, very helpful and knowledgeable I recommend you going in there and asking for him!

Buying was easy. . Getting them to actually transfer plates took over a week and a half of getting the run around and no call backs from them until I got a manager involved then he took care of it. Was gonna buy a RAV4 for my wife from them also but after that, I bought it at another Toyota dealer and had a much better experience and customer service.

I had an excellent experience working with Leandro. Although it took me some time to visit the dealership, he consistently followed up and ensured that I was able to come in at a convenient time. He was professional, patient, and attentive throughout the entire process, making the experience smooth and stress-free.
I also had the opportunity to meet the Sales Manager, Tim, who was very professional and welcoming.
Additionally, I would like to recognize Melissa and Hass from the Finance Department. They were extremely kind and patient, especially as I asked many questions and went back and forth several times before making my final decision. They took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable and confident throughout the financing process.
I truly appreciate the outstanding customer service provided by the entire team and would highly recommend this dealership.
Tommy O’Brien is a fantastic salesman and very knowledgeable! He gives the best customer service there is. Internet sales was very responsible and we worked on a price before even coming in to test drive making the time spent negotiating in person very minimal. They even tossed me all weather mats. Tim the sales manager is very nice and will work with you on price.

By far the best experience I have ever had at a car dealership working with Tomi and Leandro. They both helped me to get the absolute best deal for my new car and the most for my trade in. Leandro made sure I was able to see and test drive any car that I had even the smallest thought about and also provided incredible customer service along the way. At no point did I feel like I was being taken advantage of or mistreated as I have at other dealerships. I will be sending everyone I know here!!!

From my first interaction via email with Loren regarding purchasing a new vehicle and trading in my current 4Runner (Beatrice) I knew this dealership was different. I loved my Beatrice - she served my needs and keep my family safe for 10 years but it was time for a new one. I recently bought Toyota Sienna Platinum and was very happy with the dealership and the staff professionalism. The car price was all negotiated over phone and text as I live in Massachusetts. The price they gave me was better than any other dealership around my area. The day when I went to pick it up they had the car covered in red carpet with a bow and it was a great experience for my family especially the kids to have this memory. I worked with a very professional gentleman named Berson. He was wonderful. He had sent me a video introducing himself the morning of my appointment. Which made finding him at the dealership super easy. He had all the paperwork prepared for me when I sat down at his desk. Walked me through the whole process and I signed on all the dotted lines. This past week I just made my first adult purchase here at McGee's! I have been searching online sites, putting my info in places just to see inventories of different dealerships. All I have been is harassed by dealers just trying to sell me. A MONTH AGO I answered a call and planned a visit here with Jared that I ended up having to cancel last minute. NO ONE FROM MCGEE'S HARASSED ME in email with pitches, nor my phone with sales calls... THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! It really made me choose you guys in the end. No pressure or stress when it came to making my final decision. I ended up deciding on a used 2019 Highlander Hybrid AWD-i online through Toyota's Smart Choice thing on their site. Still no harassing at this point I set up my appointment, and Jared introduced me to Nicholas who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful through the process. Never did he try to stray me from my choice, or make me feel pressured to buy and answered any of my questions/concerns throughout the process. I also want to extend my appreciation to Melissa in finance as well for doing her due diligence to help find a financial plan that worked for me. This new location is gorgeous, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everyone is so friendly. If you're scared to go to a dealership, or new to the whole experience like me... Go here! Tacoma service experience! Routine maintenance performed with great attention to detail. I was greeted at the dealership by Dan one of the service managers and he quickly checked in my vehicle. I explained the services I wanted completed and he was very professional and told me that I would be receiving text messages throughout the service letting me know if the truck needed any additional services. I received a email with an inspection report pretty quickly and was able to pick up the truck in the time frame Dan had said. It was my first visit to the dealership and was very pleased from start to finish. Thanks McGee Toyota for a top notch experience. And thanks to the service department for stellar work as well.
