Toddler boy mama here and let me tell you - this place delivered. We had a half day off school and spent an hour here watching the machines work at a distance. A good time was had by all. (Blippi Machines album for soundtrack optional).
I had not been to SIMS in @ 8 years, I went this morning . I could not recall the process. the cashier was very nice and explained the process. the men in the 'bay' were friendly , helpful ,& professional . in and out in 20 minutes. returned to the cashier- what a quick stop. appreciate the good service. thanks ( & 10 am ). Always get some sort of baggage when I go to this place. Good constant customer. Everytime i go i have to deal with 1 of the following. miserable customer service, waiting hours to deal with a nothing problem, waiting forever for inspectors to realize there's cars lined up waiting for them, inspectors giving you a hard time over petty crap. Example. We can't except a 4 door long bed truck. It's too long. Why don't you use your massive machines to crush it like everything else here? I've been turned around with 15-20 minutes left to closing time when I had just about nothing to scrap. Totally inconsiderate of other people's time and work schedule.
When it comes to scrap metal, sims is the place, right off the highway and the set up is simple, you drive around the building after entering yard and the scale is right there, no driving arounding searching..the left line is for copper, aluminum and the right line has scale that you drive up on scale with ur load, stop at inspection spot wherevyhey examine your load, once inspected you unload ur scrap in yard, and drive back on scale.. Extremely fast and efficient , .its that simple..they ask for ID and follow all anti thief guidelines. The crew is so cool , too..
If you've got metal items to get rid of and turn into cash, this is THE place. The directions for the process could be better explained via improved signage (for the first timer like me), but you can find your way and everyone i spoke with were understanding, friendly and helpful. Be advised you should wear workboots if you have large metal items (like appliances) to get rid of.
They gave me $160 for almost $400 worth of aluminum. Sum-odd 400 pounds. Had well over 30 bare briggs small engine blocks, and at first they weighed them, then he looked at them again and said they were “dirty”. It was my first time going there and I made that very clear, which is why they took advantage of me. Staff overall was friendly and helpful, except inside where they were laughing and grinning to one another quietly while looking at my “gold mine” as another employee and scrapper had said verbatim. Uncool, went here last minute as people were saying they give you top dollar and they’re honest, not the case depending on who you are.
Fuc&'n AWESOME place. Lamp posts, railroad tracks, bullion, traffic lights, kegs, police cars that were parked at the Donut Shop, manhole covers, ammo, ole transformers, aluminum highway lights....they take it all. Great people
