What clients say about Nut Plains Park in Guilford Township (CT)
-
The park is comprised of two fenced in sections for dogs and a playing field primarily used for lacrosse. There is not a playground for children. Trails for hiking are located down the path and at the back of the lacrosse field. The dog park has wood chips and dirt in the larger section and grass, dirt and wood chips in the smaller section. While it is maintained and cared for by parks & rec and volunteers, there are some owners that do not follow the rules leaving messes behind. Thankfully there are others that will periodically clean up others mess.

I came to this park after reading in the local newspaper about the group from the Guilford Community Garden seeking donations to create a new community garden. I wanted to check out the location where the garden will be established. It’s situated at the end of a path between the dog park and the sports field. This area was originally a community garden in the 1970s and later became a site for experimental plantings of American Chestnut trees. In recent years, it has become overrun with invasive plants. The Guilford dog park is but one section of Nut Plains park. The dog park is mulch covered, with shade from trees and a variety of equipment and obstacles. Trash and bags, but no running water. People and dogs were super friendly.

Wonderfully shaded, large dog park. Big & little dog sides, both with plenty of benches and other amenities like waste bags, water, tennis balls, and agility equipment. Well-maintained and clean. People & pups are very friendly. The town and all of the volunteers have certainly created an amazing space for dogs to be dogs.

Everything everyone said about the upkeep and the structure is accurate. We didn't want to leave! Tons of water, agility structures, separate places for big and small dogs, tennis balls and racquets. Reasonable rules. Apparently the best hours are 8 am and 4 pm, with the regulars there!

Nice dog park. They had obstacle courses, ton of tennis balls, even tennis racket to throw them with. Small dog and large dog area. Poop bags and even very nice water dispenser for dogs. Add on a doggie pool and a little bit more grass and the dog park would be perfect! It’s 20 minutes away from me but I will definitely be back.

Love the wood chip base. Also nice to have the tennis balls and racquets and the obstacle items too.

Went with friends and their doggo. As a spectator with no responsibility this place is bliss. Just watching the dogs running around losing their mind. There's all ages and types of dogs so keep that in mind. But overall it was a really nice place.

Some hours are completely packed, no pun intended, but when I find the quiet times my pups love it. Very friendly people and respectful dogs...or visa versa .

Solar lights, big jugs of water, ample tennis balls and water bowls. Separate fenced in areas for large and small dogs. Lots of parking.

Great park for dogs, the dog owners there are respectful, tentative to their dogs and overall great. The few occasions were dogs tend to not get along the owners are always vigilant and remove them from the situation.

Our puppy had a wonderful time running around in the small dog side. Glad to see her run so much.

This is a very nice dog park. Lots of shade. Friendly dogs and people. The small dog section of the park is one of the largest I've seen.

Huge area for the doggos to run and frolic in. Different times of day have different regulars. Benches and a covered structure for drizzly days. Port-a-potties available seasonally.

The dog park was very nice an very secure. The park would get a 5 star , but there were a couple owners who reminded me of show up but don't pay attention parents at kids sporting events. Their dogs ran a muck, Irritated other dogs and pooped without owners picking it up. They just sat and read their book.

The dog park is the friendliest place on Earth. I could be having the worst day ever and as soon as I take my dog to play it all disappears. Watching the pooches frolic is the best stress remedy I know.

Nice, large park; Great for dogs to run, explore. Most people are nice but some feel they're more important and that can ruin my time there but days when everyone is nice, great dogs, good people; it's a great place to bring your dog(s) to play and run around!

Very nice and clean. Two gated areas for large and small dog. There is always water for the dogs there. I bring a gallon jug of water you add to what is there. There are dog poop bags available. I go to this park alot and every time it was clean and nice. Wood chips are in the different area for the dog, being a smalll or large dog. Excellent park for dogs.

Awesome dog park, good size and 2 sections...small dogs and large dogs areas separated.

The dog park is spacious and open with trees and benches. Most owners are polite, though - of course - there are some that are irresponsible or don't understand how dogs socialize and regard ANY barking as "aggressive" behavior. Pity. Yet, they still insist on imposing their own sense of entitlement on others. Oh well. THEY are the ones in need of training classes.

Good park. I liked it. My dogs liked it a lot also. There is always a good amount of dogs there which is good so my dogs play. Our dogs get along good with the other dogs. I recommend you go there.

Love the dog park here! It is always well maintained and when we go in the late afternoon/early evening, there are several dogs for my pup to run around with. The dog park usually has water, but they ask dog owners to bring their own dishes in order to minimize the risk of passing germs from one dog to the next. There's a basket of tennis balls, benches to sit on, and a separate area for small dogs. My experience with the other dogs and their owners has been very positive. Usually well socialized dogs and pleasant owners who clean up after their pets. On another note, my son has had lacrosse games here and it's a nice field. There's a wall to practice against, which is great. Nice park!
