Dave is a good guy with a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy visiting him when I buy parts. If it’s on his website, he has it, and stocks hard to find stuff. Keeping our VW hobby alive, glad I’m close to his place.
Called about a 1959 bug trip speedometer. After a couple questions, I bought it and it showed up within a week. Very well boxed up and even had a package of fuses thrown in. Will definitely do business again in the future..?
I ve been dealing with Dave for over 25 years and he is not rude. He only speaks what needs to be said. He is not a social butterfly, but he has met all my needs very professionally and install the top of my ‘71 vert perfect. Sold me thousands in parts for my other cars and him and his wife are great ppl (and even the dog) I got questions I go to Dave! he is the bible in this business. Not one complaint. Bug City is the best source. Go to Dave with your needs, his busy running a business. Understand him. I am a business owner as well, he is a good man.
I’ve known Dave for a few decades. Great guy and knowledgeable. He knows the cars inside and out. He has a lot of parts all over. If he doesn’t have it on his website he still might have it. Give him a call and know the name of the part or just email him a picture to his email. He will eventually help you. Just remember he is a one person show.
I just called for a part, me not having any experience with Vw's guy on the other end was super rude. First and last time calling. I really need the part but won't buy it from them at all.
It's been couple times I buy parts from Dave and I paid in Cash, the part was wrong and I tried to change,he don't want to get the parts back,he became a very disrespectful and acting rude.He believe is the only person got part VW... paid in cash he don't charge taxes and he is a very corrupted in individual after all..if you been in same situation make a review to all VW website related to bug City.or make a complaint to BBB of Connecticut.. maybe he needs a lesson .thanks
Always loved going to see Dave on Saturday morning and buy parts!! But that was a few years ago.Wish I could find another Baja bug...enjoyed working on them..they are cool!!
weirdest thing. im a regular paying customer. last 4 years. But when i called today with a question to show him a part to identify, owner Dave lazily replied "What's in it for me?" And suggested i go to someone a two hour trip away...to SHOW him a simple VW part to match. Never had a problem in multiple transactions in the past, and now this rudeness. Not courteous, polite or professional.
Very rude and unprofessional. Quoted me $6 for a part (which was overpriced compared to other sites) over the phone, then said $6.95 each when I got there in person. Some convertible parts are different than the sedan, and I wasn't confident what he was selling me was the right part for a convertible. If you have to purchase from him, expect an unpleasant experience, and a price increase if you show up in person.
Horrible customer service we are a company located in New York that was recommended to bug city we wanted to use bug city for all parts involved in restoring 4 VW beetles we currently have in shop. I called and asked information for a few parts i asked if they sold weather strip kits i was informed they didn't sell kits only individual parts so i said i would need to get back to them on which pieces i needed and proceeded to ask for information on a pair of running boards for the beetle we are currently working on, the person on the phone sounded annoyed like they didn't want to waste the time or couldn't be bothered to explain which running boards would be best for the vehicle or why for that matter. He just stated there were running boards from different countries and different materials. it would have been professional to at the very least give a recommendation on what the best choice might be or what information was needed from me to find a direct replacement part. would not recommend this company for parts and will not send our customers here!

I've been going to Dave for years for parts for my rebuild. The guy is a wealth of information and has always been able to help with hard to find parts or that one piece of information that makes you go "Ah Ha!" in your current project. Highly recommended if you're looking to do a VW aircooled rebuild of your own.
I have ordered parts from Dave at Bug City for my 70 Beetle and 70 Ghia for many years. The prices are not always the lowest, but you get in customer satisfaction easily outweighs the cost. Dave has not only provided the parts I need as soon as I need them, but has been ready and willing to dispense expert advice both in emails and over the phone. Bug City is always my first choice when looking for NOS or quality used German parts for my cars.
Bug City sells new and used vw parts, and the owner knows the cars inside and out. Dave is a fun guy to do business with and fun guy to talk to. He is definitely a "No BS" businessman... if you're to hassle, haggle, or insult him he'll just tell you to take your business elsewhere.
This person sells used parts as new and also sells on ebay under name "bugcity" and leaves negative feedback for everyone, extorts members, and has a horrible track record. You may want to check it out for yourself - very rude and unprofessional
