Operational hours can be confusing. Here is a picture of their hours of operation sign. Waits can be long but the staff is always patient and courteous, but the employees are not there to help you offload your junk. That is completely your job.
Please don't list your hours online as being open until 7:00 p.m. if you're going to be closed at 5:42 p.m.! It really is an inconvenience to your paying customers who have spent all day loading their items to be taken to the dump, only to have to keep it in the back of the truck for another day because your website is wrong.
Been coming here for as long as I can remember. My pops used to fix the hydraulic rams on harrisons trucks years ago...always good crews! Always no problems!
always helpful these people are the best ! I went there five minutes before they closed had a truck full of cardboard did they sag they were closed ? no sir they welcomed me and served me ! I would have to drive around all weekend with a full truck ! The people at Gold Coast are dedicated hardworking people ! Thank You Gold Coast job well done!!!
Was able to recycle cans and plastics while I also waited in line for dump.
I also know this place gets busy, sometimes too busy. I will usually wait til 6ish to dump as they are open til 7? but the can/bottle recycling closes 330?
Drove out here to drop off a vehicle loaded with what was labeled as HDPE 2 recyclable. However it did not have a California recyclable code and therefore I paid 30 bucks to dump it. I drove up to the dump yard and the guy asked for my paid receipt then left and offered no assistance. Had I known I would be paying, I would have saved the trip and rented a dumpster. I won't be back anytime soon.
Employees are very understanding even though there is a language barrier. I go here all the time. The girls at the front are sweet and conversation is great even during this pandemic. Will always go here BY CHOICE!
I thought the staff that was there helping us unload or directing us where to go to unload was great! The person that was rude was the one that we have to see to pay. She would not even look at me
Gold Coast is a reasonably clean recycle center but can be a bit confusing if you don’t go often. I understand that California has stringent recycling rules, but they aren’t always super clear as to what can and can’t be recycled. The staff, however, is always very gracious and happy to assist. As recycling centers go, you really can’t go wrong here.
This morning I waited over an hour in line at Gold Coast to recycle about 25 lbs of plastic bottles. After about an hour I was directed to another short line to the buy-back consumer kiosk. My bottles were weighed and I was given a receipt showing the weight and price for the bottles. I was directed then back to the end of the original line which, by that time, was all the way to Sperry Drive. Estimated wait to reach the payment kiosk was over 2 hrs and the receipt expires at 3 pm. Asking someone to wait almost 4 hrs to sell and be paid for recycling is unconscionable. When I called and asked if the receipt could be extended another day I was told "no". So essentially they got the product for nothing and the consumer has no incentive to recycle plastics, aluminum etc. The Gold Coast website contact information doesn't provide an email address to contact them or register a concern or complaint. Gold Coast/Harrison needs to have some oversight on their county monopoly.
I visit two times a week at least. The guys are very professional two of the girls who you pay Are extremely polite and well mannered the dude has some other girl Are very rude most of the time but I don’t let him ruin my day thanks for all the hard work hopefully their attitude changes
I had to ask the woman at the gate three times where I could drop off a tv before I understand she was saying to put in the white bin yourself. The bin was full. I will NEVER go back...
I called this company twice to see if they took paper and they assured me they did. I got there and then they said they didn't take paper. This company has no clue what they're doing, they're disorganized, they give conflicting info, and they have an incorrect address at Lirio Avenue listed online. Then the thug that runs the scales acted like he was doing ME a favor by making an exception to their rules of no paper. This unfriendly, disorganized and hostile company should be out of business. Why bother with them when there are several other recycling centers available.
Called to get information on how to locate a new cardboard printer ink recycling box. Pushed "0" but got the intro message again. Tried three times and each time pressing "0" sent me back to the start. Never did get through.
Rude dude that was "directing" the parking. It's like have signs to designate where to park if you're gonna whine to me about how I parked right behind the line of people already there? Must have been in a mood, also seemingly dangerous area with the quarry and speeding trucks comin through "for the public" eck!
I am a busy Superintendent for a general contractor and need my receipts from Gold Coast to close out my permits with the County of Ventura. But when I called I was spoken to like a child and told I need to get the receipts from Athens (Athens is a great company and they just transported the trash they didn't dispose of it) .. The lady I spoke to started acting like she couldn't hear me on the phone like the connection was breaking up (I could hear her just fine). I know, how do I have time to wright this review if I am so busy right? I just want others to know that this company is not a company anyone should be doing business with. very unprofessional, .
An entire truck bed filled, and they only gave me 3$. Rude, seriously better off just throwing in someone else's recycle bin. Took months to get all this stuff together. Thought I was doing something good for the environment. Counted it all out myself before hand and the deposits should have totaled 30$. Avoid like the plague.
The process of dumping for the public is outrageous. If it is a standard fee for a pickup load then why don't they charge when you arrive to dump. Or at least have a separate line for only paying customers have finished dumping. It seems a bit rediculous that you have to re enter the same line as those waiting to dump.
For a fee, they will accept items that other vendors will pay for, kinda push it off like they are doing you a favor. I would advise using another vendor. There are lots of choices.
