I had a really bad experience at this AutoZone location. I purchased an alternator that turned out to be defective during the initial testing performed by my mechanic. The employee was informed that the part was failing and still instructed me to buy another alternator to continue the repair. When I tried to exchange or return the defective alternator, the store refused, even though: • It was purchased the same day • I had the original receipt and box • The part failed during initial testing • The employee already knew it was defective What made the experience even worse was the attitude of one employee, who repeatedly told me: “I decide here.” Even though he was just a regular employee, he spoke to me in an aggressive and very disrespectful manner, as if he had total authority over the situation. Because of the poor management and lack of flexibility from the staff, I was put through hours of unnecessary stress and anxiety while already dealing with a car breakdown. I want to highlight that the only kind, professional, and genuinely helpful person in this store was Dennys. He was the only one who tried to find solutions instead of creating more problems. In my opinion, he should seriously be considered for a management position, as he was the only one who showed real customer service. In the end, I did receive a refund, but the way I was treated was very bad and completely unnecessary. I do not recommend this location.

I visited the AutoZone on C Chavez St in San Francisco on January 1st because I urgently needed help replacing my car battery. Unfortunately, the service I received was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. When I asked the cashiers for help, they told me they don’t help with battery replacement. I then asked if I could borrow the tools so I could do it myself, and they said they don’t lend tools either. Since I was stuck, I asked them at least to tell me which tools I should buy to replace the battery. One young employee, who looked around 18 years old, said he didn’t know. He then asked another employee, who seemed annoyed and uninterested, and that person casually said, “Maybe 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or 13 — one of them should work,” and walked away. It felt like they were mocking me instead of trying to help. This was especially upsetting because it was raining very hard, it was dark, and I was already in a stressful situation needing to fix my car. Instead of getting support from a store that’s supposed to help drivers, I felt ignored, disrespected, and unwelcome. I had to leave and go somewhere else to spend my money. What hurt the most was not just the lack of help, but the attitude. I was polite, respectful, and patient — yet I was treated like my questions were a burden. That is not what customer service should look like. I don’t understand why AutoZone would hire employees who show no interest in helping customers. This location seriously needs better training in basic customer service and respect. I will think twice before ever coming back here, and I hope management takes this kind of behavior seriously

First time at this Autozone and i had a really good experience, Oscar was more than helpful and took initiative to help me switch out my wiper blades. Very professional and courteous.

The guys their always say used oil recycling tank is always full. Even if they don't put a sign on at the door like some other autozones. Very rude customer service

If I could, I would leave 0 starts. I ended up leaving the store without buying what I needed because of the extremely bad and rude customer service. I do not know much about cars but I needed a jump starter. I asked the employee and was ignored several times. When he finally decided to answer he wouldn't even talk to me he just gestured at products. When I asked specific questions he just walked away. Then when I finally chose something he told me it wouldn't work for what I needed but when I asked why he refused to answer again. Baffling behavior and also really mean. Never coming back here :(

This AutoZone always has my back. Good stock of basic consumables and relays, helpful and friendly employees, and fair prices. I have never had a bad experience (unless you count the difficulty leaving the parking lot; just turn right at the light through the shared/slip lane then U-turn if needed).

I do not recommend this store to anyone for shopping! You will get very bad service attitude! Please choose another brand name store to shop at! I had a very bad experience when I first chose to shop at AutoZone. I placed an order on their website and chose this store for pickup. When I placed my order, the website indicated that I could pick it up the same day, but three hours after completing my order there was still no progress update (I've never encountered any other brand store that has such a long processing time), so I drove to this store to inquire. Then all the employees chose to ignore me and offer no support, which made me very angry (When I arrived at their store, there were only two customers inside, it wasn't busy at all, and the employees were very lazy and even playing with their cell phones). Finally, I approached customer service to request a cancellation of my order. This was my first and last purchase and I will never choose this store again!

Update: Tuesday, July 8, 2025 I want to give a huge shoutout to Fernando at AutoZone for going above and beyond in helping me out recently. From the moment I walked in, he treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. He didn’t just answer my questions, he took the time to understand my situation, offered helpful advice, and made sure I had exactly what I needed before I left. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to great customer service, but Fernando truly exceeded every expectation. Because of his outstanding help, I will 100% continue to be a loyal AutoZone customer for all my car needs in the future. Thank you, Fernando, you’re a true asset to the AutoZone team! ———- I had an amazing experience at AutoZone recently when I needed to exchange a bad battery. The staff were extremely helpful, going above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. They not only assisted with the exchange but also provided me with the necessary tools to remove my old battery. When a bolt fell through the cracks, they even gave me a new one. The people at this AutoZone are truly amazing, and I am very grateful for their outstanding service. Highly recommend!

Shout out to Bladmir for helping me with my car last week. Such kind and diligent Staff. Not only was Bladmir experienced he was so thoughtful and came out to my car to make sure all was with my car. I’m pretty experienced with auto maintenance and he helped me feel assured that I poured my coolant in the correct tank. It’s so rare to find great customer service! Thankful to him for being so kind and competent.

Staff were friendly and had my part but EVERYTHING is locked up like jail and there's encampments outside. Not sure if I can recommend it, not really Autozone's fault but why have a sales floor if customers cannot get anything themselves? Just seems outdated with the current state of the world.

I visited this AutoZone location and was disappointed with the customer service. Especially young one. I do not expect good customer service from AutoZone but also I do not expect bad service. The employees seemed sluggish and unmotivated. Basic professionalism and a welcoming attitude go a long way. Even if they treated their own friends the same way, it would still come across as rude. Overall, this experience was disappointing, and I hope the service improves in the future.

I recently had a very frustrating experience at my local AutoZone that I feel compelled to share. I purchased a product that I ended up not needing, and when I went to return it (unused and in its original packaging with the receipt), the manager outright refused to accept it. Despite the product being in perfect condition and well within the return policy guidelines, the manager was uncooperative and dismissive. HE WAS MORE FOCUSED ON CREATING A SCHEDULE WITH HIS EMPLOYEE FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK, COMPLETELY IGNORING MY CONCERNS. There was no valid reason given for the refusal, and the lack of customer service was shocking. As a loyal AutoZone customer, I expected better treatment, especially when the return policy clearly states that unused items can be returned. This experience has left me feeling undervalued as a customer. The manager’s attitude was unprofessional, and it’s disappointing to see such poor handling of a simple return request. I hope AutoZone takes steps to train their staff better and ensure that customers are treated fairly and respectfully. Until then, I’ll be reconsidering where I shop for my automotive needs.

What lovely service! I thought I had bought the wrong windshield wiper from a different Auto Zone location and I came in to exchange it. But they helped me by installing it for me because it was actually correct ! So above and beyond

Avoid! Car battery died and was near end of life, so replacement was recommended but the guy claimed he couldn’t do it bc the battery on my 2020 Ford Escape had some kind of fuse. Hard to believe they can’t change the battery on a Ford, especially when they told me on the phone before I drove there that they had the battery and could change it!!! I almost had to have the car towed, and if I had towed it there on that info and been told they couldn’t change it that would have been a mess.

I came in cause I needed information on articulating sockets and extenders to put my car battery back after some work. I kindly asked a worker named Vince after he asked me nicely if I needed help. After I got done explaining to him what I thought was needed we weren’t fully meeting eye to eye on what I need. As a non-mechanic I rely on their knowledge and professionalism to help me solve my problems. Vince was easy to raise his voice and make me feel inferior as he wasn’t understanding. I stated I basically had three sizes I need for a socket head attachment and where can I find it. He pointed me to the wrong thing and continued to make me feel stupid. I said this is why I came here because you are the pros. I need to screw something that are placed in three hard areas. Do you have something for that? He continued to be confused and raised his voice. I raised mine as well. His tag on his shirt said “Customer Satisfaction.” That was clearly a joke. Vince needs to work on his people skills and empathy for customers. I was open minded needed help and his aggression and lack of customer service empathy is a red flag. Will not come here again.

I just needed my battery checked. They asked me to wait since there were only 2 people that worked there and another one would be back in 12 mins. After about 15 I went back inside and they told me they would be out. I waited almost 1 hour before I had to go back in and ask again. Battery was dead and I had to buy a new one which they wouldn't install for me. Very unsatisfied with my care. Should have gone to O'Reilly's.

Probably the best car related experience I have had. A warning light came on; they helped diagnosis the problem, actually connected me with a local mechanical, helped facilitate the correct parts that I would need efficiently. Turned what could have been a very stressful experience into probably the best customer service experience I have been on the receiving in years. I will be bringing them all my business going forward.

Rude manager. Lots of barely trained personnel. Get here to return parts. Ponytail started telling me that part was installed. It is not true. For his information all parts are usually pre-lubricated. Not recommended to anyone. Unprofessional people working there.

I drove 15 minutes including 10 past an O'Reilly's only to have to turn around and go to O'Reilly's. I spent the last 10 minutes of the store being open looking at seat covers. I was politely warned by the friendly workers that they close in one minute at 8 o'clock and not 9. I would've just got the car part I needed if I would've known this before hand.

I went there got my parts and I thought I bought the wrong lights but the employee Manwell who works at the AutoZone on ceasar Chavez and south Van ness came outside and reassured me I bought the right one and he put my bulbs in for me and was very very nice and helpful. I recommend that location to EVERYONE!!!
