I can’t say enough good things about the shop! After dealing with a frustrating car issue for 18 months, they were the first team that truly listened and took my concerns seriously. They were efficient, clear, and incredibly professional from start to finish. The service was fast, the communication was excellent, and the whole experience felt honest and competent. Such a relief to finally feel heard and taken care of. Highly recommend.

They diagnosed my cars problems and they didn't want to change me for it. They are very honest and helpful. They will only recommend when you actually need something and they won't gouge you for it. I would highly recommend them. Oh and they work on other vehicles besides Japanese makes.

The staff at Japanese Auto mechanics were very professional and communicative. They explained everything in detail, which was much appreciated. I had to leave my car overnight ,they offered me a ride to and from the shop, which was quite unusual. A very nice touch as far as Customer Service!! I would highly recommend them.

They offer 10% discount up to $75 for AAA members. Customer service was friendly. Waiting area was clean. My water bottle spilled and a technician went to the trouble to get paper towels to dry up the wet floor. I paid $173 for a diagnostic test because my engine was misfiring. I was told that 4 ignition coil connectors, 4 ignition coils, and 4 spark plugs needed to be replaced. If I had my vehicle repaired then the diagnostic fee would be waived. I decided to go to another shop for a second opinion. It turns out that the spark plugs did not need to be replaced. I only had to replace 2 connectors and 1 ignition coil! I spent the extra money to get the diagnostic but it was worth it. I saved almost $775 somewhere else that charged me only for what was actually needed. My vehicle drives amazing!

Came to Japanese Auto Center for an alignment and was very happy with service. They were able to get me in the day of when I called. Although the parking lot was packed with cars and customers, they told me an hour and to an hour and a half. At 55 minutes my phone was ringing that my vehicle was ready. The staff at the front was professional, attentive and informative. I would highly recommend using them.

I’ve been coming here for years, and they continue to impress me every time. I brought my car in today because it was leaking fluid, and Kevin, the service advisor, was incredibly helpful. There was no charge to inspect the leak, and he called me afterward with the repair cost. Price to fix leak was very fair. They even gave me a ride home so I could keep working while the repair was being done. I absolutely love this place..honest, fair, friendly, professional, and consistently reliable. Japanese Auto is my go-to spot for all of my car needs. Kevin, Craig, Doug…the WHOLE team offer superior and affordable service. Highlight is that if your car is going to be at the shop for a few hours, they will take you home and pick you up when it’s ready. You don’t have to spend your whole day sitting and waiting… or spend more money on transportation services.. If you want top-notch customer service, and a trustworthy business that DOESN’T price gouge and take advantage of you, then Japanese Auto is your place !!!

Great customer service. Provides complimentary drop off and pick up nearby while car is being serviced. The owner, Dan, and all his staff were very personable, communicated throughout the process, responsive, and provided honest and great service. And I never felt like they were trying to rip me off. I definitely plan to return to them in the future.

Their service is honestly amazing. I called in the morning and they were able to accommodate me and squeeze me in same day to check my car out. There were different underlying problems with my car and they were able to inspect it thoroughly. I highly recommend!

This was my first time coming to Japanese auto repair. My son has used them several times in the past and was extremely happy with their service. Let’s just say I have never been somewhere where I was in and out so quickly. the owner Dan met me when I arrived and he actually took care of the service on my car. I went in for a simple oil change, and they also checked my tires and even replaced a missing piece on my gas cap at no extra charge. When I dropped off my car the next day for new tires, they kindly offered a ride to a nearby location. Kevin was very patient and clearly explained my car’s condition and the repairs done. I feel very comfortable trusting my car with them and highly recommend JAPANESE AUTO Center!

I ran over & dragged a piece of palm bark under my Honda’s chassis for about 2 miles. Re-starting the car, the airbag warning light appeared & stayed on the 3 miles home. The next morning I took the car to Japanese Auto (JA), where they scanned the codes and said the airbag clock spring needed replacement. They provided a written quote listing labor & a “part number” starting with Q and priced at $766, telling me OEM Honda dealer parts were non-discountable. After researching, I found the actual OEM Honda part number begins with 779 and costs $718. When I questioned JA, I was told the listed “part number” was really the dealer reference code—despite being presented as the official part number on the quote. That raised concerns. A second opinion from another shop quoted the actual $718 price with the correct 779 OEM part number, and even offered to install the part if I found it for less. When I mentioned the airbag light was no longer on, they had me come in to re-scan & re-test the system. No codes or faults occurred even after a test drive. The issue appeared to be an intermittent error caused by debris rubbing the undercarriage. I was advised to monitor the warning lights. Two weeks later everything is still functioning normally. Total cost: $0. Had I proceeded with JA, I would have paid $1,000 for an unnecessary repair. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable using them in the future

Friendly and helpful office staff. Competent and thorough mechanics. They take the time to explain everything, before and after service. Offered to drive me home and pick me up after service was completed. Kudos to the whole team Lars, Eva, Mario and Sandra. I would highly recommend to friends and family. Very professional and well organized.

After shopping around, I brought my vehicle here instead of the dealership because I had heard great things from my colleague. I received a preliminary quote based on what I needed to have done which they provided, and made an appointment. I recommend making an appointment because they’re very busy and not open on weekends. Their prices are competitive, but you get what you pay for and I was happy with the great, fast service. The staff at the front desk is very professional and friendly. Eve was wonderful. Will be back!

I brought my car in for a checkup before a long road trip (moving cross-country.) Japanese Auto was able to get me in quickly, checked up my car and filled up my brake fluid (all that needed fixed) in about 2-3 hours. Excellent communication, a fair price and kind people. 5/5 stars :)

I came in on Monday, 01/05 to get my brake pads replaced and the rotors resurfaced. Service was fast and friendly, and the price I paid was 2.5x less than what the dealership had quoted. Excellent service and communication. I will be bringing my car here for service moving forward.

These guys are awesome. They run a very efficient and clean shop. The owner puts extra effort to make the whole process of fixing your car in an organized way. You will feel it when you just stand around outside. Prices are honest too

Took my car to Japanese Auto center on January 5th to have my car inspected. Eve helped me at the desk. She called me later that day to give me an update on what they needed to do to my car. I gave her the ok for them to fix my car. I was called on January 8th and Eve let me know that the car was ready to be picked up. I am very pleased with the outcome of the work that was done to my car. I will definitely return if I need any services done. The radio wasn't working in the car and someone fixed it for me, so that was a blessing. Thank you Japanese Auto center!

Words cannot express the gratitude for the service I received at Japanese auto center. I live in San Diego and my husband and I drove to LA New Year’s Eve . Long story short we had to have our vehicle towed and AAA recommended Japanese auto Center. Our wipers stop working while we were driving in the rain. Due to us having to be back in SD by Monday we couldn’t get the wipers repaired but Kevin at the repair center ordered water repellant to put on the windows so we can at least drive back home safely in the rain. Thank God it was only light showers and the repellent worked well. Even though we did not get the car repaired there, the staff and Kevin were so accommodating and nice. They put safety first and didn’t complain or stop assisting us just because we didn’t have the car repaired at their shop. True and genuine people working at Japanese Auto Center. I made an appointment at 7 AM to drop off my car. I arrived early since I didn’t know what traffic was going to be like and everything appeared opened and lit up. So I walked to the office and offered to wait outside until they opened, but they welcome me in Enthusiastically and started working on my paperwork immediately! From that point forward, they always kept me informed what was going on, and I was extremely satisfied with their work. You can often tell how good a mechanic is by the cleanliness of their operation and their place was spotless! They have earned my business for the rest of my days!

I could not be happier with the service I received at Japanese Auto Center. The staff is always warm, friendly, and attentive. They ask all the right questions to get to the root of any issue. I came in for a routine oil change, a smog check, and to have my brakes fixed, and they made the entire process easy. They walked me through every detail and provided a clear estimate upfront so there were no surprises. If you're looking for good auto work at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. I've been coming here for several years and they've never let me down. They never force any major repairs on you or conveniently find a massive problem when nothing was wrong, and they're always open and transparent about every detail of their work. Some other things that set them apart from your average garage is that they have a cozy waiting area where you can grab a free cup of coffee or purchase other snacks and drinks from a vending machine (along with free wifi), and they offer a complementary ride service to take you home if you can't find one yourself.

Price is great for the treatment and service quality, if you don't care about premiums, price is still more than reasonable for the fixes performed. I'm not a mechanic but I am an engineer, and have done repairs on many cars. Some fixes however, require special equipment or are messy, annoying, etc. In that case, I leave my car to the specialists, of which I've struggled to find genuine mechanics who won't sacrifice the customer for a couple extra dollars. Having been to over 25 shops in the area, I truly believe that Japanese Auto Center is the closest you can get to perfection in a mechanic shop, and might be one of the best shops in California to be honest. I came in for a few simple repairs to judge the work quality before committing to expensive, detailed jobs. First off and contrary to my biggest peeve, the jobs are clearly priced and quotes are given before any work is done. I also purposefully left out key issues in the vehicle to see if they could catch them, as other mechanics I've been to have missed these. All issues were diagnosed and more importantly, NO UPSELLS happened. They made notes of them and stated recommended services, rather than performing the service without consent and up selling as every 4 in 5 shops I've been to do. Lastly, 24 months of warranty is nice. I'm not sure how valuable this is since that'll depend on whether its honored, but it's a nice bonus that isn't usually offered at this price point. Great work and props to the techs, they truly know their stuff!

Service Date: October 13, 2025 Vehicle: 2017 Subaru Crosstrek I recently brought my Crosstrek into Japanese Auto Center with a suspected bad wheel bearing. The team quickly confirmed my self-diagnosis and replaced the defective bearing efficiently. I also opted to have the CVT fluid replaced during the visit. Mario was professional, communicative, and respectful of my time. I appreciated his transparency and the way they explained the issue and the repair process. My car now runs smoothly and quietly again—exactly what I was hoping for. As a bonus, I received a 10% discount for being a AAA member, which was a nice touch and much appreciated. My cousin recommended them when I was having problems with the brakes. They were so great! Very friendly and patient. They were very clear with what the problem was, how long it would take, and why it costs what it did. They made sure to keep me informed every step of the way. I love these guys! I finally found a garage I can really feel confident with.

I went here because of yelp reviews. You need appointment first before you are seen. They are prompt and very organized. Reminds me of hospital checkins--everyone knows what to do. They shuttle you back and forth while you wait for repair. They do not do carwash (which im fine since i came here for repair). Rates are very straightforward and very reasonable. Please do not hesitate to use them. Yelp reviews are real-- Exceptional service experience! And they give AAA discounts.
