This place has 27 reviews (now 28) and 21 of those are 2 stars or lower!!! I called st 3:35 in the afternoon on a Friday and they have already stopped taking any more customers. IF THIS IS THE COMPANY YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH, YOU NEED TO RAISE YOUR STANDARDS!!!
I don’t know why there’s so many nasty reviews. I’ve always had good experience with them. I would recommend this scrap yard They’re always very friendly and helpful And the prices are pretty good to
If I could give them -5 stars I would. Very rude. Husband called to see what time they closed and if the snow was going to effect their hours what time would they be closing. Person on the phone was extremely rude. My husband ended up going cause it was closer to where we are, got asked if he wanted to upload it or wanted help to unload it. He said he needed help cause there was a couple heavy things. Waited 10-15 minutes and nobody came. This place needs to be shut down.
Too picky . They told me one time they didn't take burnt Copper wire. The next time they did. And they pay bottom dollar or less than national average of scrap
Horrible service. My husband weighed and checked in then drive back to get unloaded, the guy informed my husband he “just went on break” and it would be an hour, my husband unloaded all the scrap himself. He went up front to weigh out and get paid for the scrap and no one came, he went in the office and the lady in there said she was on break and he would have to wait and hour and come back. If could give less than one star I would.
Took me 50 minutes to get unloaded. Front office does not communicate with the yard so you go on a goose chase to find someone to unload you. Then I make it back to the scales at 9:31. Sorry, we go on break at 9:30, you'll have to wait until 9:45. I wouldn't be writing this if it were not the norm. They are not concerned about customers in the least. That being said, they do have some (at least one) really good guy. This is all management it seems to me.
The employees you deal with are friendly but very over worked. The person I called to find out the hours of operation was extremely rude and hung up on me.
The only reason I give 1 star is because there isn't an option for a negative number. My husband took scrap copper tubing to Thompson's in a large container. He also took some aluminum window frames. The employee instructed my husband to carry the aluminum frames to a pile in back of the scrap yard. While my husband was doing this, the employee dumped the container of copper tubing into a pile and stated that it was of the lowest quality and would only give the bare minimum price per pound. It was, in fact, the highest quality copper, but it was impossible to get the tubing back after the employee had already dumped the container into the pile. This is not an honest way to do business.
Prices way below normal but they are the only scrapyard local, so you have no choice except to use them ,if you need to get rid of junk.
Also they DO NOT stay open til 4:00 PM.
They close early so apparently they dont need the business anyway.
The clerk is always rude as well.Been going there for years.Bring Back James.He was great at his job and could run that whole place the right way.
The staff was very helpful to a mom with her children as someone who had never been to a scrap yard before. They gave clear instructions and I got rid of a bunch of junk for a little cash.
Horrible horrible scrap prices, this place must make a killing annually because they cheat every penny out of you they can. They also misidentify metal on purpose to pay a lower price.... not to mention they do a poor job of keeping their drive clean and your likely to get a flat just pulling through to offload. Don't know about drasco but Newport pays much much more and is far kinder and more helpful .....
Told to get off scale by a guy constantly smoking in the doorway finally get weighed and the same guy told us wrong on short iron so we had to reload everything that we had unloaded while another guy watched. Got reweighed and the guy unloading the trailer almost tore it up because he was to lazy to get out of left. We had to unload the rest while another guy watched us from a fork lift. When we went to get our final weight they had a closed sign on the door at 9:30am since they were eating burger king. Had to go to the back to get someone. Got our final weigh and they told us to pull off the scale and when I went back in to get my money they had locked the door.
Thompson's Recycling was nothing but professional and kind. Mr. Thompson delivered the dumpster himself and was even a day early and also allowed me to use it an additional day if needed free of cost. A+ service in my book. Thanks again!
Very poor customer service. Crooks. Want to pay you hardly nothing so they can fatten their own pockets. Want good service visit the scrap yard in drasco. Thompsons is nothing but losers liars and convicts. SELLERS BEWARE.
