Beautiful spot to visit regardless of your religion. Very peaceful and interesting. Free, too. Lovely chapel hidden in the trees with an otherworldly feel. Truly enjoyed our walk here.

An absolutely beautiful setting. If you visit Juneau make the effort to get there. For some reason it doesn't appear on most of the top things to do lists for Juneau.

There is an undescribable sense of peace. The church and grounds are well kept. Free public parking, short walk to the premises.

Such a pretty location with beautiful gardens, a small but active salmon stream, and lots of hoary marmots in summer!

Such a beautiful location! Very well maintained and in an amazing location. There were marmots along the trail to the Shrine of St. Thérèse.

The National Shrine of Saint Therese overlooks Lynn Canal and the Chilkat Mountains. It's situated on 46 acres. The site contains a stone chapel, crypt, labyrinth, columbarium, lodge, cabin, and retreat. We spent a few hours just exploring the property which is free to do. The chapel was closed so we did not go in it but we could walk around it. The gardens were beautiful and very peaceful. The website has all the information on the rentals.

Wow wow wow...I have been to Juneau 4 times and this was my first visit to the national shrine of st. Terese. 100% make the time to visit regardless of you religious beliefs. The nature you will see is exquisite! If you are Catholic, the walk with the stations of the cross is incredibly moving and will raise your spirit. The love meditation garden is lovely and I could not imagine not finding some inner peace during your visit. 100% visit!!

Very nice, beautiful and breathtaking place. We have good sunny weather and view was crazy good. If you visit in time when Salman at spawning you have grate chance to come really close and see it. This was grate time and opportunity to be there. If you on cruise jut rent a car and get here it worth it.

Absolutly fantastic place to visit while in Juneau. The history and peace of this place was a welcome break from the business of a cruise ship. Highly recommend.

Make the time to visit here. Plan to spend some meditative moments and reflection on what is most important to you. Take your time. I wish I would have had more to really absorb the essence of being there. The grounds are beautiful and inspiring.

What a beautiful shrine a d surrounding property. There is a gravel lot for parking and a short steep trail down to the bathroom and retreat buildings. The bathrooms were heated and very clean, which was nice this time of year. Not far from that were some of the well maintained planting areas and the gift shop. But the real gem is the causeway to the island where the shrine to St Therese is. The walk is great out to the wooded island, with plenty of sea and land animals being seen to either side. Once you reach the island, there is a trail with a series of small shrines about the life of Jesus, statuary, and peaceful quiet. Inside the beautiful church is a guest book, a place to buy a Saint's pendant, and plenty of pews to sit in quiet reflection. I'm so glad we took the time to come out here as it was a highlight of our visit to Juneau.

Wonderful place. Thankful for the very friendly groundskeeper that shared great info. My favorite spot was the quiet space marked “The Gap”

Our awesome tour guide in Juneau brought us here. We’re not religious but this is an amazing place to visit regardless of religion. We saw our first out in the wild bear here. One of my photos has his big behind in the creek. It is one of the highlights of our visit to Alaska.

Very beautiful & peaceful place. My husband and I are not religious, but we came here to view the beautiful shrine and experience peacefulness. There is also a garden here that we did not visit.

The National Shrine of S Thérèse was a wonderful little place to visit. I enjoyed the peace and solitude in the chapel. There are several trails to explore, a labyrinth, gardens, and of course, the Shrine. Well worth a stop on your adventures around Juneau and it's free. Bonus: you might get to see this cute marmot!

Excellent place to see some native birds and some beautiful gardens. The scenic views are astonishing It's a short little but well worth it. Wish we were able to stop during mass.

Truly majestic! Great detail in the maintenance of the grounds! The water goes on forever with the most beautiful blue colors. The walk out to the chapel is short. Once you are at the chapel you can enter and sign the visitor log and take a moment to connect spiritually. The stations of the cross are outside in the garden around the chapel. Worth the time to meander to each one and see the gorgeous art.

This chapel is amazing. It is set in a beautiful tranquil area. The craftsmanship is fantastic yet the chapel has a humble simplicity about it that really helps provide a feeling of reverence and closeness to God. This is a must see.

Just a few miles outside of Juneau. Beautiful towering trees, impressive mountains and lots of water. Plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the scenery. St. Therese Catholic Church on the grounds for those who wish to visit. Highly recommended.

This is my second time visiting, and this time, I had the pleasure of introducing my brother and his family to this peaceful and serene Shrine located on the water. Stations of the Cross have been constructed throughout the wooded area around the church. As you make your way along the pathways, the subtle lapping of the water and the sounds of local birds surround you. One of my favorite things here is a labyrinth, a beautiful space for walking meditation. It is evident that much time and effort have been put into creating this homage to Saint Therese. It’s a beautiful place for prayer and reflection. ☀️

Lovely off the beaten path place. The setting is beautiful and serene - wooden island in Auke Bay. The stone chapel is remarkable as all the stones had to in brought over. There are 14 stations outside that you can visit while there. Please be aware that retreats may be taking place and that you are on, what many people consider, sacred ground and is due some level of respect.

Stunning place. There's quite beautiful plants and flowers in the garden. A chapel for prayers. Little trails around the peninsula connected by a rock concrete covered bridge. The view is astounding. Although have in mind this is a religious place.

Such a beautifully preserved sanctuary. I don't know much of its history or anything, nor can I speak to the religion that it represents as I was visiting on neutral terms and observing in admiration of nature. It's incredible. The atmosphere, the energy, the life... it was surreal! This sacred ground really is a sacred place and I loved everything about it

Parking lot number on is next to the cabins and church. It's a beautiful walk and just mesmerizing. I almost didn't make it due to schedule and I am so thankful that I did. Absolutely amazing.
