What clients say about Gold Creek Salmon Bake in Juneau (AK)

I went there twice and loved it every time. It is located by the creek and you can actually feel the Alaska vibe. It is an all you can eat buffet and the salmon is super tasty. It is located about 15 minutes drive from downtown area. It is quiet busy but the service is fast and there are plenty of places to seat. There is a souvenir shop and WC. They have their own shuttle and if you go on a tour you can catch the shuttle to downtown on your convenience. It is a magical place with an amazing waterfall and salmon swimming upstream. The staff and owners are very friendly. They have live music, usually a guitar/singer.

An Alaskan salmon bake is a must, and Gold Creek Salmon Bake is outstanding. A cut above most. The salmon is excellent and grilled to perfection on genuine wood smoke fires. The sides are well done and the casual outdoor atmosphere is very relaxed and family friendly. It's tucked back on a road off the highway so it feels like you're in the Alaskan forest. We combined our dinner as part of a glacier excursion. But they do have busses that shuttle from the port. They had a singer playing guitar and the staff were very courteous. Highly recommended.

On an alaskan cruise, my husband and I are originally from Kentucky. The Gold Creek Salmon Bake was an excursion available through our cruiseline. Absolutely wonderful experience, wonderful atmosphere and food. Will be back when in the area again!

This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Alaska. The food was phenomenal, the glaze on the salmon out of this world. The atmosphere was incredible and the kids got to pan for gold right there on site

Excellent place!!!! Phenomenal staff!!! Delicious Salmon!!! I came here for a tour, and it was definitely worth the money. The salmon with brown sugar syrup or sauce was a nice touch on the salmon. The salmon was so fresh it felt like they just caught it that morning, and the cooks made it very tender. The lemonade was very good, and they even offer s'mores as a treat. It was definitely worth the try.

Great place to enjoy some wood fire cooked salmon. The entire seating area is covered so no fear of getting rained on

Great place to get Salmon and food. All you can eat and enjoy. If you hang around you can walk up the trail for about 5 min and see a great water fall. The coolest thing is the gold mining cave next to it. Music was ok but not that great but still nice. There is even a whale fountain there you can go and see.

Atmosphere is a 10! Food is alright. If you love Salmon and ribs and want a buffet of that in Juenau, then this is the place for you! Please go with with an appetit to benefit the full value of the cost, otherwise it's probably not a good choice if you only eat a plate.

I typically do not like cooked salmon because they tend to be dry and bland that way. However, they know how to cook and glaze their salmon here. The salmon is the star of the show here. You also get a taste of dining in the wild side here and more, from roasting marshmallows on sticks to visiting the waterfall here. By wild side, I must emphasize that this is an outdoor dining environment so the experience will be different. Nothing beats a salmon bake in Alaska!

One of the highlights of our cruise! Such a peaceful place with wonderful food and scenery. All the seating is covered, and heaters are provided in cold weather. The food was tasty and plentiful. The salmon delicious and the cheese potatoes heavenly. Clam chowder was fabulous, and they offer wild blueberry cake and smores provided for dessert. But the park itself was so lush, and peaceful to explore and photograph! From the old mine machinery to the beautiful waterfall, I wish we had had more time here. Flowers, tiny forest mushrooms, wild blueberry bushes, a musician singing old folk songs while softly playing guitar.... So restful!!

I don't know how people rave about the food being delicious here. But it was alright at best. If you're used to having ethnic foods then the food at this place is bland! I was so excited about the blueberry cake and it ended up being grossly sweet from the thick layer of powdered sugar on top. The cake it self was dry. The only redeeming part is the beautiful scenery. It's right by a creek and it does get cold as the sun goes down. The employees besides the old chowder lady were nice.

This is an all-you-can-eat salmon bake, with salmon grilled over wood-burning grates for a delicious smoky flavor. The meal includes a salad bar with baked beans, coleslaw, BBQ ribs, cornbread, pickles, and beets. After you’ve had your fill, there’s a cozy firepit area where you can roast marshmallows—sticks are provided! The venue also features a gift shop and a scenic nature walk that leads to a beautiful waterfall. Live music adds to the lively and welcoming atmosphere. Water, lemonade, and tea are included with your meal, while alcohol and soft drinks are available for purchase. We drove ourselves, so our pricing may have differed from that of the excursion groups.

Awesome food. Glorious ambiance. The stream was so lovely, the twinkle lights were magical. You smell the wood burning fire as you drive up. You’re surrounded by nature and trees and it is such a delight. The salmon with the honey butter glaze straight from the fire is incredible. I also really enjoyed the salads and the beans and the rice and cheesy potato casserole. We took the little walk through the woods to the waterfall. Saw the abandoned mine. Ran into someone who had panned for and found a fleck of gold. Just an amazing evening. Highly recommend!

The Gold Creek Salmon Bake was such a fun and memorable part of my trip to Juneau. The whole place feels like a hidden forest spot with a peaceful creek and a little waterfall right nearby. The food was delicious especially the salmon which was grilled over alder wood and had this amazing smoky flavor. There was also chowder ribs wild rice salad and a really good blueberry cake for dessert. They had live music playing which made the whole experience even better and after eating I walked a short trail to check out the waterfall and even tried gold panning just for fun. The staff was super friendly and everything was really well organized. Even though it was a little rainy it didn’t matter at all since everything was covered and warm. If you are visiting Juneau and want to enjoy good food in a beautiful outdoor setting this is definitely worth checking out.

What a lovely experience! From the moment you step into the property you are immersed in the most beautiful setting, served delicious food, and can even enjoy a roasted marshmallow and the delightful music of the local performing artists. Highly recommend. Grab a souvenir from the cute little gift shop and take lots of pictures in all of the little corners that showcase area plants and woodwork!

The setting at Gold Creek Salmon Bake is beautiful...surprisingly tucked just off the main road, but it feels like you’re in the middle of the woods. The short walk to the nearby waterfall and old mine is a lovely bonus, with interpretive signs and a chance for kids to “pan for gold.” The experience is definitely geared toward the cruise crowd. It is a high-volume and very touristy kind of place. The chowder station offers tiny sample cups, and the buffet includes salad, slaw, scalloped potatoes, beans, BBQ meats, and a separate area for grilled (not baked) salmon. Lemonade, coffee, and a tasty self-serve blueberry cake are included. Soda and alcohol cost extra. Live music adds a nice touch, though I felt bad seeing a sign asking guests to tip the performer, it made it feel a bit awkward. There’s also a small gift shop onsite if you're in the mood for souvenirs. Overall, it was a fun and convenient outing with friendly vibes and nice scenery, but the food was just okay, not memorable. If you're looking for a truly local, high-quality meal, you might be better off elsewhere. Recommended for first-timers wanting the “Alaska salmon bake” box checked.

We loved this salmon bake after an afternoon gold panning in the creek. The food was plentiful and delicious, especially the grilled salmon. We also tried the local Amber Ale. Set in amongst the forest by the rushing Gold Creek with a picturesk waterfall and pay dirt for panning. There is also a small gift shop. A great evening of feasting before returning to our cruise liner by shuttle bus.

One of the best spots we had food on our entire Alaskan cruise. This was the gem at the end of our entire day trip! Amazing food, great music and great atmosphere. Tables are snug right up against an active spawning stream! You can take a small 3-5min hike to a large waterfall for amazing scenery and great pictures! Besides incredible selection of food they also have a fire for roasting marshmallows! Highly recommend this to make a top priority stop while in town! 100% worth it!

Food Our party of four adults had a delightful experience at the Gold Creek Salmon Bake. Even though two of us don’t eat fish, the ribs, sides, cake, and overall atmosphere ensured everyone had a wonderful time. The standout dish of the meal was undoubtedly the glazed salmon. While the sides were satisfactory, none were particularly memorable. The blueberry cake was light and moist, but it could be enhanced with a few more berries or a berry sauce for those who prefer an extra touch. I advise bringing wet wipes for the kids. Shop The small shop on-site featured a variety of gift options, from plush toys to jewelry and much more. Atmosphere and Location The salmon bake took place entirely outdoors, and we arrived via bus. It was a self-serve experience in a covered, open-air setting, accompanied by a guitar soloist. We appreciated the organization provided by the various stations, but families with young children may find it a bit challenging, as someone would need to look after the kids while others explored each station multiple times. The open bar offered canned soft drinks at an additional cost. Our group sampled everything and especially enjoyed the glazed salmon and blueberry cake. S'mores kits were available for free but had to be requested. This event is flexible, allowing you to come and go as you please before continuing your day. Be sure to check out the stunning waterfall located at the back of the property!

This place is awesome!!!! It is all you can eat, freshly grilled salmon! There are other things to eat, but salmon is my favorite!!!! You have the option of glaze or no glaze. I love the glaze. There was blueberry cake for dessert and you could roast marshmallows!!!! I'm so glad we picked this as an excursion on our cruise!!!! I would do it again! There was a guy providing live music while we ate.

This was a highlight of our time in Juneau! Everything was absolutely delicious and the scenery was stunning!! You have to try the apple cider!! It was rainy when we went but the tables are covered and heated, which made the rain an enjoyable addition to the ambiance rather than a nuisance. The waterfall behind the gift shop is only a couple minute walk and definitely worth it for a taste of the Alaskan wilderness without going on an extensive hike.

Gem of Juneau and a can't miss stop! The setting. The fresh Salmon cooked over woodfire was on point accompanied by ribs, beans, potatoes, and salad. The live folk-music hit the spot. Extremely kind and friendly staff. Wish I could go back and thank each employee again.... The very aura. If I could give 27 stars I would. The choice to come here tonight refilled my soul. Thank you!

The food is plentiful and decent. I mostly enjoyed the ambience of the dining area. I highly recommend the walk back to the waterfall/mine/rad ancient mining equipment.

Definitely worth a stop while you're in Alaska. I think you book tours online here. The salmon BBQ is on point. Nice little walk to small waterfall here. Damp but good amenities, bathroom, very chill. Beer and wine here too. Jimmy our bus driver was awesome, probably the most entertaining guide I have ever had! Keep on being awesome Jimmy.

We were brought to this salmon bake location as part of our excursion during our Alaskan cruise. This place has such a whimsical charm and looks straight out of a forest fairytale. You can literally smell the grill half a mile away. Everything here is unlimited (minus the alcohol) and we definitely got seconds. There was salad, clam chowder, cornbread, reindeer and baked beans (the BEST thing ever), dirty rice, finger-licking good BBQ ribs, and of course the star of the show, wild salmon with a yummy maple honey glaze. Just be careful there are some bones in the salmon. When you’re ready for dessert they also have blueberry cakes and you can also make s’mores over the fire pit for free! There’s a short trail to walk to get to an old mining location, and the stream alongside the trail is cute. All in all, a fantastic salmon bake experience and ambience. We would book our excursion again for this salmon bake alone!

We experienced the salmon bake here that was included with our Mendenhall Glacier excursion. The area is a forest setting and is very serene. There was a guitarist playing soft music. We took a short walk to a beautiful little waterfall along the creek right there. The salmon was delicious and cooked outdoors over a big barbecue. The sauce they use is so good! It was very cozy especially since it was lightly raining but there were canopies.

Located on Gold creek where the first Alaskan gold was discovered and beginning of the city of Juneau. The salmon bake is an all you can eat buffet with all the fixings. Well managed and smooth process moving a lot of people efficiently. Beautiful waterfalls up the creek and many artifacts left from the gold mining days. Very well done. ?

08-01-22 My family and I enjoyed this excursion. The staff made our visit more pleasant; they were willing to cook my salmon the way I asked them to (medium rare). The waterfall was amazing! The trail leading to it was short and easy walk. Enjoy the view!

The food here is incredible! Didn’t expect much when we read that it was a buffet but I was blown away. This was part of our cruise package and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing - DO IT. The salmon had this amazing glaze they put on it and their clam chowder was glorious. They have live music, plenty of drinks, a little shop, restrooms, and a pathway to go to a beautiful waterfall. The highlight of our excursion this day. Plenty of buses to get everyone back to their cruise ship too.
