What clients say about Historic Paper Mill Village Bridge in Bennington Township (VT)

The bridge is easy to get to by an automotive. To see the water you have to travel a path on foot and it can be tricky for unsteady feet.

A beautiful close-angle Town Lattice Truss build type with open eaves straddling the Waloomsac River in Bennington, VT. Built in 1889 next to its namesake paper mill. I am a big fan of what i refer to as 'car wash rails', the wooden rails that help to keep vehicles centered on a bridge and therefore avoid damage to the supporting truss work. This one was my wife's favorite on our bridge tour through the region, and there were many contenders. The competition was close.

Just one of the covered bridges in VT worth driving through and to. Make the stop and check out the reading. There is a path down to the stream to walk to and check out the bridge from the water. Be sure to check a couple of the other bridges near by and enjoy a wonderful drive though a delightful state.

This place looks like a garbage dump!! Trash everywhere! Too bad because this could be a nice little fishing spot

Went out searching for covered bridges in southwest Vermont near Bennington. The covered bridge is a one lane bridge with great views downstream of the bridge featuring a waterfall.

Covered bridge. Not much to day about it. Nice to take pictures of it and I wish there were more paths down to the water that runs underneath it.

Everything is fenced off, so you can’t get in to see the waterfalls under the bridge. Very disappointing. Other people arrived and could not believe there was no access to see the beauty.

These bridges here in Bennington are well maintained and beautiful. We enjoyed the simple tour and reading the history for these bridges. The paper and grist mills history for this one is interesting. Just down the road is a waterfall that was quickly flowing while we were there. So pretty and calming. This is worth the stop for a simple moment of reflection on our history.

Holds up quite nicely when driving through. My sister was a little on edge about going through a bridge like this, but we ended up being just fine.

Awesome! Good to visit old history you can’t see the dam nor the equipment unless your tiny and don’t mind strutting your camera under the 2” fence to concrete space!!!!!!!

Really nice covered bridge. Couldn't see the falls from the bridge. There was a fence with private property with cameras.

Lots of history in nostalgia people come from many states away to Vermont to take awesome photos of the covered bridges during Fall Foliage October time of year

Lots of people dumping their trash around the bridge makes it a much less pleasant experience than it could have been

So interested in the mill work, but it was all boarded up. Bridge is well kept though.

Very nice scenic and historic bridge. There's a small trail to explore more of the layout. Historic signs/ information to read more about it. You can walk through and/or drive through the bridge.

It's OK for a brief visit. The mill on the other side is pretty impressive, and has a lot of history. Why 3 stars only then? Well, the city or the owners fenced in both ends of the bridge, so there is absolutely no view of the waterfalls or the mill. Not visitor-friendly at all. If you are feeling adventurous, duck walk under the bridge on the west shore for a good view of the mill and the falls. As a bonus, you will see how the bridge is constructed from underneath.

Bridge is just another example of what happened in the past when they started the program. This device may have been used to help people change their life.

Nice enough bridge. Surprisingly good signage on road on the residential side

Supposedly, the couple who bought Paper Mill Tissue were supposed to turn it into a hydro-electric facility. Never happened, but the dams and the bridge are great! There are trails that lead you down to the water.
