If you dont organize your metals into their proper categories (ie #1 copper, #1 brass, dirty metals vs clean metals) you will likely get less money for them. But if you show that you know what youre doing, you can get what you deserve. Ive been paid dirty brass prices for CLEAN brass. Ive also been charged exactly what im owed, just depends whos working the scale that day and if youre keeping a keen eye or willing to speak up when they hollar out to the cashier, the metal types. Im looking for better yards... if that says anything...
Came here expecting 46 bucks but nah. They buy steel for 0.06 a lb, and they wont pay you a higher amount for a hight grade steel. Go litterally anywhere else
This place feels like a Juarez scam, walking up. They are in such a rush to get you through the line that you can tell you’re being disoriented on purpose… They feel like if you don’t speak Spanish, you can’t feel yourself being ripped off. by the time you get to unload, there are three folks rushing you in Spanish and grabbing everything you have to go “measure weight!” They keep saying, “the metal here!” And somehow know just enough English to say, “let’s go!”
However, when asked about specific metals, clean metals, or motor / compressor separation… “no habla English.” After they throw on everything you have in five or six wheelbarrels and it’s gone. Then, they want you to run up to the window so that a lady that does speak “some” English can pay you… but, you realize the receipt she gave you has no separated, weights, or actual numbers on it. Just a 7.4 (whatever that means) and the dollar amount of the payout. Apparently, they only accept one type of metal and it is scrap tin. Because that’s all they pay for.
Luckily, I wasn’t really going for the money and they happened to be open on a Sunday.
But, I don’t enjoy being or watching people get scammed or being blatantly stolen from.
This place is literally robbing you, even more so if you don’t understand the “only in Spanish protocol.” if you do rely on that payout or do this for a living, I would avoid this place like the plague. Hell, even if you’re one of those poor souls looking for a fix, it’s gonna take you about three truckloads to get $15 (it would be much easier to go get a 40 hr a wk job)…

Brought trailer loads of metal to this place several times! Seemed like I got hardly anything for all the hard work... but I was inexperienced and had no idea... then, after a while, I had a pretty good idea what I was going to get based on loads I had brought in the past. Anyway, one day when I brought in the biggest load of all, which was easily double what I usually brought, (and had literally always got at least a $100-150 for those;) for this all they gave me $68! So I tried to call it to their attention and all they did was argue with me so I thought maybe because the guy didn't know me and since I'm a female he thought I was stupid. So I came back to speak to the guy who was usually there, and then after that, I even spoke to the owner. But all they did was back that crook up, and it was total bs! I have a large trailer, and it was loaded front to back with heavier stuff than i ever brought before... They tried to say that the load was only like 1100 lbs! That's the same weight, as if, it was like five large guys, and I assure you it was much more than that! But what can you do? When they've already taken it off of the trailer, how can you prove anything? They knew that, and they took advantage of it! I asked them if they had cameras... that maybe they could check... and they said they didn't, and they were very rude about it... Later, I heard about another place; that's just literally like 4-5 blocks away, and I started going there... So, now I get the full extent of how bad I was being ripped off, and I'm glad it happened, or I may have never figured it out! My advice do anyone who doesn't know don't bother with this place! Just go to the any place else but here because you will probably get ripped off, too! I can't believe they get away with being so dishonest! Iwould've given them negative stars, but that option was not there...
This was the worst experience I have had at a scrap yard. I called before I drove an hour to make sure they would help me. I was assured they would until 5pm. I arrived at 4:45pm and was told that they would not help me that they were done for the day. I explained that I called and drove a long way and was still told no. They told me to come back tomorrow. People showed up after me and were helped without any problems. I guess this facility doesn't help white females. I am extremely disappointed in this experience.
They were good but last time they cut the price and were also not honest almost paying 50 percent less. Then I learned the owner had changed. So I will not go there anymore
I went to this Recycling Center today and i was very displeased with their unprofessional way of taking my metal. These grown men were laughing like school children , especially after bending my gate on the trailer. The trailer was full of metal, a 200 ft. cyclone fence, the posts, a freezer, a cement mixer, and a variety of other metal pieces. The cashier was slso very unprofesdional, when i handed him my I D , he "That's ok, we don't need it" then handed me $63.00.
No reciept and when i asked for it, he said he just did not have it. i heard there were new owners...

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I understand that they are a recycling center (junk yard). Regardless, it gives them no right to lie, cheat, steal or any other mis conduct. I was there today 4/2/2024, with a friend helping him with his materials being recycled. If i didn't understand Spanish then i would not have been able to catch them in a lie about how much the medal actually weighed. They were off by about half. When I went to the cash out window, the cashier again tries to cheat me out half of the money. I am just applaud with the management at this establishment. The entire staff needs a makeover both with customer service and presentation. I will not be going back , what for? just to be cheated again. No.
You do not see your weight coming in and you don't see it coming out. You are handing cash with no paperwork showing weight. The rate is absolutely horrible. Up to 5 times less than you would receive at other scrapyards. This is the worst scrapeyard I have ever been to. Even being open on Sundays is not a reason for me to ever go back here.
Much better than expected. They made it really easy to complete the task. Customer service was amazing. I was able to drive up and get my vehicle weighed. Drive to the back. Where they had an employee help me unload my vehicle. Drive back to the front. Weigh my vehicle again. Park my vehicle and walk inside and get paid for the steel that I dropped off. The entire trip took me 10 minutes. I'm amazed how quick that was. They are awesome over there. Good job guys.
you can't see the weigh number. they are a bunch of thieves, and including the employees and the ones behind the counter glass, And they receive merchandice with out an ID, if you know someone that works there,.BE CAREFULL YALL.
I took the same load of 200 lbs of 6063 extruded aluminum to "Recycling Center" and also to Wright Recycling for a quote. "Recycling Center" offered $.40/lb for the extruded aluminum claiming it was dirty (with other metals) Said clean would pay .60/lb. The owner at Wright also inspected the same a few minutes later, said my load was at least 95% clean of other metals and paid $.68 lb. Very Happy with Wright Recycling. Nice people.
It was quick and easy to sell scrap metal. I have no idea if I got fair rates or not, but there were lots of other people there as well, so it seems to be a popular place. I'll probably return here again and have it as my go-to place to sell scrap metal
I own an appliance business and I used to come here regularly, guys please pay attention to the rate , they used to pay 10c a pound now they pay 6c a pound ,
Paid me a different price than what they told me before I went there and I weighed everything out and they also shorted me about 10 pounds of copper and a couple pounds of aluminum. Please don’t get ripped off like I did and help make this place go outta business
I called this morning to find out the price on tin. The person on the phone said 10cents per lb. We get there and he says, 6 cents. Not cool. Secondly they do not give you a ticket to see how much weight you have and the pay out. Clearly we got cheated out of that as well. My husband has been doing this for years and is very well aware of how much scrape metal his truck can hold. Sir, it's not right that you cheat people, hard working people, out of their money. I'm not sure if there is an agency where complaints are looked into but I sure will find it. My mistake was not asking the name of the person on the phone and that mistake won't happen twice because i will not set foot back in this place.
Extremely helpful staff. They took the time to explain how to identify the different grades of copper. Payout was really nice and more fair than others I have been to.
I was looking to recycle some old pots and pans and a couple of kitchen appliances since they were metal and I didn't want them to just end up in a landfill. I didn't want any money for them so the process was easy. They took everything I offered, even things that weren't entirely metal like the pot lids and the food processor, which has a plastic body. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because when I got there it wasn't clear who I was supposed to talk to and no one came up to help me. When I asked some of the workers what I needed to do, they just brought me to the little service window because I'm pretty sure no one spoke English.
Very pleasant people, not usually crowded. Willing to help you find people who will handle stuff the can't. Old car battery cores are better exchanged with the auto store you bought the new battery from, bot otherwise good prices for metal recycling.
Totally rude, and ripped my husband off. Didn't pay right, didn't weigh my things correctly. Go to All American off of 812 south of town. It's worth the drive, trust me. They've always done us right. They're polite, respectful, honest and I never walk away unhappy.
I was offered $12 a piece for my catalytic converters that are worth $117 I understand the place has to make money I would have taken about 80 bucks piece for them. But seeing as how they underweight and under graded my copper and brass they'd already scammed me out of about $40 at least the only people that aren't going to complain about this place are people that have stolen the stuff that they brought in there and they're probably not paying bills with cash
Friendly service. Website seems to say that they would take electronics, but did not want to take boards removed from equipment (that I had separated to get the aluminum plate separate). This is my only reason for < 5 stars. I can't comment on the rates paid, but the service otherwise was great- when my truck died, they used their forklift to pull it out of the bay up to the lot so I could work on it, and later came by to offer help. This they did not have to do.
Took 1716 lbs of bare copper that was weighed on a tx certified scale. I called them to get a quote on the copper per pound price and they quoted going rate. When I got there they weighed my truck and trailer then had me pull up and unload for reweigh. After I weighed the second time they had already hauled the copper off to the back yard. When I went inside to collect they told me I had 791 lbs which is totally wrong and I showed them the txdot weight of 1716 lbs. I asked to load my copper back on the trailer and they said it was already in the back and couldn't do it. So I had to take what the weight they said. Then to make matters worse the gave me .50 less per pound than they quoted me. They said I should have came in and got the quote before I unloaded. This place is a scam. I called dps and they told me to stay away from this place because the scales are set by the state but they tamper with them every time they go back for inspection. Crooks!! Go elsewhere. I warn everyone on job sites not to go there.
I had 5 full trash bags of cans that I've collected. They were very friendly and fast, helped me load it onto the scale and I was done in under 5 minutes.
A bunch of people that hope you don't know what you have so they can pay the bottom price. Whom i assume is the owner said i weighed a 10th of what I actually weighted, and when I brought this to his attention he starting screaming at me. Then when he checked the scales again i had 1,400 in steel instead of the 70 pounds they told me I weighted. There are many other scrap yards around Austin that pay nearly double for steel. I will never be going back there again.
