What clients say about CMC Recycling in Austin (TX)

Got ripped off blatantly and to add insult to injury traffic was horrendous. CMC recycling is the worst I would give them less than one star if I could. They paid less than what the aluminum catamaran was worth, we took a trailer full of the exact same stuff but less weight to ALL AMERICAN yesterday and got paid triple what CMC bent us over for. I am appalled. The only little shred of decency worth mentioning bout this place is the lady who works up front. She was friendly and helpful everyone else clearly needed some intense customer service coaching and educational videos about metal grades and their values.. they paid with a check that couldn't be cashed for two hours for some reason, which is strange considering the check was pocket change and we gave them our goods, it would stand to reason that the money should be available immediately but whatever. Lesson learned

Our top pick for recycling metal. Tamela is beyond helpful and always service with a smile.

This place is a rip off. In Dallas I got 15 cents per pound this place paid 3 cents per pound. 8 day difference for stainless steel.

Recycle anything metal! The staff up front are super friendly and helpful. I'll go here again.

See your weight going in, see your weight coming out, and a print out of the entire transaction... Full transparency, which apparently is not the norm in the metal recycling world. They will also hold your tickets so you can cash out many smaller tickets all at one time.. I really like that.

This is my favorite metal recycling yard, the staff are always helpful and polite, they give more for my metal than other places south of here, and the folks up front in the office are friendly every time! So easy, just pull up and weigh, or drive to the back for smaller metals!!!

Staff is always nice and friendly! The only recycling plant I’ll go to . Special shout out to the cashier lady , she always greets me with a smile and is very sweet !

WORNING: Absolute ripoff of hard working people stay away from this place I brought 400lb of pure aluminum and this scammers told me there might be screw of metal somewhere so we will scam you and pay you 23$

They paid me $0.43 per pound for class 1 copper cable. Quoted me a price of around $3.00 on the phone. Go somewhere else, totally unethical company.

Every time I go here they find a way to downgrade my aluminum. When I say I'll take it somewhere else they say it's already been dumped. Can't give it back. TOTAL rip off. I'm not going here again.

I usually go to the one in south Austin, but this was conveniently located for my work site. Friendly service and almost no wait time. Great experience! Thanks CMC!!

place is a rip off. I had 6 solid aluminum rims they found 1 weight and called it dirty so I pulled the weight off with my fingers they said I can't do that and still only paid me for dirty. Everytime I come here they screw me over in a different way. not to mention the place is chaos and the service is terrible

Used to sell metal here until I realized they will rip you off in 1000 different ways. If you’ve got 1000 pounds of clean aluminum extrusions and have one steel screw in it, they will downgrade it to dirty aluminum! I guess anyone can have a quoted high price, then when you get there and offload all your material, they can tell you it wasn’t the right price, and that your material was not the grade they were quoting you on. Beware of them and use small recycling companies that you can make a relationship with. These guys could care less about you.

If I could give CMC Recycling zero starts I would. These people will screw you over every chance they can. Be careful they will threaten you, try and lock you in the office for till you change your review/ratings. They do not give you a faire deal/value for your recycling.

Thank you both small scale and large scale. Thank you Patricia , Diane and tamala , this is an honest yard. Your able to scrap and go with out a long line, 5 stars plus , I prefer this over all other yards. Very awesome

What a mess. One way in and it ain't easy to maneuver. Why? Because there is too much product. Process that junk and get it out of there. The company needs to buy those huge trailers that can just dump the metal in and get going. They have flatbeds with wooden walls the driver has to fight with daily. WTH? This company doesn't appreciate their drivers? This place is almost run backwards it is so messed up. CMC usually has a good reputation but should be embarrassed by this facility.

DO NOT GO HERE. They will cheat you out of the price of the metal would not ever go there again before I left my barn I called and asked for the price on clean aluminum so after hearing that I weighed my aluminum on a precisely calculated scale and calculated the price based on what I was told it was $150 and this aluminum was so clean you could eat off it and I walked of there property with $13 they will take advantage of you like they took advantage of me. They also try and take advantage kids on the prices and classification of the metal by being dishonest.I have been a welder for 2 years and I know what I’m talking about so one more time I will reiterate DO NOT GO HERE

These people lovingly blocked every lane at rush hour with some massive empty 18 wheeler doing a 100 point turn, driver then flipped everyone off. Also it looks like they don't give very good metal prices. Avoid.

They are less than 3 miles from me. They have a location on S. Congress that offered way more per pound for cans. I went to the place near me and asked "why the difference?" They simply said "we don't offer the same rate because we're a remote location." Something is up with this location.

Just had an altercation with one of the workers at this place over what a valid ID is Not only do they not accept passports. From the United States of America as a valid form of ID, which is law. But in addition to that they offer the lowest metal prices. If you go here you get what you deserve.

Came here and had to unload it myself. Which isn't that odd, but when it came down to prices.. I brought aluminum and they figure it's okay to basically rob people on the pricing for metals. I completely regret going here and will never return here. This place is a complete rip off. Came in with 230lbs of aluminum and made 15$ at .07c a lb., I wouldve taken my scrap back if I hadn't spent a whole 15 mins unloading it. Go to "recycling center" instead. They unload the scrap for you and pay you top dollar instead of these horrible people.

Lady up front was nice, company is shady af! Took 1300 lbs of aluminum boats and was offered 14 cents per lbs. Price was low, but i just wanted to unload them from my trailer. When i pulled up to take them off, i was told 1 cent per lbs due to maybe 10 stainless steel bolts ea boat had. They said if they were steel bolts they would've paid 14 cents... Ridiculous!! Everyone knows stainless is way more expensive! I will never take anything there again!

The drivers are very nice, but everyone else from the company has been awful. Patricia, in particular, has been rude, condescending and very difficult to work with over the phone. I have had missed appointments with no notice, arguements from the staff, and overall a poor experience from this company.

I had thought I'd learned my lesson in the past this company is dishonest giving you a grade for your metal that is almost always below what you actually have. to list a few of their sketchy behaviors they use their ridiculously heavy carts that are all different makes and models to put your material on the scale so you have no idea how much tear weight there actually is they always round your weight in their favor sometimes go take your separated metals and put them together making that metal category dirty even though you've separated it prior. they once to my nice new buckets and didn't return them when I asked for them back they offered me disgusting buckets which look like they were covered in paint lead broken and stuck together and obviously left on purpose by someone. Pay less then the price they say that they paid per pound there's many different ways to get ripped off here other than the fact that they pay less than any scrap yard I know for any metal. You would think the staff here would be happier and more friendly with you with a company making all the extra money I've seen the same employees for years here its not going to change.

This place is dishonest. I went in with clean brass, and i have to argue with the employees about it, because apparently some of them are not sure what brass is. I set aside 3 torch tips because they were mainly copper. The employee took them, said he wad adding them to the ticket and i later find he added them not as brass or copper #2, but as dirty brass, paying a fraction of what they were worth. Copper does not ever make brass dirty! It enhances the value, since it is worth more. Then to top off the entire experience, i had clean aluminum, they called it dirty without touching a magnet to it. I did not realize until i went to the office for my ticket. I was in a hurry, the place was about to close and when i dispute the ticket, they want me to wait for the manager to come from some place in the back to take his time to review my situation. I asked the employee why he could not correct his mistake and he told me they always buy aluminum like that as dirty and he did not have the code to buy it clean! I asked him to shiw me with a magnet where it was dirty(metal), and he could not. He started looking for the manager, but i did not have time to wait. This place is dishonest and disgusting. Go there at your own risk.

First let me say my that the staff get 5 stars they were very nice people. My 1 star review is because the price your getting robbed it is literally worth the drive to marble falls and go to hcr. Here at cmc for just over 1600 lb I got 55 bucks for tin(general scrap). In marble falls at hcr with just over 2500 lb in tin I got 154 bucks so do the math scrappers

Ladies in the office were very helpful and friendly. This is my second visit there; both times they have been a pleasure to work with. I needed a certified weight today and they had me weighed and on my way in no time.

Very easy!! The ladies at the front greeted me as I walked in and proceeded to walk me through the process...sit on the scale, get a thumbs up, drive through to dump area. Too easy! I was met very quickly by a young man, who unloaded the contents in the back of my truck! Drove back on the exit scale and was met by a smiling and friendly young lady who gave me a thumbs up. Walked in, was given a receipt and some money. Thank you for making this an easy and enjoyable process

The people that work at this location all seem un-happy, like they don't want to be there. The lady that pays the money at the counter didn't even speak to me until she told me to look at the camera. They treated everyone in the line like they were criminals. Won't be going back there.
