I will never return to this scrap yard again. I would not recommend taking anything to the two thieves running the copper scales! I crossed the weigh in scale at 6541lbs in a vehicle weighing 4474lbs empty. They tare the bucket weight then calculated out weight again after the bucket was loaded, not once but twice even after I caught him and he changed it back to correct weight then said he didn't know how to remove the wrong weight.. printed me a scale ticket for 1565lbs of copper... They knew they got me big time!! They were acting like I didn't have as much as I thought I must've had and being completely ignorant about it. They got me for over $2000 and the payhouse woman had no input or advice of who I needed to talk to about it! Yes they offer a high price compared to some scrap yards but they are ripping your profits off at the scale!! Stay away from this place, you are better off taking your weight elsewhere for $.10 less and actually getting paid for your whole load!
Whenever I see the dirtiest or loudest vehicle on the road, I can rest assured it’s Omnisource. Really love the Jake braking down University.. not only can you see their fleet from far away, you can also hear them coming!
Guess the scales close for lunch? Came out and said 30 min break. Been stuck in line for an hour. Do they pay extra for wasting peoples time? All they have to do is post accurate hours. Instead here we sit blocking traffic both ways, lined out to the street.
Called asked how much batteries were she said $.11 a pound. I showed up give them 1,700 pounds of batteries and got $33. Cost me more in time and gas money taking it down there.

I bring different scrap metal here to help save the planet one can at a time. For aluminum cans I save the tabs and take them to the Ronald McDonald house near JCMC as they collect them after I leave Omni and head back to Johnson City. I originally started doing these as a Scout Leader to teach conservation and service projects. The people here are nice and helpful when separating the different metals since each brings a different price like brass, copper, aluminum, stainless, and just scrap metal. One thing to keep in mind is there can be nails and other tire puncturing items on the ground so keep that in mind. For most metals there is an ATM to get cash right thenbut for copper they send a check per state regulations. It is surprising that in one month we collect up enough metal to get around $30 with brass and copper bringing in the most money.
I really like the ease of dealing with this particular recycling/salvage center and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The prices are the best around with West Main recycling being their closest competitor
These people are very nice,it's so fast and easy.it also has alot of other things you can take there.i took off aluminum cans and on way back out they tell you through the speaker to come to office to get ur money.Fast n Easy!!just how we like!!thanks omnisource,you give me extra money from my cans t pay a bill or two.?
They really could make their operation a little better where you throw the shredder still at stays a mess where you are taking a chance on getting flat tires every time I go there but for the most part the people are friendly
Sometimes very busy, and i always worry about getting little bits of metal in my tire, but they are very polite and knowledgable, and I've never had a problem with them doing their jobs incorrectly. I really appreciate having a place to take the random metal that makes it way into my life.
Prices seem to be locked at same price all the time, every where else the price for scrap is going up but here. Like the employees, and set up. But not getting fair scrap price
Fast friendly service at the scale & pay station. I think they should do better at the pricing. I just feel they low ball us on what they pay per pound. If they raise it, I would give 5 stars.

great place just wish prices would go back up like they used to be $11/$12 for every100lbs. that would be great and boost the scrapping business back up....a lot of people are just hoarding junk hoping prices go back up...if it's not worth the gas money and a little bit of cash in your pocket it's not worth the trouble!
Great place to sell scrap metal, good prices. I could drive an hr longer for 2 cents more a pound, gas costs more than that. In & out is always fast, as fast as you can unload your truck.
Check their prices for scrap online, prices change daily. Great place for getting rid of junk outta ya yard and such and maybe getting a little coin on the side. Just watch out for nails, screws, metal bits on ya tires.
Very easy process to recycle cans or other metal. The employees are friendly and explain where you need to go. I have been several times and it usually doesn't take more than 20 minutes total.
This was one of the best places to go to take your scrap metal to live with their media times for many years their great service easy to get in and out you don't have to worry about getting nails in your tires they do have you made it to pick small up actually help you there
Really have to call all the competition to get prices. Greenville Iron Works and Thompson Metals in Kingsport. There is no ryhme or reason to Omnisource's prices.
My son had a wreck awhile back & bought the exact same car. He stripped the wreck down to a husk. We called & spoke to Wendy who was very helpful. She referred us to a towing company who took it away. The customer service here is EXCELLENT!
BROUGHT IN 5 DIFFERENT METALS & ONLY PAID FOR 4!!! LOST ALL THE COPPER & ONCE YOU DRIVE AWAY, ITS IN THEIR POCKET! BETTER KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON EVERYTHING YOU BRING!!!!! GLAD THEY'VE HAD TO CLOSE LOCATIONS - OBVIOUSLY THEY'VE RIPPED OFF MORE THAN JUST ME!
