Got here at 5:20pm for a 5:00 appt. Got thru scale house and parked in staging area. Only waited maybe 20 mins. Got inside and loaded, back out to the securement area and back out the the scale by 7:00pm. Was able to park on site overnight since I was out of clock.
Not bad at all considering I’ve been to the Cartersville, GA location many times and been stuck there for 6-8 hours.
This not safe. They have been doing this for years. Illegally loading trucks. I had to pull around 3 times to get them to fix my load properly. FMCSA, TNDOT and Corporate will be hearing from me.
Super nice people. Very fast. Follow the red lines. Yellow is where you add your boards and where you can sleep. Got there at 830pm no other trucks there to sleeps can fite 4 or 5 trucks to sleep. Picks up no tarp billets
This is what they’re giving drivers for driver appreciation week…. Are you serious? Multi billion dollar company and the best you got is a printed piece of copy paper? Tell us you don’t care without telling us you don’t care… pretty pathetic gerdau. Most places will at least give you a pen or piece of fruit.
Awesome experience, pulled onto the inbound scale at 06:50 for an 07:00 appt, was loaded and on the outbound scale by 07:20! They let me pull onto the outbound scale unstrapped, to make sure my weights were good, grabbed my paperwork, pulled out and strapped down...gone in less than 1.5 hours! Thank you Gerdau, awesome!!!
Wasn’t too bad arrived at 14:05 for a 14:00 appointment started loading at 15:00 paperwork in hand and gone at 15:50 could have been out sooner but check out line was kinda long plus I had to tarp
I got here and checked in at 3, it's now 8 & they're just getting to me. Claimed to have "sent me a message" but there is nothing on my phone or the app that they make you download. Place is a joke.
Ok this was 3rd time here. I got bars going to Ravenswood. I wanted to make a bulkhead. They gave me a hard time in the scale office over it which was very unprofessional. I asked the loader to butt the bars up against the bulkhead I made. They did not follow my instructions to butt the product against the bulkhead which is unsafe and very unprofessional!
Well the second time I went there was a better experience. I asked the crane helper loading dunnage for vertical blocking between bundles and he gladly provided. I tried to use my 2 X 2 hardwood 1 foots but he said those aren't allowable. I don't know why? That's all Maverick Trans uses, other Gerdau locations, as well as Atlas Tube uses. A driver showed me the truckers lounge and it was nice to know a restroom was there. My tarping lane had a busted gate which was a nuisance. I enjoyed the fan in the tarping bay. Not so bad this time around! Keep the hardwood blocking for next time! I did.
(11 months prior to above) Have to stay in your truck with the seatbelt on which is good but not good because no one even came to my truck to communicate what type of load I will be getting. No one communicated with me how I want it loaded or checked to see if I was satisfied with the way it was loaded. There was no one that I can speak with if I had a problem or if they could tell me where a restroom is. No vertical blocking/spacers at all, with large gaps. Its a terrible load to transport. The loads are mostly bulkhead loads but drivers aren't allowed on the trailer to build a bulkhead? Very disgraceful what the flatbedder is subjected to. I mean we are given all this responsibility (like avoiding death of shifting cargo) yet are powerless in the way we want our load loaded.
Arrived at 130 for a 2 pm appointment. Left at 8 pm. They need to fire everyone, bulldoze the place and try this whole thing again cuz it doesn’t work.

They load some sets of beams too small instead of making everything equal. Now you have a loose beam that can slide. So it forces you to add extra securement. Which sucks in 95 degree Tennessee heat. Hopefully I don't have a heat stroke smh.
Steele isn't nothing to play with. It slides easy and will cause mayhem if it comes off.

March 2024, I visited here. Appointment was fixed at 8:30 pm but I arrived 5:30. Around 7:45 pm my turn started. It took 15-20 minutes for loading. Done tarpping. Slept outside the Mill.
Strict appointment Only. Do not come early. Check in at guard shack. Friendly people in the guard shack. They'll tell you were to go. Got loaded with Billets. Easy in and out. CB Channel 4 if you need it.
How do you load on a flatbed 5 rows of steel but don't make any of the rows touch and having to the middle row the highest . Oh wait screw the driver n if they cam secure the load properly, it's all about your customers getting it unloaded. Then you have driver tarp it so DOT CANT see just how dangerous the load is . 50 trailers a day
I've loaded here twice. The ladies in the scale house are very friendly and courteous. Everyone I've dealt with at this place have been courteous and friendly. Loading, I was in and out quickly.
For the billets, they always load fast. But you should know where you want them to be loaded. Few trucks in front me was got loaded heavy at one of the axles.
I’ve picked up here several times within the last few years.... they usually move really quick for the most part… everyone is friendly (especially the ladies in the scale house) … as mentioned in the other reviews, it would be nice if they used spacer blocks between each bundle … once you get to the staging area, tune in to channel 5 and wait on shipping to call your trailer number… if your CB doesn’t work, you can walk to the drivers lounge and listen to their CB
I was expecting the worst after reading the reviews but this was not a bad experience getting loaded. Had a 1330 appointment and showed up at 1230. Got loaded by 1315. The tarping bay is pretty nice to use and the load isn’t hard to secure or tarp. The staff in the office was extremely friendly. Not bad at all.
Even a lot of negative comments. They work on weekend, loaded by appt super fast 15 min,even u late they will work you in! On board it was saying drlivery from 7am to 3 30pm.
I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Came to get steel and showed up early at 1230 appt time was at 1600 still here 1900 in the building but not even loaded yet workers standing around being worthless don't even acknowledge you I'll never come back here again. This is nothing but a joke load a truck and stop for a half hour then load again if your lucky I'm telling you avoid this place it's not worth your time I promise you
there are sooooo safety but playing with truckers life. no wood between steel bundle. the bundles in the middle are not secure, there are loose on the trailer. i will send pictures to DOT and to the local News paper.
It’s hit and miss if they are behind you will have a long wait. But smooth if they are on time. The care of the shippers has hit an all time low. Asked for vertical blocking (see pics) to see what’s care they have.
Reasonable load time, but I wouldn't necessarily call them fast. Been here 43 minutes and I'm half loaded. Friendly scale house people and friendly guys loading. Overall not bad.
To be honest this place is usually very slow but when I go here I got in and out in 1:30 hr very fast loading but the guy who was loading me had Booboo face he seemed he was not happy , I was asking him question and he was just giving me this straight face I was like oooohhhhhookay!! But the rest was a good experienced
Slow take minimum of 6 hours get loaded. And if I could I would change their pay from hourly to how many trucks a load in a day I've been here for hours and 40 minutes and I'll still partially loaded be here for another two and I run out of time an hour and 10 minutes and I'm staying here for 10 hours ain't moving the truck if I run out of time
For truckdrivers deliveries its better arrive whit time . waiting for come inside 2/3 hours in current time . some space to overnight paking for 6-8 trucks .
Great place to get loaded. Could be faster at the incoming scale. In and out if you are there at the appointment time or a little after. Only thing I hate is wearing the chin strap on your hard hat. This isn't the NFL and I don't play football. This is the only place I have been to that makes you do that.
