One of my employees slip into a ditch last night and a tow truck driver from South Side Towing quoted my employee $150 to pull him out of the ditch. After calling dispatch to update his company on the situation they changed the price to $272. My employee did not have the ability to pay this inflated amount, and they towed our van to their lot even after the police officer suggested that he pull the van out and get the vehicle back on the road so they could help other stranded drivers. Totally unacceptable bait and switch and lack of compassion and safety that the state police encouraged.
I recently needed service to help me get to my mama in this recent snow storm that left us in Gastonia with terrible icy roads. I called South Side the lady that I spoke to was friendly and helpful. Someone came out to my neighborhood quick, in less than 30 minutes. I was able to get my elderly mamas medicine to her amd check to make sure she was OK. I would absolutely recommend this companies services. They go above and beyond to help their customers and are fair in pricing.
Southside Towing has been a great company for us to do business with! Great rates with friendly service, their drivers are skilled and arrive within reasonable time frames. We have never had an issue and Southside is always our first phone call when we need tows!

On December 23, 2025, around 8:00 a.m., my semi truck was booted by Southside Towing at the Exxon gas station in Clover, SC. I was asleep in my truck when I was awakened by a man aggressively knocking on my window and telling me my truck had been immobilized.
I was genuinely confused and immediately tried to understand what I had done wrong. I did not see any clear signage indicating that commercial vehicles were not allowed to park there. When I calmly asked to be shown the sign, I exited my truck (which was still running, door open) and was shown a small, poorly placed sign that was easy to miss.
From the very beginning, the tow operator was hostile, arrogant, and unwilling to explain anything. He refused to give his name and told me my truck was “no longer my property” and was being seized. At one point, he attempted to grab my keys from the ignition, which was extremely alarming and escalated the situation to the point that police had to be called.
I was then told it would cost $4,800 just to remove the boot. I was rushed, pressured, and spoken to with complete disregard, as if I had that kind of money readily available. My employer had no choice but to pay so I could get back on the road.
I am a hardworking, law-abiding truck driver who supports his family. I had been working nonstop, away from my children for weeks, just trying to provide for them during Christmas. Shortly after this incident, I lost my job. This situation didn’t just ruin my day—it caused real harm to my livelihood and my family during the holidays, including my children and a newborn at home.
I take responsibility when I am clearly in the wrong, but the lack of clear signage, the excessive fee, the aggressive behavior, and the complete lack of compassion made this one of the most stressful and demeaning experiences of my life.
I hope this review encourages Southside Towing to remember that the people they deal with are human beings—working men and women trying to make an honest living—and to show more professionalism, transparency, and basic decency in the future.

Pick my suv up at 8:00 am and I had to call to find out where my suv was. The tow was only 25 mile from my house!!! I got my suv 2 hours late!!!! Don’t use this towing company!!!
South Side Towing is a textbook example of a shady money grab operation.
They sign predatory contracts just so they can cruise around looking for any excuse to tow vehicles—even if you’re barely over a line or not in the perfect spot. But here’s the kicker: they deliberately wait until the weekend to scoop up nicer cars so they can slap you with an outrageous tow fee and rack up daily storage charges.
It’s a scam, plain and simple. This company is not here to help anyone—they’re here to pad their pockets by preying on technicalities. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for running such a sneaky, opportunistic business. If you have any choice in the matter, avoid them at all costs
Needed my 2012 Nissan towed because the Front Lower Control Arm w/Ball Joint - Driver & Passenger Side Suspension were broken. The driver knew what was wrong and DID NOT have the proper equipment to lift the car on the bed of the truck. While trying to get the car up on the bed he broke the axle of the car which cost me a lot more money. When I called the office to explain, which the owner was supposed to call me back, and never did, so when I called back the next day the woman who answered the phone said they WOULD NOT do anything to make good on the cost of the axle or at least the cost of the towing. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Would NEVER recommend or use them again.
Had a car play system go missing after the car was towed and they left the car unlocked. After repetitive calls to Southside and promises of calls back the owner refused to call me back telling the person who answered the call that the driver who towed our car was no longer employed. Very poor customer service.
Southside towing provided courteous, caring, and fast service on a Sunday afternoon when most people don't want to work much less do an 83 mile tow! He was very helpful and made the drive go by quickly.
The person attempting to operate your tow truck in Alcoa, TN yesterday hauling a Dodge Ram is an unsafe and incompetent. Driver made a u-turn on a 4 lane highway that cause 4 cars to nearly crash trying to avoid this clown. Two miles down the the right lane was closed due to construction, this person jumps out of the left lane and barrels down wide open to the end of the right lane and aggressively pushes the truck back onto the left lane. Turn signals must not work along with this person’a brain. Zero regard for anyone around.

I had took a car up there to have the air fixed and power steering pump fixed neither was fixed we have already had to pay over 1,000 dollars just to get the power steering pump and still have no air because it is gonna cost to get it fixed. I just paid 1100 to my air which we paid them do come to find out they didn’t even care to get working it was a used part that didn’t work and had trash in it but charged me to flush out the system and didn’t put freeon in it I give them zero stars
They showed up promptly. Friendly service. The first truck they sent was much too small. The driver called someone and in about 15 minutes another truck showed up and loaded my rig up. They hauled it an hour away. Safely on a roll back. $205 total
Both drivers were friendly and took good care of the vehicle, and were less expensive than the option the insurance provided.

I called in to get my jeep towed about 20 miles away, most tow companies take forever to show up, Matthew was there in 20 min ! It was pouring rain out and he got the job done quick in the rain on a bad driveway ! Could not be happier 10/10 Matt was great !
Fast excellent service. My expedition broke down on me on my way to Charlotte at 5:30 am. I first called another wrecker service that was at the top of the Google search but was told they couldn't help me until after lunch time... I called South Side and the lady that answered was very friendly and had a truck over right away. The driver went above and beyond even helped push my truck up my driveway when his wrecker couldn't make the tight turn through my gate into the driveway.
They are sneaky, liars, rip offs, rude, will pull a car with you in it, will not help, and not caring of others. They only care about is the money period. They will quickly put chains in your vehicle so you have to paid over $100 in a drop fee.
I needed my 67 Lincoln tucked nicely on one side of my garage and Matt was awesome. Can't believe he did it in a one try. Call these guys if you need a tow.
I will not recommend anyone to use them they were supposed to fix my car and the guy that so called fixed it said it was fixed and I drove my car about 4 miles down the road and it completely broke down to where I couldn't drive it so I called and they admitted to me he didn't fix it properly and then he refused to make things right now costing me an additional bill from another company to fix my car. NEVER USE THEM THEY ARE A RIP OFF
Do not do business with these people. They stole my battery and replaced it with a bad one. He insists that it was the battery that was in it when I brought it to the shop, but that is not the case because I've never bought this type of battery, and it does not even fit in my truck. Yes, I saw the bad reviews but decided to take my chances as they gave me a great price. They got my truck running okay, but it's gonna end up costing me about twice as much as I thought because the battery almost costs as much as the service did.
This was the worst experience I have ever had with a business. Told me on the phone I could come get my husbands motorcycle as long as we had the same last name and address, drove an hour there, only to be told no when I arrived. No compassion, did not care about my situation at all and ended up in a full on argument with Brandon. Had to involve the police and finally had the bike released to me with zero apology. I would never do business with these people again. Learn some customer service skills and compassion for people, kindness goes a long way!!! Also, I will be sure to warn everyone I know about my experience.
They seemed to be high on their prices for a simple winch out of the side yard. We got stuck in the mud in our side yard and called them. They stated their prices. We didn't go with them. We waited until the next day and got a winch out from my father for free and it only took his plumbing truck, a winch, and about 15 minutes tops to get us pulled out and unstuck. We are glad we waited on my father bc south side towing was to high.
My son was in a wreck and we called Brandon to come tow the car. He arrived within 10 minutes of us calling and quickly loaded our vehicle and kept it safe at his lot until we settled with insurance. He even helped me navigate things with the insurance company and made sure I knew what my rights were. We have used him since then to tow several other vehicles for us. Never a bad experience!
