What clients say about Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge in North Kingstown Township (RI)

Nice smooth bridge minus the major bumps they are fixing that slows traffic down

A great bridge with a awesome views. Look for the small lighthouse on the North west side. Its quite unusual and stands on a small rock appearing to Jut from the ocean. Lots of delays crossing in late May 2026 so plan accordingly.

Planning began in the 1960s, as the original Jamestown Bridge that was opened in 1940 struggled to handle growing traffic, especially after the Newport Pell Bridge opened in 1969. After years of debate over location, width, and materials, construction finally began in September 1985. It was completed in 1992, spanning the West Passage of Narragansett Bay and linking North Kingstown to Jamestown.
The bridge’s design is a post-tensioned, double-cell concrete box girder. This design was chosen for its durability and clean lines. It stretches 7,350 feet long, with a width of 72 feet and a tallest span of 135 feet above the water. It carries four lanes of Route 138 and includes safety walkways, though they’re not open to pedestrians.
And there is NO TOLL to cross the Jamestown Verrazano Bridge. For me? That's five stars.Sep 21, 2025 -
The Jamestown Verrazano Bridge is an iconic bridge in RI. It has four lanes and connects North Kingstown to Jamestown. It's made of concrete and opened in 1992. It goes over Narragansett Bay.
When I go to Newport, this is the first bridge I take to get to the Newport Bridge. The Jamestown bridge is a little smaller and less grand than the Newport Bridge. It's still a cool bridge to drive over and see the lovely views of the bay. I've also gone boating/fishing right under it. Overall, it's decent bridge that was recently repaired in 2008; definitely a RI landmark.Jun 04, 2025 -
Jamestown Bridge is truly a beautiful bridge. I used to drive over it almost every day, and the views never got old. The sunsets from the bridge are stunning, and even the early mornings with the sunrise have a quiet, peaceful beauty. Sometimes we take places like this for granted—crossing them so often that we forget how special they are. But looking back, I really appreciate how breathtaking this spot is. It’s more than just a bridge—it’s a reminder of how nature and everyday life can come together in the most beautiful ways.

We crossed over this bridge coming onto and leaving Jamestown. There is no toll for this particular bridge. It is a fairly large span it covers. There are two lanes on each side. We had a nice view of the sunset on our way out of Jamestown.
Traffic was fairly light both ways/times when we crossed.May 17, 2024 -
A well-designed bridge that you can see as you drive over through the side rails to witness the beautiful Narragansett Bay and All it has to offer with the Plum Beach lighthouse, boats of all kinds and the beautiful landscape of Jamestown on one side and South Kingstown/North Kingstown on the other. No tolls either!!

This is a well-maintained bridge connecting to Jamestown. You can see the Plum Beach Lighthouse from the bridge. The bridge has plenty of lanes and was not crowded even during a nice summer day.

Honestly kinda like this bridge better than the Pell/Newport even though it is a little less fancy and iconic. Could just be because there’s no toll, though.

While it was closed back in the early 2000's, I would walk on it, check it out.
Real cool, abandoned kinda spooky feeling.Aug 03, 2017
