Ran out of gas and my a membership expired day before and was supposed to be set to autopay but they never did it and claimed it was my fault. I went through my notes and I wrote I signed up for autopay. Was told nothing they could do. I was told then told it would cost more for them to bring me 5 gallons of gas and they just had to tow me and they had to charge 900 dollars for a 3 mile tow when the tow boat was towing a boat right next to me. How does bringing me 5 gallons of gas cost more than 900. They adjusted the tow price to a 600 dollar “member rate” which doesn’t make sense to me. Only saving grace is the tow captain was very professional and courteous. Not sure if I would sign up again.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Safe Sea, specifically with an individual named Phill. When I called for assistance, he was rude and unprofessional. Despite having two active memberships--one for my older 24-foot boat and another for my new 25-foot boat which was paid on July 5th and activated July 6th, 2024, respectively--he refused to help. Phill's first question was, "What are you doing at 3:00 AM in the heavy fog?" For context, I was out on an evening fishing trip with my family. As the fog thickened, we headed back from Newport to Wickford, only to discover our GPS was malfunctioning, causing us to navigate in circles. We contacted the US Coast Guard, who provided us with directions based on our location. Safe Sea, however, was unresponsive and denied us assistance, instead offering a refund. The issue is not about the money but the service I paid for, which was not provided. After almost 15 years as a loyal client, I am deeply disappointed with how the company treated us in our time of need. I hope this serves as a warning to others considering Safe Sea. If you need a tow or simple escort back to your dock, think twice. While losing one client might not impact your company now, consistently poor service will eventually lead to significant financial loss. Wel Nunes

Very reliable, professional, helpful Marine Towing and emergency service. Tremendous asset and safety feature for boating these days. Love that their local, answer the phone personally, have a fleet of readily available rescue and service boats for Narragansett Bay and surrounding waters.

Engine konked out about a mile north of Jamestown bridge while motoring to winter storage. SafeSea was there within 20 minutes of my call. Tow boat operator was quick and efficient, towed us to Warwick and got us into our slip with a minimum of fuss. Best money I’ve spent on the boat so far.

!!!!!DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! My husbands boat broke down outside of Block Island so he got a tow into Block Island from a local fisherman (thank god) “Safe” Sea REFUSED to tow him from Block Island AT ALL because he broke down outside of the coverage zone EVEN THOUGH he was in the coverage zone asking for a tow... I asked if they would do it for a charge and the guy said “maybe” … “we can pick the boat up sometime next week” ….. when I asked what good their service was and what should my husband do now.. the guy said “he should have thought about that before going outside of our coverage zone” … to think when you sign up with this company that they will be there to help you god forbid this situation were to happen to you in the middle of the ocean.. and you call to ask them for assistance, they REFUSE to help in any way shape or form.. what a horrible and DANGEROUS way to run a business. We will be switching our services over to *SEA TOW* and I HIGHLY suggest doing the same if you have a membership with “safe” sea.… The worst customer service I have ever received!!!

In June 2020, I had purchased the most expensive policy available from Safe Sea. I did so hoping that if an unfortunate event occurred such as my boat dying and I got stuck somewhere I wouldn’t have to worry about an exorbitant bill. This turned out to be the least of my worries. On 9/11/20, my boat died in Providence. I called Safe Sea to request a tow back to my marina, which was about 10 minutes away. I was told a by the dispatcher that he would send help only after I paid him $2,000. Understandably, I lost my temper with the dispatcher but did apologize several times. I wanted him to know it was his company’s policy that I was angry with and not him personally. Here’s the reason they tried to shake me down for 2 grand: I had sold the boat originally listed on my policy and purchased a new boat the day before this event and, due to dealing with life events such as getting my kids signed up for school, school shopping, running a business, running a household, selling and purchasing boats, and the usual, I had neglected to call Safe Sea and request a transfer from one boat to another. In my opinion, this is not something that should cost $2,000. Especially considering that I am a paying customer, I purchased their highest tiered program and have an active membership. The only difference is the Hull ID number. Literally! They should at least offer a layover period of a few days to a week between switching vessels. I have also referred two of my friend to them. Both of whom have or will be cancelling their memberships. Safe Sea is a company who’s entire existence is based on saving their customers when they’re in dire situations. Yet, when one of their paying customers were stuck and needed their help they decided to try to shake me down for $2,000. Why this amount? And why, after I went off out of pure frustration they came back and said they could now come get me for $750. Why not $750 to begin with. This proves that it is their discretion and thus could’ve waived the fee entirely. Which is what they do for paying customers with active memberships. Which is exactly what I was. What if I had a baby on board? They couldn’t have cared less. You, Safe Sea, should be ashamed of yourselves. I am utterly disgusted and am considering legal action. You don’t deserve to be in business in my state. To boat owners: please, do yourself a favor, find another provider if you’re looking for someone to come help you in a boat situation. (A Zero Star review is not an option)

Very disappointing experience with Safe Sea last weekend on the water. My batteries didn't have enough juice to start the engine so I just needed a jump. I did not have a membership because my insurance covers one incident a year. The jump cost $805 and it took them 15 minutes. They charge you for travel to and from your boat and arbitrarily use Wickford harbor as the "point" regardless of where they come from or go after. The boat that jumped me came from Jamestown and went to Potters Cover (20 minute ride at most). They charged me for 1.75 hours. After discussing the bill with someone they said "its a half million dollar boat we are sending out". I'm pretty sure JetBlue doesn't charge us for their $3MM airplanes when we fly... Tow trucks don't charge us gas for them to get home..... it's the cost of doing business. They take advantage of boaters because options on the water are limited. I offered to sign up for a long term membership with them if they knocked a few hundred off the bill and they rejected. Needless to say, I'll never call them again even if the boat was sinking... I will be a SEA TOW member from now on out.

7 years as a Safe Sea member, my 1st call for help was last week. From the person who answered my call, to Drew who towed me, they were outstanding. Hopefully, I'll never need their services again, but I'll feel confident renewing my membership for years to come.

Called this afternoon after braking an engine shaft. They could not held stating not enough water even though we were in 9ft of water at high tide. Very poor. They told me to "call a neighbor " . Never agin. They call them self "captain". Not worth $1 for service let along $225 I paid.
