When they do pick up the garbage they do a decent job. My issue is you can never reach anyone by phone to ask a question or complain about an issue. They sure do have a good monopoly going on because they buy all the other ones up and can charge whatever. This month's bill just went up. They sent a bill by email of the charge and then automatically processed payment without my consent. I do not and have never auto paid any month prior too. Keep in mind the change was due yesterday and I just got the bill today.
So far, so good. I just recently switched. Better pricing is one reason. Communication has been outstanding , very easy to work with.They are very proactive.
My previous service, LRS, missed a lot of pick-ups and really didn't seem to care about that. Their accounting and auto bill pay system was a nightmare. They don't reply to email messages, even though they say they will respond in 24 hours. If you try calling, you get put in a loop, and then it eventually just disconnects.
wm is great when they actually pick up our trash but when we are skipped, they don't come back until the next week. so I pay for the pick up but don't get credit for the weeks they miss!
Trash not picked up. I didn’t get a message stating a different day. I think , maybe it’s because I’m the only one using this service on my street. Maybe I’m inconveniencing for the drivers.
If I could pick less than one star I would. I canceled my service due to them not picking up my garbage for 3 months! They still charged me for pick up even though they never even came to get it because of "weather" but as soon as I cancel my service they can pick up my trash bin in a blizzard?! Funny how that works.
If you have any other option choose them! Waste management is terrible, over priced, you cannot speak to a person to discuss your issues. They send me multiple bills, all different amounts, and if you dont pay all of them they shut off your service.
Yo how about you don’t destroy my recycling bin. I literately have ring camera footage of my can being destroyed. Feel like you owe me a new recycling bin
Waste Management has been an excellent choice! They have been consistently on time, easy to work with and the price is right. I would highly recommend them!

They inform you in advance if there is a holiday change in pickup.
The guys working in the field are always kind, polite and respectful. If they drop something they clean it up. They are very reliable in their weekly runs.
If you have an unusual item to dispose of. Call in advance and they will coordinate a time to pick it up.
I highly recommend them!
Trash pick up in North East PA is so sporadic .Missed pick ups often and then they claim they did pick it up and show a picture of a completely different house.
Iam so glad they are getting back on track. There for awhile they weren't picking my trash up all the time. But they have been picking it up on time for a few months now. Please keep the good work up! Thank you!
If you have ANY other option than WM, choose that. It's all automated. You can't actually talk to anyone when you have difficulty, and they ignore your complaints about having your trash skipped for three weeks in a row multiple times a winter. Don't worry- the bills will still be automatically deducted from your account regardless of whether they actually perform the service you pay them for. They don't care.
I have been told time and again by waste management that all of my containers would be picked up and every time my scheduled day comes by, they only pick up the green bin provided by waste management. I call and complain, and they send another pick-up, but I"m tired of having to call in every time I have more than just the one green bin.
Service seems excellent but I describe this as overpriced because my house is seasonal. We're only there 25% of the year, but we're required to pay 100% of the fees. I would appreciate pay-by-the-can or some other seasonal plan.
Terrible customer service. When I signed up for service they never brought me a recycle bin, had to call 2x to finally get one. The lid on my garbage can has been broken for over a month. I’ve submitted 2 requests online, left the can out, and no one showed up either time to replace it.
WM raised the price of my service 2 months in a row. when I called to cancel the service they told me they would be charging me $75 to pick up my garbage bin. They told me to put it to the road and they would pick it up on 9/9 it's 9/25 and it is still sitting there.
I cancelled my account 2 weeks before the end of my paid up service They came and picked up the tote and I am getting bills from a collection agency.
I don't owe them anything and it's very hard to get a real person on the phone.
Absolutely the Worst Service Experience – Avoid at All Costs
Waste Management has been the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. During a particularly brutal winter, they missed numerous scheduled trash pickups—far more times than I can even count—while our neighbors with competing services still had their trash collected. There was no compensation, no apology, and virtually no communication.
They also dropped off a recycling bin in the spring but didn’t begin actual recycling pickup for months. And once it finally started, they missed at least three months' worth of pickups. Again, no explanation and no accountability.
To make matters worse, getting in touch with them is nearly impossible. I was hung up on multiple times during their automated phone system, spent forever on hold both by phone and online chat, and when I did reach someone, they were unhelpful and dismissive. It felt like no one cared.
When I finally canceled our service—after repeated price hikes and unreliable pickup—I explained all of this, and they still showed zero concern. They even insisted I had to pay for them to come pick up the bin, despite the lack of service I’d received for months.
I paid the final bill just to be done with them, but I will never use Waste Management again. Their service is unreliable, communication is terrible, and customer support is practically nonexistent. Save yourself the stress—go with any other provider if you have the option.
The absolute worst public service I’ve ever had the misfortune to experience. Charging you for services you never received, starting services you never requested and THEN charging you for them and to top it all off, not actually DOING the services you requested and paid for! Their online chat support is worthless: they’ll give you inaccurate information and then drop the chat with no warning. I wish there was SOME other option for the west county. Regardless of price, if they could perform 10% of what they SHOULD, they’d still be doing better than Waste Management!
No real problems with pickup but...
1. We haven't yet received our WM garbage bin yet. We were told it would be dropped off last August approximately.
2. It would be nice if the guys would put the lid back on the can. The wind here blows the open garbage can and lid across the road and the lid is hard to find sometimes.
Earlier last year, had a few issues with pick up. Once I spoke with a human rep. they got the issue taken care of and I've had no problems with pick up. I'm sure people get sick and days they are short on drivers. Usually it's picked up with the week. My route driver does a great job. Even during winter or summer dumps, he's more dependable than the mail man when it snows.
We left WM recently and moved to a different refuse pickup company. The NE winter has been rough for all of us but there is no excuse to not pick up my garbage for 4 weeks straight, while some households (in other neighborhoods) were only neglected for 1-2 weeks. It shows complete lack of proper scheduling. Customer Service is another WM hazard. Unsympathetic, unapologetically rude and absurdly long wait times to even speak to a representative. We were a long standing WM customer but I will never trust them again. They just don’t care.
Lastly, they kept increasing my bill. The last increase went up significantly. I found out all my neighbors were paying substantially less than I had been per quarter. If you use WM check with your neighbors to see what they are invoiced, I bet it will be different. WM should implement a standardized pricing scale and not just be able to charge you what they feel like that day. I was told I had to purchase my 96 gallon trash can for $100. Only to find out others were supplied the same sized can at no charge. I would like WM to remove my WM can and add the $100.00 to my refund already owe.

Let me start by saying the service is okay, that's not the issue. This is my first home, and to say that I take pride in it is more than an understatement. With that being said, the issue I have is the amount of oil and / or hydronic fluid that has stained up the road directly in front of my driveway. I literally do some type of project every day. Whether it be yard work or some kind of renovation and my house is just now 39 years of age, and I do this because I want to have the house that is talked about in the neighborhood. As bad as the road is stained, no matter what I do, it still looks trashy and I work way to hard to feel this way.
Never in all my life have I ever seen a trash collection service like Eries waste management and their drivers lol it’s almost comical it’s so bad. I’ve lived in two different states and traveled around the country- I’ve NEVER seen garbagemen just throw peoples trash cans 10 feet into the air and anywhere it lands as they’re in a hurry. It’s insane. Driving around Erie PA after a trash pickup night is like playing dodge-ems. There’s big black trash bins all over the place. Is it that much trouble to set them down on the grass on the burm ? Does it add that much time and effort? I literally am baffled how they toss people’s trash cans as if they are free from waste management to just “trash” and break them. Those trash bins ain’t cheap. It’s outrageous… I wish I got video of the 5 other bins they tossed 8 feet in the air. All of our handles are broke off our bins. I’m sorry to write such a negative review but come on. Somehow they have to respect people’s properties more. Additionally they always leave tons of litter and extra trash that falls out of peoples bins. It’s abysmal how they are for our city man. This guy just leaves the bag and walks away from it
