New stuff weekly. Lots of bargains to be had. Large selection of freezer and refrigerator items dairy yogurt lots of cheese cheap! Look for markdown when they have excess I've found many deals for 10 cents! They frequently have health and beauty items. Cold and flu, vitamins etc. This place is a regular stop for me.
Edit: their prices have gone way up. I'll still shop here, but won't be buying nearly as much as before.
This is my new favorite salvage store in the area. This one has a great selection of drinks especially. I'm only knocking off one star because sometimes I find things so expired that they should be thrown away in my opinion. I don't think they should sell food 1+ year expired. Also this one is easier to walk in than others with more wide aisles
Amazing deals..... You can find things there you can't find in a local grocery store which makes it fun to shop. The staff is amazing as well, friendly willing to help you find something.
I do like the location, and it's a bigger place which is nice. The parking is a lot better but the prices are so expensive for a salvage store. I went in there and I couldn't believe the prices they were close to the regular store prices. I would rather spend the extra couple dollars and get food that isn't expired or close to expired then spend that amount of money on expired food. Salvage stores are supposed to have the food cheaper not close or similar pricing as regular stores.
I like this location better than off of 608 it is definitely more convenient for the consumer. Plenty of Parking and Wheelchair accessible. It has alot of frozen foods available and plenty of chips,breads and about anything for the house.
Prices are very good due to many items are "sell-by date" exprired. Some so far expired, I wouldn't take a chance. Items are hit and miss for consistency.
Kurtz has great prices and friendly staff, they also have a wide selection. Drinks, canned goods, boxes of food, fresh food, you name it. Only thing that's slow is the restocking of shelves from day to day, but other than that it's a great salvage store.
I'm glad they moved closer to us! You must stop in and see all the deals. They have a great place to shop, discount groceries and other supplies, and it's clean and organized!
They have a great selection at great prices! I feel like I could get more things I'd like at the old location in their refrigerated section though, but that's just me.
If you are willing to take your time you will not be disappointed...I found several amazing deals..their cheese and lunchmeat are very good...their rye bread was some of the best i have ever had from a grocery store...I highly recommend this store to anyone who is willing to take their time and find the items worth buying...
Love coming for salvaged groceries with the prices of stores being so expensive this place has great prices. Love the new store they took over the old save a lot. Huge selections now they were able to expand. You can fill a cart for half of what you'd spend at a main branded store.
Very mixed bag ! Unique items / name brand, fresh/expired, good products/spoiled, good frozen/freezer burnt . Shop carefully and you will be happy about price.
If your kids eat like mine Kurtz Discount is the place to go. They have a lot of items and you can get them for half the price. It helps out a lot. I love it.
Please watch the prices on paper towels and laundry soap. I found paper towels that you would only save .89 cents on vs getting it at Walmart and same with laundry soap . Definitely some days it’s not a discount. Definitely not impressed with new store .
You can find some good deals on a variety of things. But, check the dates on things. Almost everything is expired. Remember, it's a salvage store. Great service, and friendly people. They are moving to middlefield soon.
Amish owned and operated salvage grocery store. It's kind of off the beaten path so you need to look for it but the prices are most definitely well worth it! There is stuff here that's hard to find at many other salvage grocery stores and I won't wreck it for my friends who come here often in the hopes of finding these certain products... something to do with the metric system?! ??. You'll definitely also need to be aware that it's a very busy little place so there may be some aggravation with trying to get around other customers and their carts. There is a very clean and well stocked Port-a-John provided so if you require "having a seat" beware during winter!! ? The prices are outstanding and the staff have always been very nice and helpful. Definitely worth your time!! Just remember, though, this is SALVAGE groceries so you may find dinged or dented cans, slightly out of date items (which is 99% of the time the "Best if SOLD BY" date, NOT an expiration date), but do pay attention as certain things don't hold up well much past the SELL BY date (i.e. milk). Also, I've never run into it here but in dented or dinged cans watch for bulging tops or bottoms, or any other kind of abnormal bulging that would appear to be "air" build-up inside. If you see that, chances are you'll get extremely sick from eating it as it's often a sign of Botulism or Botulinum Toxin (the waste builds up from bacteria causing the bulging). As I said, though, I've NEVER run into that here nor at South Side Grocery but it's something to definitely keep in mind. If you happen to find a bulging can, find the owner or manager so he can dispose of it.
Great deals, nice folk's and one heck of a freezer section. Gotta get there early to beat the crowds. Well worth taking a look at. Reminds me of when I was a kid down south shopping at the mom and pop grocery stores. Always a bargain to be found. I work in food packaging and the best by date is always just a suggestion. Food in its containers are very shelf stable until opened. Only real things you need to keep eyes on is things containing any milks, oils or fats. Those are normally only good a month to 6 months after that date. Hope that helps folks.
Last stop on our roadtrip. Very crowded and chaotic. The parking area was a mess and the store layout was too. Hard to navigate with a crowd and it was crowded. Some produce in addition to the usual bent and dented items. Found more items with expired "use by" dates than any other store. Large bins scattered inside and out. For the first time, I had a concern about the safety of the food on sale. Kurtz just didn't "feel" like the other vendors.
