I had a very disappointing experience at this coin shop. As a customer, you expect to be treated with basic respect — regardless of your budget or what you choose to spend your money on. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
The dealer was condescending and dismissive when I expressed interest in certain items, making comments that felt degrading and unnecessary. Instead of offering guidance or education, the interaction came across as belittling. No customer should feel talked down to for their interests or price range.
Whether someone is spending $20 or $20,000, professionalism and courtesy should remain the same. Collecting is supposed to be enjoyable, and unfortunately this experience took away from that.
I hope the shop reconsiders how it engages with customers in the future, because respect should never be optional.
This was the only shop still buying silver in the area and for that they will be the only shop that has my business for gold and silver going forward. They have integrity, are fair and will not BS. Why would you buy from another shop when there's no guarantee they'll even let you sell back to them?
Hands down one of the top coin shops I’ve gotten to go to. I’m typically more of a coin show guy and because my options are limited where I’m from for a good all around shop.
Today I got to visit Carat Coin and had the pleasure of having Maroon take care of my deal.
Soon as I entered the door, despite being absolutely slammed with customers (crazzzzzy market lol), I was greeted immediately by a very courteous and happy fella behind the counter.
While I waited I just kind of listened and took in how things were being done and handled.
They’re A+ is all there is to it.
Despite just how insanely they were. They joked. Handled business. Continued to greet the many more who came in the door. Still answered phone calls. Didn’t rush anyone.
My experience was phenomenal. Everyone else was kind of in the same reason for being there, while I was there partially there to let go of some silver. I was more interested in getting some graded numismatic stuff.
Maroon took care of my silver stuff and grabbed me some graded stuff and we talked through the deal.
Listen. Plain and simple this place is super professional and a place with amazing customer service. Superb fairness, even in a wild market to be trying to figure out at the moment.
From walking in the door to leaving —— it was handled as good as it could be done.

Best gold shop I've ever been to in my life. They are so kind and respectful. BEST gold exchange prices as well.
Went there to sell a little bit of cold and The price came out to $472.. he handed me $500 in cash and said "Merry Christmas". Then, an old lady came around the counter to handed my autistic 2 year old son a brand new seashell necklace (with the tag still on it) as a gift.
It's service like this that is nearly impossible to find in society today when it comes to customer service in general, but I was lucky enough to stumble upon it at this establishment. Small mom and pop businesses like this or the backbone of our country.
They've gained a lifelong customer and I will be singing their praises to anybody and everybody from now on. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to come here for their gold and coin needs.

It's only opinion till you visit them..Thats when it turns to Fact!Absolute BEST & ONLY place to take your precious metals and such to. The owner was super cool with me even when all of what I had didn't turn out to be what I was hoping for. They are honest and knowledgeable & pay top dollar too guaranteed. All reasons for which they have earned my loyalty! Don't waste ur time calling around or price shopping like I did. Go straight there and u will not regret it. For my first time ever scraping broken jewelry I had an excellent experience at Carrot Coin in North Olmsted. They were extremely professional from start to finish and offered me a great price for my scrap gold. I also brought in some pieces from my “rainy day” collection, and they appraised them very generously.
To double-check, I later had the same items evaluated at Stow Coin Exchange, and their offer was $40 less than what Carrot Coin gave me. That confirmed for me that Carrot Coin is honest, fair, and truly the best place to go.

I was a little reluctant to drive nearly an hour to this spot all the way in North Olmsted.
Seeking to get a value placed on less than 10g of gold, I visited five other gold buyers throughout the Cleveland area that had a 4.0 overall Google rating or higher. Carat Coin was hands down the best place to make a stop when looking to get a quote on my gold. It was welcoming, quick & attentive, and the rep there didn’t shy away from giving me a quote for pieces that I didn’t want to sell, just get a quote. To be specific, Carat Coin’s estimate was $300 higher than two of the five other estimates I received from highly rated spots . $300 is a HUGE difference.
I’m only writing this review because I started off researching places myself and this whole experience made me realize there are tons of predatory buyers out there. By visiting five highly rated locations around the Cleveland area, I want others to know that if you are looking to sell your gold, get treated like a human being, get an estimate on the value of your gold—make this your first stop. Definitely get other estimates. But if Carat Coin is higher and give your more “coins” for your “carats”, leave a review.
Maroon is honest, straightforward and personable. He and his staff are great guys. Junior is the nicest "watch dog." They're a fair and ethical dealer. Highly recommend them.

Every time I go there the owner can't be bothered to take care of me as a customer without having MULTIPLE conversations with others, interrupting me mid sentence by TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE. the rudeness and OBVIOUS dismissal of my value as a REPEAT customer has been upsetting.. But today I took in 0. 6 grams of 14K gold.. He gave me $30..According to gold prices a MINIMUM of $51 would have been fair. Today was absolutely my LAST VISIT to Carat Coin.
This owner has ZERO CONCERN for repeat buisness. But today he treated me like a SCHMUCK. I AM DONE. it's too bad.
Good place to trade precious metals. Maroon is very knowledgeable, and it was fun to bounce theories off each other. At the same time, the young asian guy was very disrespectful, and also tried to cheat me. Body language, side eyes, sarcastic, tried to rush me, etc. Even gave the owner a pissy attitude right in front of customers. He also tried to charge me $15 more than what the 3 employees and I had discussed for gold. I had to tell him to stop when he was finalizing the sale so I could get all employees there to make him fix the price. Then his attitude was even worse. It's a good place to trade, but the experience was ruined by the kid. The customer holds the purse, and does not have to buy from you. The customer pays your bills. He needs to learn respect before he should be allowed to work with customers.
Went in for the first time today and had a great experience getting a collection priced and sold. Very welcoming staff and paid higher prices than the other quotes I was given. People were coming in from all over OH and even from PA. Fantastic store, highly recommend and the owner is great!

Friendliest people in the business. They pay the highest, they have a machine that can scan any item you think is precious and they do it for free. It’s so worth the drive if you are further away. Can’t recommend them enough. Better than the people in Lorain, Avon Lake, and surrounding areas by far IMO.
