What clients say about O'Reilly Auto Parts in Oswego (NY)
I have lived and worked as a mechanic in this town my whole life, and I’ve bought parts from just about every auto store around. I stopped into this location last week, and what I witnessed was enough to make me take my business elsewhere for good.
As I walked in, a black customer was heading out the door. The store manager watched him leave and then made a series of racist comments to another customer. I’m not going to repeat what she said, but it was clear, ugly, and completely unprovoked. The customer she was talking to looked uncomfortable and so was I. There’s no excuse for that kind of behavior anywhere, let alone from someone running the store.
I come here for parts, not politics or prejudice. If this is how they talk about their customers when they think no one’s listening, I can only imagine how they treat people when issues actually come up.
I won’t support a business where the leadership thinks this is acceptable, and I’d encourage others who care about basic respect to spend their money somewhere else. There are plenty of auto parts stores in town that do not tolerate this kind of nonsense.
Twice now our local store has been a shining example of what customer service used to be. Courteous, professional, helpful. Fair pricing, above and beyond installation. Advance Auto gave up on customer service, won't install a battery unless crazy easy, and those cars aren't made anymore, glad to have O'Reilly here. They get all our business after today.
Had one of the best experiences here ever. Had an after market light out on a car I didn’t know much about. My dad passed in february and i’m a 21 year old college student and a girl so I had no idea what I was doing. Went to autozone first and got no help and was met with rudeness and attitude and was told they couldn’t help me at all because it was after market. Took it over to O’Reilly and was met with the best people ever. I think the young man’s name was Jay and he helped me so much and figured out my car. He took multiple trips into the store and back out helping me and was kind the whole time. This meant so much to me and really made my life so much better. I will always go to an O’Reilly from here on out it was such a good experience ten out of ten if you ever need help go here.
Salesperson was a woman with black hair. Very helpful, found the windshield wiper I needed and changed it for me. She was patient and kind although my car's model is difficult to attach and figure out. Thank you!
Had a headlight go out and went to O’Reilly to get it changed. Turns out I hit a pothole and it knocked the connection loose. The associate was friendly and knowledgeable, so he fixed it for me in seconds. Would definitely recommend.
I had a headlight out and went to O'Reilly. Apparently the assembly for the light on the driver's side has poor accessibility, but the young man kept working at it in the snow and cold wind, never complaining or getting cross. I was very pleased with the service and recommend them.
My favorite parts store in Oswego. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Special shoutout to Nick and Angelo, they went above and beyond to help me in my time of need. They got the parts I needed within 24 hours on two different occasions so I use O’Reillys more than Amazon now.
Husband went in to get me new wiper blades. Worker was incredibly rude to him when he asked if he could install them. Complained about how he parked too? Just not necessary when trying to give you our business.
Store manager "Matt" and associate Rory did a great job of helping me to select and install parts for my daughter's car.
I found them to be really friendly and helpful. It's a clean and beautifully run store. I will return again and make this the number one auto parts store that I go to in the Oswego area.

Staff can be arrogant and uneducated when it comes to knowing about vehicles and parts, especially the younger staff. If they do not have what you need they say good luck getting it because you're going to have to pay a lot of shipping for that why don't you just get this item which wasn't even the correct item.
Maybe most auto parts stores have mostly the same stuff… but O’Reilly’s in Oswego is where I will go every time. The employees there are so helpful. Rory, in particular, has been extremely helpful more than once. These guys work on cars themselves. They’ve helped me diagnose issues, come up with a solution, and do it cost-effectively.

Went in for a single windshield wiper blade, found out they had them in the back so I couldn't pick it myself, then was sold a wiper blade that was very expensive ($35 for a single blade) that wasn't even compatible for my vehicle. Let me pick my own parts, I'll just do it myself.
Sunday 2/6/2022 I was on my way to Sterling. I run a non profit that grants wishes for the siblings of kids with cancer. Myself and my board members were on our way to grant the wish of a 9 year old boy when my “check your oil level” light came on in my car.
I’m originally from Ny but have lived in Virginia for a bit now. So I had drove from southern Virginia and needed to get back.
Unfortunately with my car being diesel oil the correct oil isn’t easy to come by and most places try to sell me the wrong stuff. Or Willy’s didn’t end up having my oil. But the older gentleman working that night, around 4pm, went above and beyond by calling a local oil change place. He tried so hard to either get me an oil change or at least get me the oil I needed. He truly was amazing!! When the oil change place turned him down he had the younger gentleman print out pictures of the correct oil for me to take over to auto zone to make sure I got the right stuff. Then made sure to check my oil level before leaving the store.
I’ve always loved Oreillys but this customer service went above and beyond! You’ve got an amazing employee!
Ps. I was able to get my oil changed the next day!!

Great customer service! I am in Canada and could not get a part for my Acura TL part stores anywhere here or on Amazon or Ebay or across the country for that matter.I found it on Oreillys website but could not purchase online as I needed a US based billing address.I called the Oswego store and they went way out of their way!They ordered the part to their store and then shipped it to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg which in turned shipped it over to me.Can't thank them enough!Mike
The battery was dying in our van, they tested it, suggested different levels of batteries n pricing levels. They installed the new battery for us. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable

Never had any issues or problems, employees very straight out honest don't have any problems ordering any parts. Only part store I will go to, they don't RIP you off like advance auto or auto zone, never been over charged.
The right part the first time, knowledge of mechanics is key to selling car parts and extremely helpful, I was five hrs away called for parts they were pulled and waiting for me when I got to the store very good bunch of guys that work there, I think the staff at the Oswego new York store need a whole lot of praise and a good pat on the back for there hard work I hope to keep doing business with the guys at the Oswego store for many years
