I have 3 cars that I have serviced at Wantagh Auto Service. I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of services provided or the professionalism of everyone there . But mostly finding an auto service who is both honest and communicative as they preform their services is paramount.

I dropped off my truck at 4:30am. and placed my keys in the Dropbox. I called them in the morning with the problem and the truck was ready for me when I returned from work

The mechanics at Wantagh Auto Service are great. They assessed my vehicle, completed the repairs I requested and alerted me about future maintenance and the timeframe in which I should seek to return to complete it. I'll be back in a few months and make them my GO TO auto mechanic.
We used to have no issues coming here, until recently. The new owner sold us a car with a SALVAGED title and a car that had a rotting frame. He never told us until I found out a YEAR later when another mechanic told me that my car was a death trap. We called him out in it and he lied to our face saying he told us. If that was the case, we would've bever bought the car. The owner also owes my mother $2k over work that was never done. The owner is a scam and liar. He refuses to pay us back because he's a cheapskate. Highly recommend to go somewhere else...
My experience at Wantagh Auto Service over the last 12 years or so has always been excellent. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and cooperative. I would highly recommend them for any auto servicing needs.
A woman and her son drove from Pennsylvania to buy my 1997 GMC Safari. She must have found this shop on line to have the vehicle checked out. I had no objection because I knew that the van was in excellent running order. I have owned it for 5 years now and had essentially had it rebuilt and highly maintained it. I knew that it needed a catalytic converter and front tires, which I had told the potential buyers before this shop checked the truck out. After the truck came off the lift the mechanic whispered something to the manager of the shop. I found that kind of odd but didn't pay it much mind, but then the manager started to walk off with the woman who was going to buy my vehicle. I asked what was going on? He replied that she wanted to speak to him in private and that she was the paying customer. Now I couldn't imagine what they needed to say about my truck that would've been needed to be discussed without my knowledge other than something underhanded, something like tell him there is more wrong with the vehicle than there actually is so he wiĺl go down in the price. So I said, as I walked towards them both that I thought it was inappropriate for them to speak in private about my vehicle. Because although she was the paying customer, it was still my vehicle being discussed and that I would be leaving if the results of the vehicle inspection were not divulged to all parties involved in the sale. So the manager or owner for all I know, invited her and I into the office and with the poorest attitude possible, read off a laundry list of lies that he claimed would cost almost $3000 to fix!!! At this point He said that a new catalytic converter would cost $1500 just for the part! On a 22 year old van! Then he said it would be $500 for the labor! Than another thousand dollars for things like an egr valve sensor and 500 dollars for two front tires! He clearly thought she would've had the work done at his shop. What he didn't know was that they were from out of state and that there was no way she was going to have the work done in New York, much less in his crooked shop. Upon hearing his bloated assessment of my vehicle, I asked him if I took the van to another mechanic to be inspected if they would come up with the same result he did? He said" Most liklely." When I asked him why? he said that "different mechanics may have different opinions about things like shocks." But shocks were not even on the list of things he said were wrong with the vehicle!
Needless to say, although I offered to pay any mechanic she may choose to conduct another vehicle inspection, they declined! This crooked shop cost me the sale of my vehicle. I am ashamed to live in the same town where this poor excuse for a business operates!
Since this shoddy inspection I have had the vehicle checked out by a more honest mechanics shop. The result was $1000 in needed work. One third of what Wantagh auto service claimed it needed! And not a terribly expensive result for a 22 year old vehicle at all!
They cost me the sale of this vehicle through their greed and dishonest business practices!
I would not recommend Wantagh auto service station at all!!!
Great service and a trustworthy establishment. They do great work at a fair price and can get the job done under any circumstance. No job too big or small that they can’t get done.
Staff is very professional and friendly. They do a thorough job and I trust their decisions. Add to that their location to the train station and you can not lose.
