My normal mechanic was getting heart surgery and I needed my 4 tires mounted since I was using a donut/spare. I called Cooks and they mounted them and didn’t tighten the lug nuts properly.. I started to feel like something was off so I pulled over on my way to Hornell (from Andover) and went back home to Andover. I also thought something was weird from Wellsville to Andover (going home from Cooks) but assumed it was road noise and the new tires getting adjusted.
Well, I’m glad I checked. At least 6 lug nuts were not torqued tightly when I pulled over and checked. I could literally loosen them with my BARE HANDS. I’m lucky the tires didn’t come off. I went and bought an impact wrench at Runnings and tightened them myself because I don’t trust them to get it right. Never again…. For your safety PLEASE consider alternative garages even if it means waiting.
I wish I could post the video I have of me hand loosening the lug nuts but Google will not allow video upload so enjoy the photo of the impact wrench I bought to torque them instead.
This place is a complete rip off. Bought a van from this guy who got me in the long run. Sold me a 96 dodge that he said needed a new battery and cooling fan as is. Paid 2500 just to get it home and find out the transmission was blown. Sleazy guy at the counter gave me the run around. Took a huge loss on this one. Don’t believe the hype with the stars as they are probably part of his “fan club” most of the people in that town know it as crooks and will not refer that place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and run from this place. Do yourself a favor and go to Whitwoods. Better, Friendly well qualified mechanics there.
Cooks tells you they can do a service call at your house. Never showed. Called them back 4 hours later. Answer my buddy should have never told you we do service calls. It's a flat tire...!!! You're a tire place. Not Happy...!!! Bad customer service and attitude.
Horrible...had my truck there 3xs, it was still not fixed. We paid for all coils and spark plugs to be replaced along with a few other other things. Less then 24 hrs later I was broke down with the same problem I originally had. I called and voiced my frustrations and they said I must have a new problem with the truck.... So lacking confidence in them trying to fix it again, I took it to a more reputable mechanic. After telling them cooks replaced all coils and plugs, they informed me that only one plug and coil were replaced, but yet we were charged for all of them. Not to mention cooks doesn't give u any paperwork on what work was done. I will never take my vehicle there again.
Very nice and friendly people. Got my vehicle looked at and fixed back up. Was done in very timely manner. Also he called me and kept me updated. Did not do anything to my vehicle before running it by me.
Absolutely amazing staff fast service was traveling and my serpentine belt broke they were able to get me up and running without any issues would recommend them to anyone If I could get more than five stars I would Thank you guys again?
Terrible customer service. The mechanics charged us a lot for trailer tires and then lost our rims when we went to get them back. Now we can’t find new rims for our trailer and because of Cooks, we’re having to run all over the city of Rochester to try and find new rims that fit. Would not recommend.
These folks work hard to get the job done! Helped me out in a pinch, making room in their already full schedule so my girl could get home from work safely. Thanks!
We were visiting family down from northern Ontario- car started making some road noise on the trip- Cook's got us in quickly- figured out that there was nothing unsafe for us to drive home with (and fixed broken exhaust hangers)- I was expecting to pay for an hour of shop time or so. and instead they said "we didn't really do much- is $20 ok"!! Honest and fast. Thanks again!
